I wonder how one can get bbpress post id from buddypress activity id. I looked at all the files mostly in bp-activity folder and I can’t find the right function.

I’m currently developing a buddypress site where all users with their profile are are already setup by the administrators and not the users themselves.
I’ve no problem creating the users and filling the profiles but I noticed that all these new members are not visible at the ‘members’ page until they’ve been logged in at least one time.
Is there a way to show all users on the members page regardless of their status (never logged in/logged in before)?
If not there’s no other way then logging them all in but it would be nice if that shouldn’t be case as their are quite a few of them 😉
I’m in exactly in the same boat as @kamillamonkey on this one – “It wont change it from the DEFAULT ROLE set in WordPress/Settings/General/New User Default Role [Subscriber].”
I can go in after a new user registers and ‘manually’ switch the user role, but alas, at least for me, I’m not getting the roles assigned based on the user_roles & cases as outlined above when they register.
I’m using BuddyPress 2.0.1 & WordPress 3.9.1
Seems odd that the new user role would not be assigned, as the tutorial/code in @noizeburger ‘s example looks very solid! Any chance this has to do with something new/recent in BuddyPress 2.0.1?

i see in phpmyadmin monitor some problem when some user send invitation. For example 5 or 10 on the trot.
I see that is a lot of queries to database.
how to reduce it?

I basically cannot see the entire top portion of the page, which includes my site’s navigation bar. I probably should have mentioned that I am also unable to see the Buddypress Admin bar.
I tried changing the margins to see if the missing portion would show up, but that did not solve the problem.

@shibbymintay Not clear what you mean by that. Do you mean everything visually “below” the admin bar is gone?
I think the problem stems from trying to load the Buddypress bar at the top of the page. Sometimes when I load my site the regular nav bar will appear for a fraction of a second and then disappear.
If I knew where in the code is the Buddypress bar is loaded maybe I could hack it to make it work
@ubiq00 Ask your hosting company if they can host BuddyPress installations and point them to the codex link above. You might need to upgrade as some shared hosting plans can’t handle BP.
Since you’re new to WordPress and BuddyPress, might I suggest before upgrading hosting plans, that you test WordPress/BuddyPress via local install through XAMPP https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/installing-a-local-server/installing-xampp/
For my subdirectory I created the /community page
@swoopswoop Just to clarify, creating a new page titled “Community” and adding the BP component links under that does not a subdirectory make 🙂 i.e., if you did not create a multisite installation nor create a physical subdirectory, then BuddyPress is installed at the root of your WP installation. By the same token, bbPress is also installed in the same way.
Re-run permalinks settings again via admin menu Settings > Permalinks choosing option other than default to remove 404.

@jaciando1 I see the correct number of blog posts some users have published in admin Users > All Users panel under the “Posts” column. Have you done some basic troubleshooting -> https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/troubleshooting/

After activating BuddyPress, you need to go to admin menu Settings > BuddyPress where there are different panels – Components, Pages, and Settings – to help you configure your community settings. Did you do that already? https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-components/
If it still doesn’t work, where are you hosted – locally or online webhost?
I’m using WordPress/BuddyPress for my International Marriage Agency website where American men can view profiles of Russian women for marriage. I want the men to register but their profiles should be invisible to everybody except themselves and the admin. Only women’s profiles should be visible. How can I do this? How can I have the default ‘Subscriber’ role have those member profiles be invisible and the women’s profiles changed to a different role where their profiles would be visible. Thank you.

Thanks for stopping in. I know, I know, there are a lot of similar posts out there for what I’m looking for- but normally it’s 1 of the 2 options I’m looking for. Also, many of them are dated.
I’m hoping somebody may be able to suggest a buddypress plugin that can do the things listed in the title:
-Add Custom Titles/Ranks
->Add Custom Site Privileges/Permissions for said Titles/Ranks
The context of their use would be in a online gaming community setting. Thanks!

Actually I hide the admin bar on my pages. That’s the reason why I’m trying to build the exact same menu on another navigation bar.
I feel like it is a bug because here, it says that :
$bp->bp_nav “is the array used to render each component navigation menu item for the logged in user”
and
$bp->bp_options_nav “is the array used to render all of the sub navigation items for the $bp->bp_nav array”.
Actually I feel like I’m having the result of $bp->bp_users_nav.
Because it “is the array used to render each component navigation menu item for the displayed user (when you view a user that is not you).”
What do you guys think ?

I can’t figure this one out for the life of me. Here’s the procedure:
1. Admin of site creates new user
2. New user gets activation email
3. New user activates and is then sent an email with their username and password thanking them for logging in
4. Password says it is [User Set]; no admin ever set the password (it was not asked for) and the user in question is never prompted to set password
5. General confusion of the non-tech savvy admins and baffled users ensues
Is this default behavior? My company hired an independent contractor to make this site, and I am somewhat new to multisite, so I myself am somewhat confused here too. Not sure where to start trying to fix this problem. I deactivated Buddypress and the activation screen showed the randomly set WP password, which is what I want (and if I could even include it in an email that would be great!)
@mercime I’m trying to keep it within the same theme of the rest of the website, so I just want it to be in a subdirectory folder. I initially thought the problem was I needed a multisite, but then I would need to install a new theme and have new settings right?
For my subdirectory I created the /community page and I just wanted the buddypress and bbpress plugin to consider this the home page. Then everything else would be created underneath it, like /community/members, /community/forums/forum etc. It’s a business website so I need product pages off the root, keeping the forum contained to one portion of the site.

@swoopswoop To clarify, do you mean a physical subdirectory, i.e., you created a subdirectory folder, or do you mean a secondary site of a WP multisite installation with subdirectory structure?
I suggest you to read carefully the BP Codex (ie. anything about JS handling). 😉

I am trying to implement Buddypress on an existing site with a custom theme. Everything seems to work fine both in terms of functionality except when Buddypress is activated the site’s navigation bar which is at the top of the page and everything above it is cut off.
Does anyone know of an easy way to fix this, or a place I could look in my site’s files to try and come to a solution?

I would rather not link to my site as it is a test server for a client, but I am using the most recent Buddypress 2.0.1 and WordPress 3.9.1
Oh, I didn’t mention it. All recent versions. WP 3.9.1 BP 2.0.1
First I start with Salient theme, but it didn’t work. Then, I tried with others Twenty Something and other free themes that support Buddypress.
I’m considering other major theme that supports BP, but I’m holding before this problem is solved. I just want to see any one of my pages on my site shows sitewide activity stream without log-in.

I’m trying to make a new user menu (the same one that is in admin bar actually), so I’m using $bp->bp_nav and $bp->bp_options_nav to buid it up.
$bp->bp_nav has the current logged in user links so it’s ok.
But when I’m on someone else profile $bp->bp_options_nav has this profile links instead of the current logged in user links.
I’ve seen this topic whith the same problem has me but there is no solution there.
here is how I do it :
