ParticipantI’ll give the bbPress Threaded Replies plugin a try. It could work, seeing as I’m using bbPress as a standalone plugin, with BuddyPress. Thanks Chouf1

ParticipantThanks for the help everybody. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the sidebar to align correctly, however I did accomplish what I was originally looking for. I was able to remove the sidebar from my buddypress pages, while keeping it on my other posts/pages.
Thanks again!

ParticipantSorry for the ridiculous ambiguity of my original post. Looking at code all day is beginning to make me think like a machine.
I was editing the theme’s header directly by file. The theme I’m using is Frisco for Buddypress.
And oh crap, I just deactivated Buddypress to answer your question and now all that I have on my website is an SQL error. lol

Participant@mercime the instructions seem very clear and easy to follow, yet it still doesn’t work for me. I deleted the folders out of my server, created the header and .php files, uploaded them into my server and added the css to the Sahifa stylesheet.
The pages don’t even come up at all. I’ve even disabled plugins to see what the problem is and nothing has worked 🙁

ParticipantHello Hugo,
I need a little more detail on how to do each of your above suggestions. I know how to add a new page to regular wordpress but dont know how to make it a buddypress page. As for dragging the loops I have no idea what to do. I follow instructions pretty well so if you take me through the steps it will be more than appreciated.December 18, 2012 at 5:45 pm #147779In reply to: [Resolved] Frontend control panel wont expand

ParticipantI was editing the header of my theme
@number_6 Clarifcation please: editing header of your theme from the front end or via wp-admin > Appearance > Header? WP/BP versions? What theme are you using? If you deactivate BuddyPress does the “control panel thingymajig” expand?

ParticipantEither my template is screwed up
Note that the instruction also includes that if you’ve revised any of the BP templates in the 6 folders, delete those 6 folders in server and go through Appearance > BP compatibility again for a clean slate.
Did you upload the two new files sidebar-buddypress.php nd header-buddypress.php to your theme folder in server i.e., wp-content/themes/sahifa/ per instruction? I don’t see the div elements added in those two files in the source code of http://respectthefresh.com/rtf-members/
Otherwise, your sidebar won’t be dropping below content area.Is the css from this page supposed to go into the Sahifa css
Yes. Easiest way is to add those at the bottom of your Sahifa style.css file. Then adjust to taste.

ParticipantHey @mercime, thank you for your suggestion!
Either my template is screwed up, or I’m a complete idiot. I followed the steps to integrate BP into the Sahifa theme, yet the same problem still occurs.
Is the css from this page (https://codex.buddypress.org/legacy/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/) supposed to go into the Sahifa css, or do I create a new file and upload it into a certain folder?December 18, 2012 at 5:04 pm #147774msmithwisedu

I just tried your method and it worked like a dream. You are pretty much my favorite person in the world right now. I have been trying to crack this with plugins and the like for about a month and I randomly revisited this topic not 12 hours after you explain how to do it. Bravo and thank youDecember 18, 2012 at 4:52 pm #147772In reply to: want to make compatible with bp my theme
@mercime
Participant@slkmclaren Sure, you can make the BP template files compatible with Harmony theme. Initial scan shows you only need to create 2 new files to make it work. Have to be sure though.
To begin, create a new topic in this forum re your Harmony Theme compatibilty. Open up your theme’s header.php file, copy all code and paste into pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated URL in the new topic you’ll be creating. Do the same for your theme’s page.php, index.php, sidebar.php and footer.php files. I’d like to see the whole picture.

Participant@djpaul cannot recreate the issue. Checked http://studioself.com/file/template-bp-registration and noticed it was not corrected per boone’s fix bp_blogs_get_subdomain_base() in ticket posted above.
@johnnyalxndr either you need to update your theme’s register.php file yourself per fix posted in trac ticket above and/or contact theme author about the issue. Are you using the latest version of Salutation theme?
December 18, 2012 at 3:44 pm #147765@mercime
ParticipantI’ve done all I’ve could to get it to at least align correctly, but nothing has worked.
I’ve posted instructions on Step 3 of the BP Compatibility Process for the Sahifa theme. You only need to create 2 files for theme compatibility. See http://wp.me/p1I84P-3m

Participant@mercime: is this theme can be integrated with BuddyPress? I checked the links you have provided above. It seems they are FacePress and PinBoard themes.

WebEndev
ParticipantHi Paul,
I did upgrade to WP 3.5 just before the upgrade to BP 1.6.2.
Doesn’t BuddyPress create the Member role when it first installs?
Regarding the data in the database – I had thought it would be OK, but wanted to verify.
I’m just not sure what my next step is going to be. I’ve never seen a user role disappear like that before…

@mercime
ParticipantWhat they said. Most important, backup database & server files and to expect that plugins/themes from BP 1.1 won’t work in current WP/BP versions.

December 18, 2012 at 2:41 pm #147754In reply to: Same Nav Bar Network Wide
@mercime
ParticipantThat’s default behavior of multisite installations whether BuddyPress is installed or not.
There are a variety of ways to make a sitewide main navigation. One of the ways is http://wpmututorials.com/plugins/networkwide-menu/

magix111
ParticipantNo, this is the actual line define(‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 3 );
I should also note this is a subdirectory multisite install where the primary mu site is an established blog (mgx.com) and the buddypress subsite is in a virtual subdirectory.

Participant@djpaul templating is a bit confusing between bbPress (shipped with BP) for group forums and bbPress as separate plugin for a single forum. So if i understand you and the codex, i can change the bbPress template for group and/or standalone from a bbpress directory in the child theme, and in the case of the standalone option, using bbPress shortcodes ?

ParticipantThanks for the response @4dmedia. That works to disable the sidebar from the entire site, but I just wanted to disable it for my buddypress pages (activity, members, etc.). Is there any way I can do that?

Participant@r-a-y why do we need to create brand new gmail account and then activate the plugin, why we can’t use older account? I have one almost new (3 weeks old almost virgin account) and after setting up username and password and enabled IMAP I always get this warning:
BuddyPress Reply By Email cannot initialize. Please navigate to “BuddyPress > Reply By Email” to fill in the required fields and address the webhost warnings.
Error: Unable to connect to inbox – Can’t connect to gmail-imap.l.google.com,993: Connection timed out
