That’s the problem, I tested again with “User accounts may be registered” setting – not “Both sites and user accounts can be registered” enabled – and I’m getting the page not found since it’s looking for /blogs/create/ and somehow not directing to /register/. Again, this is via the wp meta widget > register link.

I’m also getting the same error when trying to click the “register” link attached to the login screen on a site other than the primary.

I found a filed bug from 10 months ago, it says that it’s fixed, but I am somehow recreating that same issue…today! lol

So do you think those 3 errors I posted above regarding the user login key and the message “The indexes user_login and user_login_key seem to be equal and one of them could possibly be removed.” found in the phpadmin panel, there is no correlation and I shouldn’t be concerned with either message?

[RESOLVED – for some reason when I enabled the other theme it disabled the default bp-theme in the network. Once it was re-enabled it, no Cheatin Uh? message] Lastly, not related to this same topic, but I thought I resolved the Cheatin Uh? message after reinstall, only to discover when changing to a different bp theme, then trying to switch back to the default bp-theme, I get that dang message again! [/]

I bet it is some kind of anti-spam thing against smaller countries like Taiwan. But I am able to use http://codex.wordpress.org just fine when logged in or not.

I solved this problem.

The plugin “BuddyPress Friends Only Activity Stream” claimed to only show activity from your friends and the admins only. I guess since you can’t be friends with yourself, it hides your activity as well. :/

I may look into the plugin’s files later to see if there’s a workaround for this, but as of right now it’s staying deactivated.

Hi ray. I tried your link but still have the same problem. After creating the group and forum thru the group, i have to go back into the group admin and tick the forum box again to make it work. it seems to be creating the forum; just not associating the group with it the first time around. Here is an update on how I’m dealing with the spam user registrations on my Battle City site.

At some point I realized, I will never defeat the spam user registrations. My efforts helped to limit them, but not eliminate the problem. So I decided, maybe what I need to do is limit the impact. The spam user registrations are still there, but now I barely see them. This is what I do:

To limit the spam user registrations, I use “Buddypress Humanity” and “SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam“. “Askimet” then picks up on most of the spam comments posted by those who still manage to register.

Next, I use “BuddyPress Block Activity Stream Types“. With this plugin I hide all new user registration messages from the Activity stream.

Finally, I use “User Spam Remover” plugin to go in once every couple of weeks to mass delete 95% of all spam users.

This doesn’t eliminate the problem, but makes life more manageable and keeps most of the spam users out of sight unless they manage to get past Askimet and post some messages.
