Would I like to know if it is possible to install BuddyPress with WordPress (not WP-MU, only the WP)? Is it still if it is possible to maintain synchronized with the bbPress forum?
Because I intend (WP + bbPress + BuddyPress):
– Users of the blog can see the list of registred users;
– If it is registred user it can see the other users profile
– Can send solicitation to be friend
– If it be accepted as friend, they can send private messages
– It is possible, in the profile, to show the posts list and favorite topics that the user added of the blog and forum
– And other details, as comments published in the blog, topics or posts published on the forum
Then, its community is a perfect functionality, what many users do look for in sites, and with BuddyPress I do think all this is possible, but don’t I know if it is possible to integrate with WP and the bbPress and to maintain synchronized, using the same registration? And is there complete documentation for me to do the integration?
Thanks.
Topic: How about add to favor?
So many great post/blogs that I want to put into my profile as my favor, will that be hard to code this plugin? Just add a little link at the end of the post and click on that, a favor will be add into your profile. And those links in my favor should be private.
I would like to hear some suggestions for this hosting package..
currently targeting 100 blogs only as this will be used for a private network..
WPMU+BP
so will this be enough?
20Gb storage, 400gb bandwidth, 256mb ram..?
for 100 blogs…?
EDIT: I will also install 3 wordpress.org…(just for small portals)
Hi, I’ve used WP a lot and new to buddypress scene. I am planning a new project which gives males and females privacy but ability to contribute to ideas. Specifically:
• Allows males and females log to be able to join and contribute to group blogs
• Personal profile pics could only be viewed by members of the same sex
• Private messages could only be sent to members of the same sex
I would have prob created two different installations on two subdomains but wouldn’t know how to make them overlap on the group blogs….i’m thinking best way is to adjust the SQL to check the gender field before displaying messaging options/personal blogs/profile pics…..but where would i look?
Topic: Live Chat for BuddyPress
I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I have a suggestion for the implementation of a live chat feature in BuddyPress. It would be similar to Facebook chat and the chat feature in the MailChimp forums.
I guess the feature would have to use AJAX. Members would be able to chat with other members either privately or in an open discussion with all site members right in their browser. The chat area could either exist as a charoom page, or be a window-like popup that appears on the bottom of the page.
This would be an awesome feature for BuddyPress.
When a user writes a private message to another user with a subject of something like “Just wondering how you’re doing” it turns into “Just wondering how you/re doing”.
I could live with that, however the more replies that go back and forth in this same conversation, the more “///’ add on. With 10-12 messages, the subject line eventually becomes “Just wondering how you///re doing”
How can I fix that?
Topic: new message notifications?
Topic: group forums
Setting up group forums is currently not straight forward and private permission settings for group forum posts aren’t working.
I am wondering if ppress is the right approach for setting up “interactive groups”. Would it not be easier creating a sort of comment feature for group posts?
Let me know your thoughts about group forums.
We have a thread on BugleNotes.com that is no longer showing via buddypress (http://buglenotes.com/groups/free-for-all/forum/topic/79) but can be seen if I go to the bbpress interface (http://buglenotes.com/forums/topic.php?id=79). From running a quick test on my private site, I’ve determined it’s a character count issue.
I’m not sure of the exact count, but I simply kept posting the same long text into a forum topic. Worked fine the first few replies then WHAM! the buddypress view failed.
My guess is that somewhere the xml-rpc is choking at a certain limit but I have no idea where. If someone out there is running buddypress with bbpress integrated, from the buddypress side, create a new forum (group) topic. Copy a long block of text from somewhere and create a reply. Keep repeating … can you replicate my error?
I’ve seen it on two totally separate sites so I think its a definite issue.
