In my site to upload youtube videos in activity I’m using https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-activity-plus/ I have modified the code, so the user could select video category. I have add 2 new columns in activity mysql table “video_category” and “video_subcategory”. That works just fine.
The problem is that now I want to make activity feed searchable via categories and subcategories that I used.
To filter activity feed I used this code in function.phpif ($_POST['select_name'] === 'category_name') { (bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( 'activity' ).'&search_terms=category_name' ) ); }It looks like that ( bp_ajax_querystring( ‘activity’ ).’&search_terms=category_name’ ) search only in mysql Activity table “content” column. But I want to search from my new columns “video_category” and “video_subcategory”. Because when i tried to add video category name in ‘content’ search is working just fine, but I want to search not in content column, but from my new ones.
Any ideas how could I achieve that?
Not trying to be mean, but seriously, it’s nearly impossible to find the ‘create a new post’ link on the support page.
Also, why on earth do search results show a whole first post from the returned series of threads? Makes it nearly impossible to quickly scan through a list of returned posts to find the content you’re looking for. The search results should ONLY include the name of the original post and 200 or so characters from the relevant search result, IF that.
Finally, while I’m ranting, it would be incredibly helpful to add dividers or typographical rules/hierarchy to the buddypress.org documentation ‘subpages’ panel. Just toss in an HR after each list item, right now it looks like they all run together, lol. Can’t read them at all.
Fell in love with BP through the CUNY Commons, but not all web communities wish to be wide open to the public.
Years ago, there were a handful of plugins that helped to make a BuddyPress multi-site install private. I put together a sweet little community for some senior citizens back then. Seems like those plugins are all dead now. After days of researching and reading outdated forum posts, I am scratching my head asking things like, “So how does one disable the public visibility of member activity feeds?”
Is it actually possible to create a members-only community with BuddyPress 2.1.1. without hacking BP?

Hi i have installed BuddyPress and some of the buttons i cannot see because they are in white writing, if you go to my site and look http://platformsportsmanagement.com/register/ at the bottom where it is supposed to say NEXT after you filled out your register information is in white and i cannot change it. Can anyone help?
I am still trying to figure out how to mad buddypress so the group title becomes the page title and the broup description becomes the meta name =description thing.
I pointed out what some people have suggested here: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/groups-title-meta-description-duplicate-blank/
But no one has suggested what is best practices, or if any of those solution work.
I see that wp 4.1 has a new feature:
<title> tags in themes
add_theme_support( ‘title-tag’ ) tells WordPress to handle the complexities of document titles.
Would this make it easier to put something somewhere where buddypress can make a page title and meta description, or make it easier for admins to add some code to fix or something?
Perhaps next buddypress will make this a default fix with this new wordpress title thing, and give an option for group admins to adjust page title / meta name description?

I ma experiencing a weird issue on my site and I would appreciate any help!
I’ve installed both bbPress and BuddyPress on my site and recently I noticed that the notifications are not working correctly.
Here is what happen: If user “B” replies on user “A” comment, user “A” is getting notification only if he has started the topic. If the topic is started by user “B” or anyone else, user “A” won’t get any notification inside the site (at least email is sent to user “A” email).
Same will happen is user “A” replies to user “B” comment – he will get notification only if the topic is started by user “B”.
Anyone with the same or similar issue?
I am running the latest versions of all plugins, theme and core.

I would like to use a donation plugin and then be able to show how much was donated alongside the user’s profile.
Also it will be nice to have a page to display all donors with amounts.
The donated amount can look like a Badge and be updated dynamically based on donations made – allowing admin to also edit it in case there is any physical donation made also.

Buddypress Version: 2.1.1I’m working with a client who is an author. She is starting a website as a way to market her book.
She wants to add a way for her audience to interact with each other. Buddypress seems like the way to go, but I haven’t used it before.
To keep the different plugins and Buddypress functions from conflicting, I’m thinking it might be a good idea to install Buddypress on a different subdomain, separate from her main site, with links between. I can make the design match between the two sites and link between them without installing all the same plugins on both sites.
Any feedback on that idea? Do you see me heading for trouble that I don’t know about?
I thought we could start a Topic about Beta Testing the next WordPress any conflicts working with BuddyPress. I hope this encourages others to report any Bugs with BuddyPress installed on Development site that may not be developer and open to the general community of any Issues they have run into.
Topic: BuddyPress on Subsite
I have an interesting situation I am hoping someone can help me with. I was tasked with merging two sites into a multi-site. The “main” site is NOT BuddyPress. The “sub” site IS BuddyPress. We merged all the users into the Network Users. I can go up to Network users and see all 8000 users there. If a user logs in on the main site, they can navigate to the subsite (i.e.: the BuddyPress) site just fine.
However, today I saw a “Pending” notification at the subsite (i.e.: the BuddyPress) site. However, when I go to the BuddyPress site and click on the Users -> Pending, I get the message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” I am an Administrator on the BuddyPress site and a SuperAdmin on the Network.
I’ve also set the define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 8 ); in my wp-config file.
I’ve researched all over the internet on how to set BuddyPress up as a subsite only (i.e.: not at the Network). There is confusing information out there whether this is possible or not. I am very afraid to activate BuddyPress at the Network level because we absolutely don’t want it for the “main” site.
Please, someone let me know if/how this setup is possible?
