When a new user registers the password that they choose is different from what is sent after clicking on the activation link – how can I remove the password requirement when a user signs up or have the correct password shown in the activation email?
Hello all…. I am creating a small local community site for the residents of a remote are where we all have chalets. The purpose is to have all the people join by registration and then only the users that i confirm are allowed to join and then we can post amongst ourselves and post photos and or warnings and info about our chalets & locations. And also have emergency contact number for any problems that might occur.
I am using buddypress V 5.0.0
With mediapress and WP 5.2.4How can a member create a post that everyone can see and comment on? I figure it was a simple function of BP?
FYI site is https://sdlion.ca
Thanks..Topic: Registration on Multisite
Hello,
I have a multisite running and would like to add buddy press. I’ve installed the plugin and network activated it. However, I find that the registration page is only reachable from the main site.i.e.
http://www.example.com/registrationNot accessible on any subsites
http://www.example.com/site1/registrationHow can i make the registration page available to each of the subsites? They all run their own user groups and need to manage their own registrations.
Topic: Slow Registration Page
I’ve optimized my public pages for speed, and I’ve had great success with all the pages on my site (all at or close to 100 in Page Speed Insights.) The exception is my registration page.
I was using a plugin called “Bp xProfile Location” which was hurting the page speed significantly. After removing that plugin, I’m still only able to achieve 85 on the registration page.
I have a few JS snippets taking action on the page also, but removing them caused no change in the speed score.
Out of curiosity, I inspected https://login.wordpress.org/register with Page Speed Insights, and even that page is quite slow with an 88 score. (Their TTI is 3.6 seconds.)
So, knowing that even the official WordPress site has a slow registration page, I feel that Buddypress is probably not the problem, but I’m not sure.
Does anyone have a high speed score (higher than 88) on their registration page? Alternatively, is there a specific, uncontrollable reason that our reg pages are so slow, and should we not worry about it?
Hi everyone,
after clicking on the “Register” button, the form opens up and i see the predefined fields from “User –> Profile fields” as expected and additional account details fields, that i dont know, where they are coming from.
Looks like this: Screenshot
Where does these account details fields (left side) come from and how can I deactivate them?
Thanks alot in advance and have a nice day.
With kind regards,
yaesewTopic: Recover member counters
we emptied out some spam memberships from your database, and we need to know what happens next to update the count on the activity page.
The registration on my website is showing the wrong figures as 112904 members the link for that page is activity page. It should be correct and we have also use repair logs but the number is still visible. How to solve the counter or reset it.
Hi! I’m using the latest version of WP and BP, with a CologMag child theme and the Legacy BP templates.
When editing a members profile, I’d like all their profile fields to show up without having to click through separate tabs and reload new pages for the basic Primary field group and the Details section. I think our members aren’t noticing that they even have extra fields group to fill out… and we have so few fields that it doesn’t make sense to load them separately for editing purposes. (I just split them up to avoid cluttering the registration form.)
I’m guessing I’d have to modify the edit.php file, but I don’t know what changes to make to get the result I’m looking for. Any pointers would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
I have the latest wordpress installation with latest 2019 theme plus latest version of buddypress. I have set register on general settings, got buddypress pages created automatically upon registration. Did the page settings. Got only buddypress plugin activated but for some reason when I test register after logout, I cannot register people successful even though I imput the data needed to register. The page will not even redirect to activate. It stays the same with no registration happening after sign up.
I been reading other forum topics on registration. I tried changing themes, tried add www. on my URL, tried re-installation of wordpress and buddypress, removed all plugins except buddypress but for some reason I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong because I still cannot register new members/Users.
I been watching youtube videos on buddypress and I notice that on options the core buddypress files do not have a check box on the version I use. Even when I try to select everything on buddypress option so that all 10 are selected I still get cannot get registration of new members from register page.
Please help me I am a novice on buddypress.
I like to edit the text on my REGISTRATION page and add a Link zu the PRIVACY NOTICE page. How can I do this?
Thanks für helping.
Hi all. I’m working on a site that will have several types of memberships. We’re using MemberPress for this since there will be monthly/annual payment options for each type.
The profile types in BuddyPress is an important part of what we need – we’ll be hiding certain profile types from the user directory.
The problem is, there seems to be no built-in way to simply map each MemberPress membership to the BP profile type we want to assign it to. (and we are already using the memberpress/buddypress linking plugin. it doesn’t include this functionality and they’re considering this custom work rather than something that should be built in. You CAN map the membership to default forums you want the user signed up to automatically, but not the profile type. … scratching my head…)
Has anyone had experience doing this? If so, would you be willing to guide me a bit? Not sure if I should try to build a plugin or if there’s an existing snippet for this.
Thanks!
Topic: Not sent email activation
Hello, I am reading everything related to this topic and I see that it is a general problem that has not been solved correctly.
In my case, activation emails are not received after registration.
In support of WPLMS they have sent me to Buddypress saying that it is not their business.
I have checked with my hosting and the emails do not come out, they are not generated.
I have verified the sending via WP MAIL SMTP with server, port and specific user, but still not received.
Isn’t there a concrete solution? What can be done?
Thank you.Topic: Only Base is showing help

Hi everyone,
is it possible to disable the auto-generation of passwords on the signup form?
This features comes with the latest version of Buddypress and gives me headaches, given the configuration of my site. The context:
The home page is the signup page and there is a login form on the topbar. Both browsers, Firefox and Chrome, fill the signup form with the username of the login form. The problem is with firefox who sees my username together with the auto-generated password and thinks I want to update my credentials. So everytime I login, Firefox asks me if I want to update my password. It is very annoying and I must stop this.Is there any snippet to disable this feature?
Thanks in advance
Topic: Help with Extended Profiles
I have been struggling with this for a few hours, on the registration page it only shows the base profile fields,It is not showing extended profile fields. I have deactivated all other plug ins, changed the theme to twenty sixteen, still doesn’t work, please help me
Hello all,
As the title describes, how would I go about just having a new user click a link in the “new registration email” to activate their account, instead of having the user go to a page that requires them to go through the activation key process to then activate the account.
Is there a way to add the activation key to a GET request or something similar? Just seems like the activation key step causes a lot of confusion for people.
Best regards
Hi everyone, thanks in advance for your help.
I installed BuddyPress, first time and I’m a total newbie. I dont know why, but Both pages, registration and activation pages goes to homepage.
I have checked membership box, its settled, uninstalled deleted and installed buddypress again, deleted cache, and the only plugins activated are Updraft and super cache…
I saw a tutorial wich said I had to add a shortcode to .htaccess with my IP, haven’t done that yet, should I? And if it so, should it be on a .htaccess file on a child theme folder?
