Trying to create a profile fields of a user that will be visible to adim only.
so far I`ve tried to use the current_user_can wp function in the The Profile Data Loop, but it didn`t go so well.

Carmel.So on my site every time a user joins a group they have the option of listing some details about their personal connection to it. Right now I am having to manually create each of the three user fields so they will show up on profile->edit. I am using either mySQL or admin page to do this.
I can not for the life of me figure out where or how to use existing functions to automate the process.
any suggestions? ideas? or am I doomed to try and write something that will be mediocre at best.
ps this is my first attempt at development with buddypress.

Where is it you would like them to show up?
For example these are custom fields being called in the group header, same thing can be done with the members header
Can someone please help with how to show up the custom profile fields that we make for registration? I don’t understand to be honest, why they are called “profile fields” if they are not for showing up automatically on the profile, but I’d greatly appreciate if someone could tell me if it’s some sort of code I need to enter and where exactly I need to enter it to make them show up?
I’d like all of my base profile fields to show up as I’ll be running a private site.P.S. (off topic) Is it just me or is the buddypress.org site search facility just completely broke? It just always sends me to the blog….
Many thanks.With bp-multi-network membership is shared across networks, the members directory in each network will list all active members, yet each member has a separate profile within each network.
bp xprofile fields are network specific. If a member joins via one network that members registration xprofile fields are specific to just that network.
So say for example you had networks based on location, New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, etc etc
At the moment there appears to be no way of showing, in the members directory of each network, from which network each member originated. (other than on a particular network the particular members that originated in that particular network)
For example John Doe (from New York network) can be shown in the New York as originating from there, but his origins can’t be shown (with xprofile fields) say in the Los Angeles Members Directory unless he actually fills out the profile fields in the Los Angeles network.
As a way round this I have attempted the following and I need some help to complete it (if it is possible).
Inserted a field in the registration form using @johnjamesjacoby suggestion (though old) from http://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/how-to-add-custom-usermeta-to-registration/?topic_page=1&num=15
After registering a few users I then tried the following on different networks
where 80 (and other integers) was the userid of new members and “thenetwork” was the registration field added via @johnjamesjacoby ‘s code.`<?php $user_info = get_userdata(80);
echo $user_info->thenetwork;
?>`It returned the correct data for all userids.
BUT when I added the code below to the members-loop.php
`thenetwork; ?>`
it returned the members id for each member but NOT the data from $user_info->the network.
Can this be done ? If so how ? Is there a simpler way ?
I was successful in displaying member profile fields for each profile displayed in my member directory, using the following code and action. Now, i need to display the same profile fields when a member views a friend request notification. Currently, only the profile name of the requesting member and “Accept” and “Request” display. Is it as easy as adding an additional ‘add_action’ function calling the friend requesting member? If so, does anyone know the slug? Thanks.

I currently have an older, proprietary social network that’s been running for years, with about 10,000 members.
I can export from that site in any custom format needed.
Is there a format I can create which will import users with the following info intact?
– User name
– Email address
– Date joined (very important!)
– Friends
– Groups (I would also have to recreate the groups)
– Personal avatar
– Profile info (I would make sure the profile fields match)Thanks!

Is is possible to add an “Image” type of field in the Extended Profile Fields?

Topic: HTML in Profiles?
I need to have a way to add html/php to profile fields. I know this is not the best idea for security reasons, but client is insisting on it.
I can even do an iframe if needed, but of course the html is stripped out. It would be nice to have an HTML option in the drop down for the profile fields, but If I can add it to the text box then that will work too. The site is locked down to only memebers that are part of the company. So how would I make it where I can add html/php or an iframe to the profile fields?
