In reply to: Need a link to each users profile page

ParticipantWe answered this question just a few days ago: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/link-to-profile-messages-friends-and-settings/
This forum desperately needs a working search capability, as well better structure for the forums themselves, ..

ParticipantOK, better question, anybody successsfully deactivate their BBpress forums and successfully activate the buddypress sitewide for forums? I am using worpress 3.4 + Buddypress 1.5.2 and here is an example of my site from the bbpress install:

ParticipantI solved this by editing the database information in the bb-config.php which is located in your WordPress root folder. The web host had used a script to edit the database information automatically in wp-config.php but the old database details remained in bb-config.php. Now all of my old forum posts are visible again.

MemberHello Mercime,
Thanks for your input. As I stressed, I was trying to give constructive criticism. I meant no harm!
I work with DVD/BD authoring, and FCP editing – this is where I can help out others (and I do. Also very generously. And I do know all about the way forums work
). In this area I’m relying on others, and as our support guy was out of reach, I had a very critical breakdown situation on my hands yesterday.It didn’t make sense to me, that Roger spent time writing that I shouldn’t make identical threads, without at least – in the same post? – writing a line in response to me having followed his original advice. Anyone could probably tell that this double thread was a desperate action on my behalf, for which I apologized promptly.
I’ve been very careful trying to describe what I have on my hands here – If you read my first post, you’ll see that I can’t access the admin panel (so I CAN’T change to default theme!). And if you read the posts after Rogers input, you’ll see that deleting the buddypress plugin didnt help – in other words I still cant access my admin panel. And the entire wordpress site is down.
I respect everyones time! I value (very highly!) what I get from any forum! And I give knowledge back (in my field of expertise)! In this case it seems that because I offended someone, I was excluded. Everyone makes mistakes. I was corrected. And I stated my opinion about forum behaviour.
I’m in over my head. And getting more frustrated by this forum. I thank you for your time – I do appreciate your help. But I’m gonna have to wait for my support guy to return. Thanks.

Keymaster@johnjamesjacoby Have you seen this issue with bbPress 2.1 before?

Participant@michaeljdornan WPMS is the “new” WPMU

Whose BP MultiNetwork plugin are you using? wpmuguru’s or sbrajesh’s? I forgot whose plugin is BuddyPress-MN or BP-MN.
If wpmuguru’s, then you should get http://wpebooks.com/replicator/ – ask in their forums
If sbrajesh’s, then you should post at his forums to get recommendationJuly 14, 2012 at 4:08 pm #137304In reply to: HEEELP! I activated BuddyPress and my site CRASHED!
@mercime
Participant@chrfriis Know that all of us helping out in the forums are unpaid volunteers living in different time zones and under no obligation to follow up with or respond to a question. In other words, we have lives outside of BuddyPress and WordPress. Roger has always been generous with his time in helping out in these forums. And if the suggestions given you didn’t work, then you should take the initiative to find out other solutions yourself.
Change to default theme, then when you can access wp-admin, change back to your customized theme. Roger mentioned this above but you haven’t posted whether you’ve done it or not.

ParticipantHmm, I’m a wee bit confused.
I had a bbPress 2.0 installation which had been used for some time when we added BuddyPress. I’m now using bbPress 2.1 and BuddyPress 1.6 beta. I can create a forum form the Group admin tool and you can find the forum within the index and activity within it is listed under each users activity.
But, in the group section, it says there’s no forum, and no activity is listed. But is this an issue with bbpress rather than bp?
Edit: if I create a new group and add a forum to it in the process, it works. It’s only already existing groups where it doesn’t work.

@mercime
ParticipantI see your post here in your activity stream https://buddypress.org/community/members/synaptic/
If that’s not good enough for you, use Google. The site is indexed pretty well.

@mercime
ParticipantPost authors are stored in wp_posts table. See https://codex.wordpress.org/Database_Description#Table_Overview
For support regarding this matter, please post at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshootingJuly 13, 2012 at 8:23 pm #137286In reply to: How to see your OWN forum topics

Participantnope, doesn’t work, it says “Sorry, there was no activity found….” just as @magicroudnabout ‘s screencap shows above

Participantfrank, it only displays 5 of 22 because of this (wrote earlier)
Second, only the posts and replies that you made after making the “Name (required)” change are shown, anything you may have written previous to the change will not be shown
July 13, 2012 at 7:54 pm #137282frank tredici
MemberWell, @mercime — it is getting closer but:
(1) it only displays 5 of my 22 posts with no mechanism to get to the other 17
(2) it simply shows me my post topic. It does not show if any replied or what their reply is.So my workaround still is better at this time.

Participant@frank13 since you’ve already changed your name field, you just go to your profile’s activity page and see your forum posts https://buddypress.org/community/members/frank13/

MemberHere’s my workaround:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/?p=1&n=1000
Then use your browser search feature (Ctrl + F) to search for your name. Primitive but gets me to the place where I want to be…

July 13, 2012 at 5:18 pm #137268@mercime
Participant@mahdiar Based on the HTML structure of your theme, you will be only need to create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to make the BP templates compatible with your theme.
If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your complete theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your theme folder in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /members, /groups, /register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.

MemberSame here. I have to spend 45 minutes to find the thread I started to see if someone replied to it. Imagine 50 threads…
Really ? No notifications, no activity, no search ?
Sorry, but this is everything but a forum and it must be fixed like yesterday, its pretty annoying.
