ParticipantI should note, though, that the “Creat a Blog” function doesn’t work, it’s just a link to a page that says registrations are disabled.

ParticipantRight, that’s the only downside. I only disabled it temporarily, which is why I still installed the blog component but if you never intend on allowing blogs not having it installed is probably for the best.

ParticipantThe mod is pretty simple, but I need to look up what files I modified. I’ll post how I did it tomorrow, but it’s really easy and should take less than five minutes to do.

ParticipantI just deleted the subdomains that were created with the old system. Then I just put the following in my wp-config.php for WPMU:
define( 'NOBLOGREDIRECT', 'http://mydomain.com' );
That of course needs to be changed to your domain. What that does is take any random requests (in this case old reference requests) and sends them back to my main domain page. This also makes it so you don’t get the fancy signup page for random domains you are trying to register through the address and have to do it through your wp-signup.php page.
Since most registration works better for me through the main buddypress theme signup page, this change didn’t bother me at all. Plus it stopped all the requests giving errors or “signup pages” that came from the old URL’s.
Something to think about…

ParticipantI notice if you do install bp-blogs, the top nav bar then gives you the option to “create a blog”, so I went without installing it. Seems to be working fine.
Thx

MemberYeah this works, I’ve done it on a recent install of BP where I didn’t want the WordPress admin interface being used. When the ability to update your blog from the main frontend comes along, I’ll re-enable.

KeymasterYou can turn off blog registration as an option in WPMU. Then it’s as simple as not installing bp-blogs.

MemberHi apeatling !
I installed buddypress on a test server 2 days ago. How to upgrade ? I just have to upload the code plugin ?
And another question. I just give it a try on my install, and after creating the admin, i wanted to test with a normal account. The registration was ok, the only problem was that i had to create the homebase for this user to. The problem you mentioned on your post is this one ?
If not, is there a way to automaticaly make it ?
Thanks for your help !
And all my congratulations for such a project

ParticipantSub-Directory. By the way – the user-registration has the same problem…

KeymasterThe signup is going to be changed to honor the user signup or blog signup. So when user on registration is enabled, a user will signup and create a home base only. When blog signup is enabled, they will create a username, home base and their first blog all together in one step.

ParticipantNo problem, glad it was something easy to fix. Also, once your homebase is created you can change the registration back to users only and it should be fine if you only want users to get profiles and not blogs.

ParticipantIs full registration (users+blogs) enabled under Site Admin/Options? “Enabled. Blogs and user accounts can be created.” should be selected on that page. I believe this was the error I received when I tried to create a home base and full registration wasn’t enabled.
Also, is this a clean install of 2.6.2 and what version of the BuddyPress plugins are you using so we can help you out if the above issue isn’t the problem.
