In reply to: Replace BBPress forum with BuddyPress forum?
Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterAh hah. Then you need to go to Tools > bbPress Importer in wp-admin (or something similar – I can’t remember what it’s called) to move your content from bbP1 to bbP2.

ParticipantThanks for your reply @Paul Gibbs. Yes, I am using bbPress 2.1, BuddyPress 1.6 RC1 and WordPress 3.4.1.
I’ve done what you say above but I still see no changes on my site. The group forums are still working fine the same as before and the bbPress sitewide forum is still working fine the same as before. But I can’t see any signs of integration between the two.
What should I see? For example, should the group forums be listed in the main bbPress forum too, under the “group forums parent” selected in WP-Admin>Settings>Forum that you refer to above?

ParticipantSOLVED! A problem with the BuddyPress Template plugin (for the double post) and a caching plugin (for the disappearing “Post a New Topic”).

ModeratorIt’s going to take a little bit of code diving but this thread should shed some light on how you can do that: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/sort-groups-alphabetically-by-default-bp-12/

Keymaster@sydneydesigner You need bbPress 2.1, BuddyPress 1.6 (any version of, incl. the RC1), and WordPress 3.4.1.
Disable the Groups Forum component inside the BuddyPress components setting page in wp-admin, then go to Settings > Forum. This is the bbPress settings page. Scroll right down to the bottom, and you’ll see some new settings to enable the forums.
Release notes are still being written up, sorry. There’s a high-level overview in https://buddypress.org/2012/07/buddypress-1-6-beta-2/ for now.
July 25, 2012 at 6:07 am #137943In reply to: [Resolved] Page not found, by Permalinks
Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterI would suggest you start by only trying to get WordPress working (no plugins or custom themes). Once you have custom permalinks working, then move on to BuddyPress and bbPress.
If it doesn’t work in WordPress, I would suggest asking for help / searching for help on the WordPress.org forums as people will have found themselves with this problem before.

I’ve just created a new trac ticket. If anyone else is having the same problems and want to follow up on it, the trac ticket is here: https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1915

ParticipantHi Paul,
I’ve updated to BP1.6-RC1 and am currently testing this out on my site to try to help out. Does bbPress 2 currently work for group forums on BP1.6-RC1 or do we need to wait for the BP 1.6 proper to be released?
In any case, I’d appreciate some guidance on how to integrate my previous (BP1.5.6) group and sitewide BBPress forums together. I understand that BP1.6 does this, but whatever I’ve tried so far, they still stay separate.
Are there any BP1.6-RC1 release notes on forums (or all the improvements for that matter) telling me what is new so I can focus my testing and help out better?
Many thanks.

ParticipantAdditionally, when I answer the “What’s New in X” question, it posts my reply twice….then both disappear! Something weird is going on – it wasn’t broken before. I am using BP 1.5.6 and WordPress 3.4.1. Thanks in advance!

Here is a 30-second screencast I made showing the issue in action as well as the weird solution.

MemberThanks very much for your replies. The ConstantContact API hadn’t responded via the WordPress forums so I thought I’d try you. The CC integration is pretty critical for me, if it doesn’t work, then I probably can’t use Buddypress.
The CC API support doesn’t say whether it works with BuddyPress or not. I’ve just realised that I hadn’t tagged the forum post correctly so they might not have picked it up, I’ve done this now, so maybe I’ll hear from them.
It’s hard for me to give any further information. If I switch BP off and S2members on, CC fields appear as I’d expect, switch BP on and S2members off and nothing appears on the BP registration screen.

MemberThanks Paul. I got it sorted. Turns out my theme designer actually removed the elements I wanted and a few lines of code in the css fixed my up. Looking forward to buddypress 1.6. Thanks again!

ModeratorWhat you are asking for sounds beyond what I would expect a theme to do. However, this forum really isn’t the best place to ask I would point you to ask the theme developers. I do know this may not be what you want to hear but truly they will be the ones that know their product the best, not those of us on this forum. I hope you have success contacting them and get a theme that works for you.

ModeratorAre you trying to build your own widget or add them as menu links? Ideally you shouldn’t remove things from the admin bar as that’s a control panel really for users but this link should provide a starting point for you:

KeymasterIn BuddyPress 1.5.6, you have the choice of two forum types: site wide, and group forums. Both are powered by bbPress; the former by bbPress 2 (the plugin), the latter by bbPress 1 (the standalone software). Right now, you can’t use bbPress 2 for group forums.
When BuddyPress 1.6 is released, you will be able to use bbPress 2 for group forums. And that’s what we’re strongly encouraging everyone to do; bbPress 2 is a much better piece of software, and is in active development (bbPress 1 is dead).

ParticipantThe correct way to do is using the function:
bp_loggedin_user_domain()
See, these other recent threads: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/link-to-profile-messages-friends-and-settings/

ParticipantCan anyone help me?
I’m trying to filter the activity stream so that it only displays ‘published’ forum topics and replies.
I’m using bbPressModeration, which marks all forum topics and posts as ‘pending’, until the administrator approves and publishes the content. The problem is that pending content still appears in the activity stream.
I’m using the code below for my custom activity stream.
`
<?php/* = Generate Custom Activity Stream
* Place this function anywhere you want to show your custom stream.
* Should accept any of these parameters:
* https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/
*/my_activity_stream(‘per_page=4&page=1&action=new_forum_post,new_blog_comment,new_blog_post,new_forum_topic’);
/* = Custom Activity Stream
* Place this function in bp-custom.php (in your plugins directory)
*/
function my_activity_stream($args ) {if ( bp_has_activities($args) ) : ?>
<li class="” id=”activity-“>
<a href="”><?php endif;
wp_reset_query();
}

ParticipantDoes Constant Contact claim to be BuddyPress compatible / integrate with BuddyPress registration?
It’s not something I’ve seen them advertise — are you integrating it using a plugin that claims to support it? If so, you would be best as Hugo advises, to ask on the plugin forum.

ParticipantPaul,
I’m having the same issue as Abbie, but the UsernameCompatibility didn’t help me. Forums and Groups rewrite correctly, Activity and Members do not. Activity will go to Home, Members will write to Members, but then when I click on a Member, it rewrites to Home.
