ParticipantHmm. Ya, you might be right. xmlrpc may have an inherent limit on the size of the returned data in xml. Wow. That *might* have been the problem you were running into also. I don’t think it’s a memory limit thing for the server. It might be related to the IXR server that does the grunt work.
Good call John.

KeymasterBurt: Something to note too… This could be the same way the bbGroups plugin works and the way it pulls all user data? Similar issue we ran into before? Mayhaps?
My guess is that the xmlrpc memory limit is set on the server and probably needs to be overridden in .htaccess. If I was going to guess, which I’m not…

ParticipantHmm. I see what you are saying though. Perhaps it does have something to do with the xmlrpc comm stuff. The underlying bbpress_live code gets a topic and all the replies in one gulp. Doesn\\\’t matter if there is 1 reply or 100. It gets them all.
Put\\\’s me on the right track. OK. Off to investigate.
Well, maybe I remember incorrectly. There does seem to be pagination code in there.
There’s pagination code in there but bbpress ignores the pagination parameters. We get the topic and all replies. That’s what I remember. It’s coming back to me now. Still looking.

ParticipantHow long winded do I have to be before it fails? Gonna go look at the issue but need some idea of text len that kills it.
As usual it’s confusing as to *where* you are posting the text. If you do this, ‘big chunk of text’ as reply repeatedly from the bp group forums side, *what* happens? The bp side is where the failure is?

ParticipantI’ve confirmed that this is an issue related to the size of the data being returned via the xml-rpc call. But I have no idea what to do with that information.
If you’re groups get a long winded topic going … you’ll see it too!

Participant@ Sparun: Thanks, I’ve seen that and the plugin is already activated in my admin but for the moment I don’t know how to make it working.
I’ve just updated bp dev plugins from the trunk, and now the group extra thing is working, but not the tinymce, I guess that you must to configure something somewhere!
If you have a link or something about integrating that, because he’s in the pack but not on the plugin page.Or just tell me where I must to look, thanks!

Participantlooks good but I don’t like that I have to register to download it!
We might want to think about making template and theme developers supply download links to post inside the forums!

I never remember to bookmark or subscribe by rss to topics to follow.

KeymasterI’ve applied a fix that should help a lot of people post properly in the forums, so if you have had problems before, log back in and it should work for you.

KeymasterThis is the built in caching functionality in bbPress live which is used for bp-forums. You can delete these and turn off caching if you don’t want them.

ParticipantOK. I had been looking into the LDAP issue and apparently it does work. In the LDAP plugin forum, I saw that Josswinn (Member here) was also looking into this and he was able to get it to work. Hopefully he will check out my posting once he gets my email.

ParticipantOK. I did a fresh install and only added Database Integration. Actually I did it both ways with cookies as well as with only database integration. On both I get this setup errors…
>>> WordPress “auth” cookie salt not set.
>>>>>> Could not fetch “auth” cookie salt from the WordPress options table.
>>>>>> You will need to manually define the “auth” cookie salt in your database.
>>> WordPress “logged in” cookie salt not set.
>>>>>> Could not fetch “logged in” cookie salt from the WordPress options table.
>>>>>> You will need to manually define the “logged in” cookie salt in your database.
The problem is that these are not defined in the database to my knowledge. I think the ldap plugin takes these out? Any suggestions on how I could integrate the forums with the LDAP WPMU Plugin??

ParticipantWell, thanks Andy. I guess it helps to actually read the post first. Remind me not to go into the forums before I’ve had a cup of coffee. I see the word ‘bar’ and read admin bar. Never mind Phil. Cancel all that. Do what Andy says.

Participantnp Phil. I’m building up a little database of these kind of things and stuffing them into my new dev group here: https://buddypress.org/groups/code-snippets-solution-library
Soon as Andy gets the group forums up and running.

Moderatorgot bbpress working but their is no option in bpress to use 4) Edit “settings” to enable xmlrpc and pingbacks (both) this just does not exits in bbpress
this part makes no sense either: groups page just lists all the buddypress groups. I do not understand why or where you would put this url.
6) Go into your main blog dashboard as the “site-admin” and go to the groups admin page. Put in the URL of your forum like http://yoursite.com/forums/ and make sure you have the ending slash on that one.
In the MU admin there is no groups forum link. I have the bp-forums folder in mu-plugins.
The read me file is lacking what and where to put files.
link to screenshot of bbpress settings page there is no options for xlmrpc

ParticipantThen it’s not executing your bp-custom.php file. You have to have the php script tags ” at the bottom of the file. First and last lines. No blank lines at the top before the first php tag.
The forums are stripping all lt and gt tags so here goes in phonetic php:
less-than-symbol question-mark php
question-mark greater-than-symbol

ParticipantAndy,
I know you’re working on this site, still — but two quick things I noticed right away.
1. The main navigation links are missing the trailing slash (Home, About, Blog, Forums, etc). When you click the links the pages are redirected to the URL with the final slash added.
2. The forum is missing some styles — the header and navigation especially.

ParticipantDo I only need to setup bbPress with database sharing? Or do I need to setup the cookies as well? I think I have both setup properly. It did work for a short period. Then when new users started signing up it broke.
