ParticipantSo if i use bbPress, in theory i could create a forum for each sub site then use something similar to the code you found to pull them into one page.

ParticipantOh and if this has been covered in the forums multiple times: search isn’t working for me (I get redirected to the homepage with just ?s added to the URL, adding it manually to the URL results in a search results page with titles only and a search form as the content of every result).

ModeratorbbPress can be network activated so each subsite can create forums but I’m not sure if the site wide forums option in BuddyPress can be network activated.

Participant1. Sure. If you want the complaints to be private, just set up a contact form. If you want complaints to be public or semi-private set up Group and/or Sitewide forums.
2. You need the Domain Mapping plugin. Then you need either:
– https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-multi-network/ OR
– http://buddydev.com/buddypress/introducing-buddypress-multi-network-plugin-create-multiple-separate-social-networks-on-a-single-buddypress-install/
You’d have to ask plugin devs whether either or both are compatible with Domain Mapping plugin though I haven’t heard issues with either so far.3. In either multinetwork plugins above, there are ways and means to do what you need – some coding required.
4. Yes, using either of the multinetwork plugin above, you do keep those components separate.
5. Yes, I posted both in #2
6. No, the networks do not have to use the same theme at all.
7. No limit to number of networks. One can only be limited by server and coding skills.

Participant@nstjwz Based on the structure of your theme, you need to use the first option, i.e., change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your simpolio theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder in server, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
``with
``Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `
…
` or `
..
` to `
// Titles Of Respective BP Page Templates //` and move to just right under “
Watch out when you do this in the /activity/index.php page.Save files.

modemlooper
ModeratorWhat items are you adding? Only profile links are hidden when logged out. If you add a link to say a forum topic it won’t be hidden.
There is a way to hide links. The current release is experimental. In next update there will be more items to add to a menu and I’ll explain how to hide other links on log out.
Please be patient, I’m testing different things to make it the best it can be.
September 30, 2012 at 6:20 pm #142716In reply to: [Resolved] Problem with Volt theme template
@mercime
Participant@raetona Based on the HTML structure of your theme, you will only need to create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to make the BP templates compatible with your theme.
If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your volt theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your volt theme folder in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /members, /groups, /register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
NOTE: If the following doesn’t work out for your installation as some options may not work within BP pages, please contact theme author and refer him/her to this topic.
A. COPY your theme’s header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the BOTTOM of the file, below other code contained within, add this:
`<?php
/* Fetch admin options. */
global $options;
foreach ($options as $value) {
if(isset($value) && isset ($value))
if (get_option( $value ) === FALSE) { $$value = $value; } else { $$value = get_option( $value );}
} ?>`Save file.

Participant@nggablog What you have in your main navigation – Forum > Gossip & Celebrity, etc. are from your Sitewide Forums (bbPress plugin). In the meantime, daniabrooks has not joined a Group with a forum and therefore has not posted any forum topics yet.

ParticipantThanks

I manage to convert SMF to phpbb and from phpbb to bbPress. However I didn’t like the bbPress-forum.. and somehow the different boards from SMF and phpbb didn’t work out in bbPress..
Is there some way to connect either SMF or phpbb to buddypress?
I found this: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/phpbb-single-sign-on/
and that might be a solution, but I think it would be better if it was more integrated with buddypressSeptember 29, 2012 at 6:38 pm #142678In reply to: Cannot Edit, Delete, Open or Sticky Forum Topics

Participant== option for sitewide forums to the left of that looks like it is not installed, the button says ‘configure sitewide forums’. ==
Sitewide Forums is bbPress plugin. Sitewide forums is activated in your installation, otherwise the button would show “Install Sitewide Forums”
Please make sure that your Group and/or Sitewide Forums are configured properly https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/

Participant@mercime Good question. I don’t believe I have Sitewide and Group forums installed at the same time. When I go to the forums tab of the Buddypress set up, I see that group forums are installed and the button says ‘uninstall group forums’ whereas the option for sitewide forums to the left of that looks like it is not installed, the button says ‘configure sitewide forums’.
I do have bbpress plugin installed alongside buddypress (i thought that was required for the group forums). but I don’t think sitewide is activated (nor do I need it activated).
Any ideas?
thanks. -kp

@mercime
Participant@bibliata It could be a template problem because it might need to be upgraded for compatibility with BP 1.6+. Have you checked out theme author’s forums if others are having the same issue?
On the other hand, could also be the widgets/plugin. What widgets are you trying to add to static front page? Are these default WP or BP widgets or widgets by other plugins?
