    For some reason the “Admin” link still appears when adding a thread to a forum? Why would that be any different? Does it not use the bp_core_get_userlink filter?

    I would like to give suggestions, if buddypress team should be given backend options like select content type (1)HTML email (2)Plain text
    because buddypress have not given any hook for changes content type text

    You can create an enhancement ticket here using the same login as you use for these forums.

    Thanks @shanebp. Yes, I contacted LearnDash over night and they suggested we look BuddyPress.

    They said:
    “I would look into BuddyPress. This has private groups and you can associate courses with different groups as well as allow each group have a private forum. You can find our add-on for BuddyPress here:
    http://support.learndash.com/buddypress/”

    I had a question about associating courses with different groups. I could only associate a course with 1 group. Is it possible to associate a course with multiple groups?

    We would have the course Creative Writing
    And multiple groups that we’d like to associate with it. Is that possible?

    What does the association actually do? Do we need to associate the group with a course?

    Thanks for your help!

    requests for help in these forums don’t seem to get much attention to me

    Everyone here is a volunteer. Nobody is obligated to answer your questions – especially ones steeped in entitlement.

    If you want more attention and faster attention – hire a developer.

    Or at least use gist to share the code you’ve written in attempting to find a solution.

    For your task, I would use the Group Extension API.

    Further testing:
    – I’ve changed to TwentyFifteen theme
    – deactivated all plugins except for BuddyPress and bbPress

    I still can’t see topics that the user should be able to see. And they can access a private forum they aren’t a member of.

    Where do I even begin to figure out what is going wrong with this site?

    I just ran 2 forum repairs:
    – Recalculate private and hidden forums
    – Repair BuddyPress Group Forum relationships

    and now I have a different problem. I’ve actually been experiencing this problem on and off now for about 2 weeks and I’m starting to pull my hair out!

    So now if I go to the forum list (at the category level) I can see that there are topics in the child forums. But when I click through to the child forum it tells me “Oh bother! No topics were found here!” This is for a group that the user is a member of. There are definitely topics in that forum.

    If I change the user from a Participant to a Moderator they can see the topics.

    If I change them back to a Participant and then toggle the forum from private to public to private they can see the topics again. I have done this toggling of forum visibility several times over the past week and it only lasts for a day or two, then I’m back at this problem.

    I agree that there should be some indication or disabling when the button is clicked.

    You can open an enhancement ticket here – use the same user & pw you use for these forums.

    There is a plugin that will disable the button when sending public and private messages.

    You can get it here:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-profile-message-ux/

    Or here:

    Hi,

    In my install the link is ‘forums’.

    https://love.golf/forums

    Id be inclined to believe id made a spelling mistake, but its spelt the same in both functions and one is working, the other is not.

    my bp-custom.php file

    define('BP_GROUPS_DEFAULT_EXTENSION' ,'forums');

    define('BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT' , 'forums');

    the first one is commented out currently, but if I uncomment it I get a 404. If I comment it out again and refresh the page, it will work.

    Its when i try to go to the group forums i get the problem. As stated the default profile view works fine.

    As a point, I have tried changing ‘forums’ to ‘forum’ and this had no effect.

    Good idea – you can open an enhancement ticket here using the same user-name & pw you use for these forums.

    On my install, ‘forums’ is singular – ie, ‘forum’.

    This is what i was beginning to think.

    I understand adding them in categories and forums. Its selecting the Category for the group i need to do. Oh well, hopefully this will be possible in later versions of BuddyPress.

    Thanks,

    Phil

    wanting to select ‘forum category’ for the groups themselves…

    Above is not possible…. Group forums nest under BP group forum only…I meant the forum defined in the setting in forums

    Make main forum category..you can nest sub categories under it and sub categories can have forums

    Forums 1, 2 and 3 are all forums. I have them as children of ‘forum category’. Im wanting to select ‘forum category’ for the groups themselves.

    The only reason i have for this really is there are a few groups already with their own forums and eventually there will be a lot more. Im trying to keep the forums tidy before they get too large.

    Thanks!

    Hi sorry about that.

    Im using them as you have them set out in your example there.

    BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT works when set to ‘forums’

    Its the BP_GROUPS_DEFAULT_EXTENSION that doesnt seem to work. And that is also set as ‘Forums’

    hope that helps

    You don’t say how you’re using them.

    My usage is:

    define ( 'BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT', 'profile' );
    define ( 'BP_GROUPS_DEFAULT_EXTENSION', 'forum' );

    to change the default view in the user’s profile to ‘profile’ and the group to ‘forum’.

    Or something such as remove_action( 'bp_core_add_admin_notice( $notice );' ); maybe would work?
    I’m not really familiar with php but I am reading other forums and posts about similar topics.

    Hey Buddypress users. I have current version of WordPress and Buddypress (4/22/2016).

    I am trying to completely remove the need for Buddypress registration. Reason being, I have a theme that has its own registration process. With Buddypress registration, that makes it two completely different registration processes.

    I want to remove the need to have a Buddypress registration process completely. I have searched throughout your entire forum and I have tried everything. Nothing works. I continue to get the message “Missing buddpress register page. Repair.”
