    It’s all cool. This is the Requests and Feedback forum πŸ™‚

    @sooskriszta
    can share the enhancement tickets he/she posted in BuddyPress Trac and lobby for such, exercising first amendment rights. Ticket #5008 reminds me of the original BP theme which had the avatars of group admin/mod under the avatar with member avatars below it πŸ™‚

    I would like to merge my members Profile with the author β€œprofile” geotheme is imposing us. I would like to remake the whole members page and setting too.

    @delarnmini
    customizations for a premium theme is beyond the scope of the assistance we provide at BuddyPress forums. Contact theme developers for assistance or you could hire a developer to assist you at http://jobs.wordpress.net or at https://buddypress.org/support/forum/plugin-forums/bp-jobs-board/

    @rotju best place to search or ask this is at theme dev’s forums. I recall someone mentioning that you need a plugin (don’t know if free or paid) to make Yoothemes compatible with BuddyPress. Don’t know if a yootheme plugin is still required at this time.

    Why can I not create topics in my group forums!?
    This is ridiculous. I keep getting ‘There was an error when creating the topic’ yet it shows as being created in the groups home feed but forums tab is empty as there are no topics!
    Its strange that this feature works when a group has no members or forums associated with it.
    Please help!!

    I’ve been doing that for the past couple hours and I think I have found one thing that may be the difference between the two sites. I’ve posted about it here (https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/bbpress-menu-showing-up-at-top-of-admin-dashboard/) – not sure if you would have any knowledge on that or how to solve it.

    Ok, thanks, I’ve just posted something on the support forum there. On the other site it is the same theme. I’ve tried to activate the bp-default and twenty twelve, and still no luck. Thanks for the help.

    @marximusmg
    The only place I know to contact the author is on the plugins page support forum.
    On the site that you are using it successfully are you using a different theme? If so you may want to try activating twenty twelve or bp-default to see if there is something in the theme that may be causing the issue.

    I’m having the exact same issue. Have completely up to date buddypress and wp installations, deactivated all plugins, then tried buddypress pending activations plugin by itself and then unconfirmed plugin by itself. No luck, still have users with blank forum roles and completely unactivated accounts.

    the original group based forums have been depreciated now what happens is each group is it’s own forum/topic in the regular site wide forums which are connected vis the forum tab in the groups page.

    doesn’t really seem like this is much of a support forum hey. Posts get ignored for years at a time and some issues seem to still be lingering after long periods of time like the RSS for groups issues

    Okay, so I should have checked the database first. In the activity table the links are being recorded wrongly, without /page/ and number, so it must happen at time of posting. Would like to know if anyone has any suggestions why?

    I wish I could show you the site, but it’s behind security for internal use only!

    I too had trouble getting my head around the problem. What I really wanted was a blog that everyone could use in all workgroups, but filter by workgroup. And based on credentials, some users would never see some groups postings. However, I don’t think WordPress is really set up for that… at least I never managed to find a way to do it, or a plug-in that would do it for me!

    After beating my head against that wall, I eventually did what someone had suggested – build a Commons in a Box site and test it.

    It looks more complicated than it is. My primitive understanding is like this:

    – Commons in a Box (CBox) requires a Multi-Site installation of WordPress (easy to do)
    – When first installed, CBox gives you the base site that everyone in your group would use. The Infinity theme it uses by default is fine for my purposes but I think you can configure other themes if you want.
    – CBox automagically creates subsites on demand. I created a subsite for each general workgroup I wanted to keep separate blogs for.
    – Users can be given access to any or all of the subsites, with different privileges on each.
    – Subsites can use pretty much whatever theme you want. I use P2 for the features you already know about.

    You can set up groups, which seems to do about what I did manually… that confused me at first because I thought groups would give me different functionality… it didn’t, so my recommendation would be to leave that part alone, or let it create all the subsites. Mixing manual creation with Groups creation was confusing for me and didn’t add anything of use!

    You probably don’t want the forums activated either, unless you need to add that function in addition to the top posting P2 blog! I felt the forum would just spread information around too much, making it difficult to find what you want.

    I strongly suggest you set up a sandbox and give Multi-Site and CBox a try… πŸ™‚

    *As for the registration page- I am now getting this when I go to the registration page as a logged out user:
    User registration is currently not allowed.

    *Forums: I think the problem could be that bbpress is not integrated correctly. Under Legacy Group Forums > bbPress Configuration there is a file uploaded and then in red next to the file it says File does not exist
    When I click on “repair” it says I do not have the authorization to repair.

    @jamie771 Suggest that you post in the BuddyPress Media plugin’s support forums about this issue.

    Yes, I did try it. Same problem occurs without contact form 7.
    I have latest gantry framework, but they didn’t update for a while… aaand yeah, it works ok without gantry :/
    *sigh* ill try to hit them on gantry forums. I’m too green on coding to remake theme to work like I want it to without it ^^’

    @patricksaad Thank you! Can it also be added for comments? friend requests, activity, etc. we know bbpress has it so everything else other than forum posts (via bbpress) would be helpful to have throttling

    Screenshot would help us see your issue. As @mercime suggested, you really need to read the codex in the link he supplied. It is straightforward and well documented there.

    OMG! Just had a major break thru! Forget figuring out how to invoke the theme’s fullwidth display CSS. I figured out how to have a customized sidebar on my BP and bbP pages in my child theme, which is way better. Check it out at http://sndhome.org/groups/ and http://sndhome.org/forums/. What a great way to end the week! I’m going to quit working on this now, before I break something.

    @theoptimystic
    Did you install sitewide and/or group forums? What’s in your Settings > Forums – Archive Slug – Forums Base? Is it “forums” like the page title “Forums” and the slug below the page title “forums”?

    You could try to create a new Page titled Discussions and add the forums index shortcode then publish the page. Go Settings > Forums – Archive Slug – Forums Base and use discussions as the slug. Go to http://thinkwithyourheart.com/discussions/ and check if forums index page is working.

    As for the registration page … If so I tried clicking that and it’s the same thing where it directs me to the home page.

    That is default behavior when you go to the Register page while you’re still logged in. Log out first then visit the Register page.

    Thanks for the help @mercime. I’m making progress. I did as you instructed and placed the buddypress.php and bbpress.php files in the root of my theme directory. Previously, I had the customized buddypress.php file in my theme’s buddypress directory. Now, the sidebar doesn’t display on the groups or forums pages, but the main content is still not expanding to full width, the way it does on the Calendar page http://sndhome.org/calendar/ (which is associated with the All-in-One Calendar plugin).

    I can tell that this theme accomplishes the full-width display by swapping CSS settings. But even after spending some time digging through the theme’s files, I haven’t been able to locate the code that controls this behavior. I can just see that it works for pages that aren’t associated with BuddyPress or bbPress. I would just change the theme’s default template, except the template author doesn’t provide a default option that enables the full-width display. πŸ™

    I have posed the question to the template developer as well. Still awaiting a response there. I really appreciate your help. I’m learning a lot today! πŸ™‚

    As for the registration page are you referring to the check box under settings>general that says
    “Membership Anyone can register”
    If so I tried clicking that and it’s the same thing where it directs me to the home page.

    Maybe it’s important to note that I also use a membership software, WishlistMember.

    Thanks!
