ParticipantI tried doing the same thing. I used the plugin called posthaste but it didn’t have the add media features. That’s exactly what I’m trying to accomplish with groupblog. I want the ability to interact a little more with the group functionality than just forums and the streams.

KeymasterI recognize you from the bbPress forums, so I know you know your way around WP/bb!
It shouldn’t take long for you to get up to speed with BP.

4) Re: modifying menu bar – you don’t need to hack the core file.
Read this:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/modifying-the-buddypress-admin-bar/
You can put custom code in /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php to override settings and variables.
7) Blacklisting usernames in WPMU – login to the WPMU backend, navigate to “Site Admin > Options”, look for the “Banned Names” field.
—
There are also some good how-to guides as well:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/
Also read up on the global $bp variable:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/the-bp-global/
Hope that brings you up to speed!

Keymaster1) Moderation suite – look into the various filters – bp-activity-filters.php, bp-forums-filters.php
4) Alter main menu of site – look into bp-core/bp-core-adminbar.php
5) User can select password – already exists
6) Multple unique identifiers – would be a cool plugin. are you thinking of custom profile urls?
7) Reserve usernames – in WPMU you can blacklist usernames from registration, not sure if such a feature exists in single WP.

ParticipantI am sorry.
I am running WP MU 2.9.1 with BuddyPress 1.2
I have installed it as sub-folder on a sub-domain.
I installed the 1.2rc3 and then upgraded when 1.2 was out.
my bbPress was installed as fresh copy from within BuddyPress.
Didn’t notice the issue earlier so can’t say much.
I tried overwriting the file once again but didn’t work. How come deleting the whole folder and then uploading it again will do the job instead of overwriting everything?

Keymaster1.2 RC3 had this problem. It should be fixed in 1.2 final.
Delete the entire /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/ folder
Redownload 1.2 final and upload the same folder.

ParticipantDouble-check your theme’s functions file at /wp-content/themes/wp-clear-basic/functions.php to make sure you added
include( TEMPLATEPATH . '/bp/bp-functions.php' );right at the top after the opening php tag.If it’s there, try disabling other plugins one-by-one to see if they might be interfering. The Coming Soon plugin in particular.
And if disabling plugins doesn’t work, try providing some more information because it will make it easier for others to help. https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/when-asking-for-support

ParticipantThe following files are listed:
activity
blogs
bp
forums
groups
members
registration
Within the bp folder there is a file called bp-functions.php. Do I need to move it back a level?

KeymasterNot really because this isn’t provided out the box and won’t be quick or easy to do. I doubt you are going to get any “code snippets” unless someone needs this for their site and is feeling generous.

KeymasterYeah, make a function, put it in functions.php like you’ve said. Then in your child theme’s sidebar.php file, change line 64 from something like this:
<div id=”tag-text”><?php bp_forums_tag_heat_map(); ?></div>
to
<div id=”tag-text”><?php my_new_function(); ?></div>

ParticipantThere’s wp-answers https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-answers/ too, for rating comments on wordpress posts. It’s a rough plugin that lurches into Spanish now and again, and doesn’t work on buddypress forums. However, it might offer a few more clues on how to get there.
The other thing to do would be to look for a buddypress plugin https://buddypress.org/extend/plugins/ for forums that added some metadata to forum posts.
Please do report back if you make any progress – I’ll be interested to hear how it goes.
And if I make progress with my mailman <-> forum plugin, I’ll let you know how I went about adding metadata to, and manipulating, forum posts

ParticipantI assume that people told you this before when you reported, but just in case: this is a WordPress issue rather than a Buddypress issue, I’m pretty sure.
Reporting the bug here won’t help much — if nobody has an answer on the forum here, you’d be better off seeking some help through the WP/WPMU support system.
