MemberMAJOR FRUSTRATION — BP FORUM TELLS ME “It looks like you’ve already said that!”
September 24, 2012 at 6:39 pm #142363frank tredici
Member@modemlooper (bp forum not letting me post nicely, so I am splitting my reply in 2 parts)
Out-of-the-box, BP has a Send Invites link on the Groups forum. We don’t want that link unless you are a Group Admin or Group Moderator. Currently, we only have 1 private group set at this time with a group moderator. It is Group 17. But I know we will be getting more and more of these instances and I want to avoid hard coding the Groups each time to control the Send Invites link.
See my code below from a plug-in I wrote. It is in next thread post.

@mercime
Participant@farandhigh if I’m not mistaken you’ll have to add a form/forum on the screen/template which is provided by BuddyVents. Since that is a premium plugin which the community has no access to unless purchased, you should be asking the plugin author.

KeymasterRequest for what? If you’re going to resurrect an 8 month old forum post, at least provide more information as to what your concern is, or better yet, start a new thread.
FWIW, BP 1.6 included a fix to some of the most obvious problems around the WP Cache support, but it still needs a full audit.

ParticipantHi, thank you @mercime ,
I dont think the fact that it is this or that plugin could help,
The thing is to create forums with forms only,
but it looks more complicated than I thought as I dont see examples of that … mmhh
Cheers,

Participant@donsony first deactivate bbPress from Plugins > Installed. Next, check if your bb-config.php is still at the root of your WP installation and if the DB/user information is still correct.

@mercime
Participant@farandhigh you should be posting this at this in forums of buddyvents plugin author. I’ve added Buddyvents to the title of this post just in case someone who uses the plugin could help you.

Participant== It was installed with Fantastico. Is that a problem for BuddyPress? ==
@clamoreaux There have been issues using a webhost script with BuddyPress https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#system-and-server-requirements
== Do I have to use WPMU to use BuddyPress? ==
No. You can install BuddyPress on single WP installation since BP 1.2
== Is there any good documentation that walks one through setting up and using BuddyPress? ==
The BuddyPress Codex is your friend

ParticipantSomebody already wrote that, but I don’t remember who and where and forum searching doesn’t work and if I am trying to publish that code here for you it says : It looks like you’ve already said that!

ParticipantI found the bb-config.php file and it’s still at the root of my installation. (However, for whatever reason, I can’t seem to find my wp-config.php file…not sure how that’s possible or if it’s related; maybe I’m just overlooking it somehow…)
If I can’t access my backups, is there any other way to fix this? The group forums hadn’t been used much before I lost them, so I’m more concerned with getting them up and running again than I am with retrieving their previous contents.
Thank you. I always appreciate the help!

Participant@myhero I suggest that you get myarcadeplugin to work perfectly first in a plain WP install before you activate BuddyPress and use the BP Arcade theme. Best places to ask for support are at theme author’s or arcade plugin’s forums.

ParticipantI’ve kept looking and looking but I can’t seem to find the code which produce a link to the latest post of a topic.
Can someone in BuddyPress team share what is used in this buddypress forum to link the timestamp to the latest post?

ParticipantOkay, this idea works for the logged in users’ menu, but when I log out, the navigation menu is gone altogether. It’s not using “secondary-menu” at all.
I’m using a child theme of bp-default, so I figured it work just as easily as seems it should, but it doesn’t. When I log back in, the correct “primary” menu shows up, and everything works fine.
I’m sure I’m doing something idiotic here, but I can’t figure it out.
I appreciate any and ALL help you can give! Thanks, again.

ParticipantI’m also having this issue, has anybody figured out a different solution?
I tried David’s suggestion but it didn’t work for me.
I’m running WP 3.4.2 and BP 1.5.5. I have created over 150 groups, and really hope I don’t have to rebuild all of them.
Thanks!

Participant== The plugin buddypress/bp-loader.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist. ==
@prolet What Paul said. Activating BP Template Pack plugin wouldn’t in any way cause that error. We have successfully “template-packed” more than 80 WP themes in this forum alone https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes
