December 25, 2012 at 6:25 am #148898In reply to: Mulisite β How to Get a Users Site/Blog URL
myladeybugg
ParticipantThanks @valuser. The code seems to take me back to the main blog on the multisite, not the actual users blog, but I think this is close!
Wish I was ok with PHP so I could mess around with the code to see if I could get it to work.
December 24, 2012 at 10:46 pm #148894In reply to: Shortcuts for top menu?
@mercime
ParticipantHow can I hide this menu item for users who are logged in only as it does not show up in the menus under Appearance.
@voopress The code above shows the link only for logged in users. The link won’t show up if they’re not logged in. Why would you want to “hide this menu item for users who are logged in only”?
instead of hacking the php file
There’s no hacking being done here π You’re legitimately adding a filter to include the dynamic link to the menu. You can change the markup in the code posted just so those additional class/es would match those of the IfMenu’s. I’m not aware of any menu plugin which allows you to add a dynamic link.

Participantthere is no difference between BP login and WP login the only thing that can be a bit different is registration.

Participant@factorian Re the how to’s in applying the patch: if this is your first time to do anything like this, I would suggest that you implement it on a test installation and not a live site.
Go to https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/6326 the files you’d want to change are listed there. Add codes with green backgrounds and delete code in file with red backgrounds. Or, if you know how to use SVN (there are many online tutorials) then you can apply the patch to check if this works for you.

ParticipantIt is not a lightbox. How are logins handled in Buddypress. How do you avoid getting the registration page all the time?
December 24, 2012 at 2:32 am #148867In reply to: Adding Extraa Profile Fields
@mercime
Participant@hindicell as Ben mentioned above, go to Users > Profile Fields. You have the option of presenting the choices via Radio Buttons, Select Boxes or Multi Select Box

fagiano1973
ParticipantI resolved,
for those who have the same need to modify files in / yoursitename.com / wp-content / plugins / BuddyPress / bp-activity / bp-activity-template.php
on lines 144 and 347 replace ‘per_page’ => 20 with the number you want eg ‘per_page’ => 50December 23, 2012 at 9:28 am #148838In reply to: Listing user blogs in user profile
@mercime
ParticipantIf you have a multisite installation and allowed users to create blogs, each user will have a “Sites” tab where the the blogs created by respective user is listed.
You can change name “Sites” to “My Blogs” by creating a new Page named “My Blogs” and then go to Network Admin > Settings > BuddyPress > Pages and change Site Tracking page from “Sites” to newly created “My Blogs” page.

December 23, 2012 at 3:02 am #148784In reply to: E-mail Register
@mercime
ParticipantThat’s the default link for the registration page.
You can change it to example.com/join-us/ or something like that by creating a page e.g. Join Us and assigning that page as your Registration page in Settings > BuddyPress > Pages.
After you’ve activated your account, you can always go to wp-login.php to log in.
@mercime
ParticipantCopy the “BuddyPress Component Finishing Styles” from https://codex.buddypress.org/legacy/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and paste to the bottom of your theme’s style.css file and adjust to taste. Includes bringing in the widths of item and sub navigation containers and removing the bullet points to the BP lists in different components.

@mercime
Participant@sjroda that happened because of the many changes wrought in WP 3.5
We pretty much go along with what the mothership – WordPress – does. Even if you deactivate BuddyPress, you’d see the same behavior with featured images etc.December 23, 2012 at 1:33 am #148778In reply to: BP icon across all sub sites?

Participant@mercime thankyou for that, looks very hopeful.
This will be possible in 1.7?
Will still need a plugin to do the job, or just a few added functions/filters in /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php ??
Looks great, but I’m not sure exactly how to implement.December 22, 2012 at 10:01 pm #148772In reply to: BuddyPress Moderation 0.1.6
@mercime
Participant1. the plugin has not been updated since WP 3.2.1
2. it’s a weekend and it’s one that’s before a major holiday here so many forum volunteers are shopping or just taking some well-deserved rest or traveling somewhere, etc.
3. https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/bp-moderation/trunk/bpModLoader.php
You can still activate the plugin network-wide even if you remove that “Network: true” from that file I linked to above in your plugins/bp-moderation/ folder so you could access it in subsite’s plugin panel. Having said that, no guarantees that the plugin would still work with WP 3.5December 22, 2012 at 9:15 pm #148769In reply to: BuddyPress Moderation 0.1.6

ParticipantIn BuddyPress, you register and you get an activation email by default to edit profile, post status updates, create a blog or create a group, etc. Register at BuddyPress official test site at http://testbp.org to see how it goes.
