ParticipantHow does your wpmu (without BP) work ?
Try this first; because registration has nothing to do with BP…
December 9, 2009 at 11:35 pm #58383In reply to: bp-sn-parent: Cannot modify header warning
Mark
ParticipantI’ve determined that the warning is generated when /wp-signup.php is accessed (mostly by spam bots). Can’t find white spaces anywhere. Is /wp-signup.php supposed to redirect to /register or to a blank page?
My site and the other listed both display the Registration Form and the PHP Warning: Cannot Modify Headers:
http://ttacconnect.org/wp-signup.php
http://memomu.com/wp-signup.php
These sites result in an blank to semi-blank page:
http://startupweekend.org/wp-signup.php
http://nourishnetwork.com/wp-signup.php
http://morgansjourney.org/wp-signup.php
http://poetrypress.org/wp-signup.php
Should /wp-signup.php result in an blank page or the registration form? Will resulting blank page eliminate the ‘Cannot Modify Headers’ Warnings in error_log? What is the fix? Thanks!

ParticipantNone of these help. My subdomains are working fine for everything except registration. I’ve done a clean install.
My problem is with the registration page on the subdomain. My users should be able to register from the subdomain blogs. I’ve installed the buddypress default theme on the subdomain to see if it makes a difference. No change.
sub.domain.com works just fine.
sub.domain.com/register does not work.

ParticipantOkay I fixed it… backed everything out, put it back in bit by bit. I really don’t like that wp_signups table in MU that is not visible in the admin panel anywhere. Maybe a plugin will show up someday to manage that puppy.

ParticipantOkay looking more closely at that table… wp_signups… I was going to edit the active field from 0 to 1, but it says it cannot be edited because it lacks a primary key. Would that be a problem or is it not supposed to have a primary key?
Thanks.

ParticipantI’m actually very interested in doing this too. JJJ, if the request we sent to join the BP install had a parameter like &groupid=34 then couldn’t the registration process for BP be able to handle this variable and it automatically join someone to a specific group? I ask since hopefully that variable could also be used to modify the registration page according to the group that invited them to join the BP install.
Of course, it’s all possible if you hack the core, but can the registration process be modified like this using a plugin?
I appreciate any direction someone can offer on plugins that have done something similar or which areas to look to try and make this happen.

KeymasterAt the moment, no… Once registered, you’re registered, that’s it…
From the sounds of it, you would need two different MU installations to pull off what you want to do. Or, if you’re talking about “groups” within BP, there is group moderation where people request to join a group, and moderators and admins can accept or reject them.

KeymasterBug which I think has been fixed. They’ll need to ‘edit’ their profile after registrations and mysteriously things will appear…

November 24, 2009 at 10:42 am #57367In reply to: Comment authors are not linked to their profile
closed account
ParticipantFor future reference –
I tried setting a default value in a multiselect box for all new users.
The member comment link doesn’t redirect immediately to the member’s profile, but it did work when I clicked ‘Save Changes’ in edit profile > even though I didn’t manually edit any content as such.
So my theory (assuming no other fix), is to direct new members to their profiles after registration. Once they’ve saved changes then all should be ok.
I’d still be interested to know more about your solution above…. as well.

David Lewis
ParticipantI learned when trying to override the BuddyPress widget registrations that your theme will use BOTH function.php files… the parent and child. So you may need to unregister the original function and/or use a new function name… etc.

Anonymous User 96400
InactiveYou could do something like this instead of your normal registration function:
function activate_extension()
{
global $bp;
if( is_site_admin() )
{
$extension = new Your_Group_Extension_Class_Name;
add_action( "wp", array( &$extension, "_register" ), 2 );
}
}
add_action( 'plugins_loaded', 'activate_extension' ); -
