Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to make sure that the BP Templates’ page title’s header which have`

Save files.
== I sadly did not keep track of weird, off-hand alterations I might have made to the files I brought into my theme from core ==
Back up DB and server files then re-upload BuddyPress manually. If you mean you copied the bp-default theme and made it a stand-alone theme and uploaded it to wp-content/themes/ folder then I see no issues. On the other hand, if you made changes directly to bp-default theme in wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default, then that could be the reason why you’re having these issues.
I did choose the site wide option and unchecked “discussion forums” from the buddypress menu settings option. I also followed the instructions on the link @mercime.
I’m going to try that now @modemlooper
== My end goal is to not have the “group” forums, just normal forums that don’t require group access. ==
@yoyobestbuy if you want sitewide forums only (aka bbPress plugin) then go to dashboard menu Settings > BuddyPress > Components and uncheck “Discussion Forums” https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
BuddyPress has bbPress so delete the extra plugin. Then go into settings > BuddyPress in the admin. Click forum tab and setup bbPress
@sbrajesh is working on this… http://buddydev.com/support/forums/topic/relationship-status-plugin/
Does anyone have a wild idea I haven’t thought of? I’ve been back in forth between this forum and DAP support but I’m totally stumped. The only difference that I can see in the users I created in Dap synched to WP vs. the users I created in WP alone is that…
The WP only users: BP displays their full name in the forums, but the profile page links to their user name. This is the working users config!
The DAP users: BP displays their username in the forums and the profile is also their username. These users cannot access their profiles.
When I campare the two in WordPress/Users, I cannot see any difference, so there must be something happening during registration, right? Is there any way to alter the way BP registers users or does anyone have a solution for this?
Thanks for all of your help!
I use WP Google Translate plugin on 2 sites and as @hnla says It works quite good. I just got offered $7.5 million dollars for one of my sites. Time will tell if the offer was legitimate.
I’ve used google translate on a few occasions and it’s really quite good. What is your native language ,as if you are google translating it does appear to be struggling, much as we are sorry to say.
Is ceremony kin to macaroni? LOL!
Re permissions error:
– Please post issue.when BuddyPress is installed in a network created by Networks for WP plugin at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/networks-for-wordpress
Re: what the “use excisting installation” & “install group forums” differences are.
– If you have never installed Group Forums before, i.e., no bb-config.php at the root of your WP install, then you would click on “Install Group Forums” button
– Click “Use existing installation” means using the Group Forums (BP’s internal custom bbPress) which was created in BP version prior to upgrade to latest version.
Re: And just in case I need to have more added to wp-config.php, this is the BP related define I have in there: define(‘BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG’, true);
– https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/bp_enable_multiblog/
At this stage, I suggest removing that from your wp-config.php until you resolve permissions issues
Hi Gordon,
I have a similar issue and have posted here https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/new-users-profile-problem/
I still can’t get mine working but maybe one of these fixes will work for you…
@mercime
thanks for your continued attention.
– I have not tried reuploading/reinstalling as that might put me back in modifications (though I haven’t touched core, I sadly did not keep track of weird, off-hand alterations I might have made to the files I brought into my theme from core..not many, but you see what i mean). Seems drastic, but might be the only option at this point. Though i need to wait for that to happen at the moment.
– I installed WP manually.
– Deactivated all the plugins (even the buddypress template pack, which didn’t have any effect) and the problem still remains
Well the simplest more I can not create any new topic!!
The reason is the lack of a department or classification when adopting topic so entered administration Control Panel to create a new classification or forum I did not find it .. !!

@mercime, I just created a new subsite and only activated BuddyPress and it’s giving me the same permissions error..
With the “Oh and it’s a subsite of a second network in that installation and I did add the multisite define to wp-config.php.” I mean the following:
I have famire.nl as the main site (main network). I am using the ‘Networks for WordPress’ plugin by David Dean to be able to add multiple networks in my installation. My site onexa.nl is one of the networks.
Inside that network I have a subsite called clients.onexa.nl (which I want to use as an extranet) and inside that site I have BuddyPress enabled.
I understand differences between sitewide & group forums are btw (can’t remember mentioning the sitewide forums though). What I’m not sure of is what the “use excisting installation” & “install group forums” differences are.
And just in case I need to have more added to wp-config.php, this is the BP related define I have in there: `define(‘BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG’, true);`
Mr. Hugo
What I do not understand your words talking not Aaklh seems it Google Translate mis ..!!
Who on earth is Ceremony?
A. Installing Forums for Groups only
Step 1. Go to admin dashboard > Settings > BuddyPress > Forums. Click on “Install Group Forums”
Step 2. New bbPress Installation. You’ve decided to set a new bbPress for forum management in BuddyPress. This is very simple and is usually just a one click process. When you’re ready, hit the link below. Click on “Complete Installation”
Here is the problem in step number three sugar you add this in the last config file bb-config.php
Did not work
Step 3. All done! Configuration settings have been saved to the file bb-config.php in the root of your WordPress install.

Define memory limit first before activating BuddyPress. If that fails, contact webhost re memory limit issue/s. Re syntax error -> https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/fatal-error-14/
@kpolkson
– Have you tried re-uploading BuddyPress manually via FTP/cpanel/etc?
– Did you install WP via webhost script or did you install it manually?
– Have you deactivated all plugins except BuddyPress to see if it is a plugin conflict?
@wizza Based on the structure of your theme, you need to change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your sportsmag theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder in server, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
`
with
`
Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to make sure that the BP Templates’ page title’s header which have`
` are changed to `
` and move to just above `
Save files.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I went through the process and all 6 folders were transferred to my theme’s folder. And oddly enough, all links work when I’m using my admin account. I’m able to edit my profile, change the avatar, etc. I can even see all the members in the activity panel, but when I click on their profile’s, the page is not found. Basically, members seem to be added to BP because they are allowed to post in the groups and forums and everyone is visible by username. The problem is that no profile page (except for admin) works…totally strange.
I’m testing BP on an active site (I know that this is not recommended), but I’m using digitalaccesspass and an integrated theme so it’s easier for me to troubleshoot with my plugs. So, there are no BP links setup in my menu at the time because I’m beta testing it out. If you go to http://www.mymusicmasterclass.com/members, http://www.mymusicmasterclass.com/groups, http://www.mymusicmasterclass.com/forums, etc. you’ll see what I’m talking about.
To make it more confusing, if I register a user with WP (bypassing DAP) it works even as a subscriber. So, there must be something going on when DAP syncs to WP. The thing is that it looks fine either way, so I’m not sure what I’m missing. When a user registers thorough DAP they’re automatically added to WP too and I can’t find a difference when comparing the 2. In both instances, the info looks identical. Am I missing something obvious here?
Thanks…
@illutic haven’t encountered the permissions issue in WP 3.4.2 multisite with BP 1.6.1 installs – with BP installed in main site or where BP is installed in subsite (and defined in wp-config.php). What do you mean by “Oh and it’s a subsite of a second network in that installation and I did add the multisite define to wp-config.php.” Did you install the WP MultiNetwork plugin on top of the Multisite installation and added BP MultiNetwork plugin?
