InactiveI am having much the same issue as @notme31 and I am using bbpress 1.0-RC3. It looks like the RC release may be the issue. What is the “known good” beta release that I should use?

Inactivei agree, i mean bp forum is alright, but it seems that just bp suite works fine.
Its a very unique idea, because anyone can register “or email invite only”, and register for a blog, its basically giving somebody a website, which i think will be very useful in the future, for those running bp websites.
A ranks system can be done with phpbb, bp should have achievements like red vs blue, cuz it makes user more aware, and feel more welcomed in the community. Rather than “oh i just signed up on this site” , users should at least be able to earn something…

ParticipantI was looking for something similar to rank on forums based on post count, but achievements would be even better on BP, since there are different types of actions possible.

ParticipantI’m not aware of anyone who has been successful using bbpress rc* for group forums. I gave it a shot and couldn’t seem to figure out the problem in the time I had available. bbpress 1.0 alpha 6 works.

ParticipantIs it in trac? Discussing it here is great. Everybody knows it’s an issue and perhaps someone will track down the bug and submit a ticket with a patch. It doesn’t get remembered if it’s not in trac.

Jeff Sayre
ParticipantAs far as I know, there is not a widget that does that. It’s a good idea though!
You could create your own custom widget using the Featured Groups widget as a template. You would need to add CSS to create a grid pattern that positions the avatars the way you want. Here’s a post in which I describe how to make a very rudimentary grid structure using CSS.
If you do end up making this widget, consider sharing it with the community!

ParticipantHello, I need help, I have installed wordpress mu 2.7.1, buddypress.1.0.1 and bbpress-1.0-rc-3.
I have the “Attention Site Admin: Group forums require the correct setup and configuration of a bbPress installation” stupid famous msg. I have added all the plugins, edited config files of bbpress and wordpress to match auth keys (as explained), etc. added a new user in buddypress, change to “admin” state in bbpress, etc
I dont know what more to try, I read all posts, added small pieces of code to config files, deleted cookies, etc
I am lost, I spent 8 hours trying things and nothing. Same msg. I have one database for wordpress mu and other for bbpress…
Any idea of something I could test? or maybe something fails in my server?
I have done the XML-RPC test that Burt created and server said: “Hello from bbPress!” so it works… I am so tired

KeymasterThere are several threads already about this. The answer is, is that it is a known issue and last I knew Andy Peatling had plans to fix this.

ParticipantHi, this is my WP/BB/BP integration: http://ryuuko.cl
it’s currently beta, but open. Only the blog registration is disabled because I haven’t uploaded themes :p I use a custom BP/BB theme that uses the markup of the WP theme (Thesis in this case).
We’ve been a small forum based community for almost 10 years. The next step is something more social, so BuddyPress was just what we needed.

ParticipantJust realised the testbp.org site also has this bug – html tags are displayed in the forum excerpts of the side-wide activity widget.
If its tough to fix, is there a way to stop the forum activity from showing in the site-wide activity widget?

Inactiveyah ive seen this thing on redvsblues website, and nowere else
I mean it would be cool to have for members, because you could make “mature” to “imature” achievments like. The Cookie eater, the Forum Junkie, and Simple minded achievments, the list goes on, etc etc.
but i cant figure out how to add another section below the bp addfriends area on a person profile page.

ParticipantYes, I’ve got this problem as well.
Forum posts in Side wide activity include the [p] [/p] code like Will says.
Does anyone have a clue where the problem lies?
Everything else works fine, including all other side wide activities.
I’m using WPMU 2.7.1 BP 1.0.1 and BBPress 1.0-alpha-6

ParticipantThanks Jeff Sayre. Went with your solution of course. Less intrusive – my custom code hack already created this problem.
I assume for the group and blog pictures it will be something similar…?

Participant@Mattlay-
As he has not been active on these forums for over a month, I doubt you’ll get a reply from Terryjsmith.
But, to answer this question:
I am curious if anyone knows if bbpress and BP are working to do this somehow by default. I am sure they are working on a lot of things but like I said this seems rather important from a users perspective.
You should view theBuddyPress roadmap. You can see that for BP v1.1, better integration support is one of the goals.

ParticipantDo you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated. If so, you need to distill your environment down to the lowest common denominator: Use the default BP themes that come with v1.0.1 and deactivate all other plugins.
What happens then? If you do not have any more issues, then you know it has something to do with your custom theme, one of the plugins, or some combination.
You then start going back up the ladder one step at a time. Switch the default BP themes for your custom themes. Does the problem return? It not, then is has to do with your plugins. Activate one plugin at a time until the issue returns.
Here’s a thread where Paul talks about a similar error message and plugins: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2802#post-15313
Let us know how your testing goes.

Participantthat someone was me – https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2893 what I had noted is that sam’s plugins is essentially the same as bp-forums-bbpress-live.php and the only answer (at this point) is to manually construct the bp_forums_get_forum() as you’ve suggested. the problem I was incurring previously was avoiding having to use the forum ID as an argument – when set to null it returns the most recent topics. https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/375

KeymasterHello Baraber
It seems like you are quite new to CSS. I suggest you get a copy of Firefox (if you haven’t already) and also Firebug, then with Firebug, you can make changes to CSS in realtime and see if they work as you want.
p.s. try starting out with
background: #FFF9DF url('myimage'gif') no-repeat fixed bottom leftI’ve just out of bed so am still half-asleep, but it’s something like that.
p.p.s couldn’t see your image, as it required log-in to that forum.
