Inactivevery cool! not a big fan of that huge blue header. i’d have made it a light color as well. it would have been kind of like the sandbox theme, just prettier. but since that’s the only bad thing i can say about it, i guess that means the new theme is an outstanding piece of work
well done!

KeymasterLove the new theme!
Can’t wait to play around with this.
I love the fact that activities drive everything, however less emphasis is placed on the profile (unlike before).
What I would like to do is put friends and groups so they are on the same page.
The “Blogs” tab shouldn’t show up if the user doesn’t have any blogs associated with their account.

Looks like the new activity permalinks are following the minimalistic layout of Twitter.
Cool!
Won’t be long before someone either makes a plugin or creates an xprofile field for users to change the background of it

Can’t wait!

ParticipantHey David,
I guess you agree that “usability” is much better than before ?
Just change the colors to the ones you prefer and you will be happy…..

ParticipantHate to say this… although I’m sure I will find little details that are much nicer… overall… I much prefer the original theme. The new one looks bland. But I guess it’s just a default theme. Maybe it’s better for it to look more generic.

That is a child theme and will require Thesis to work, that’s what I guess, as per Detective’s post.

Participantwhat i meant is what do you mean by “integrated with Thesis”… does the theme have seperate components to integrate/bridge with the tool, or is just a theme…

Participant@Boone Gorges, thanks for sharing that. I’m sure that could be helpful for many people. Personally I’m actually prefering to not have a group home page at all. Instead redirect the group home page to the blog home page which has the ability to pull in most if not all group related content. This way people can even set “themes” themselves for their groups.
@Erich73, I don’t see why it should not be compatible with 1.2. All versions after 1.1 are build on that code, at least until bp 2.0, asfaik.
I don’t currently have a website up and running to showcase, but would love to have one. I don’t have a domain available at the moment, and thusfar subdomains have not worked for me with Dreamhost. I now switched to HostGator, hopefully I will be able to do so with them. I’ll keep you posted as I have some other plugins I ported over as well.

Participant@ Seobrien: I’m working on more then 10 themes at the same time right now, trying to bring out my first on 20 Dec. Guess most people are still finding out how buddypress hangs together rather than already making themes.
@ dwpers: Very easily, just overwrite the files you want differently and paste that in bp-default. For example, if you want to change the header, copy header.php to bp-default (out of bp-sn-parent) and the new header.php (in your bp-default) will overwrite the bp-sn-parent file. Kubricks is btw a very nice theme, it’s just overused.

ParticipantCan you explain a bit more on the process of making a child theme? I too would love to have the member blogs have an integrated look and feel into the default buddypress theme – NOT the ugly WordPressMU blue theme :p.
Thanks

r-a-y
KeymasterIt depends how much you have altered.
However, if you’re creating your own child theme off of the bp-sn-parent theme, make sure you have a footer.php (or sidebar.php or whatever) in your child theme folder.
Your footer (and other files) will stay intact on upgrades.

ParticipantThere are more free buddypress themes at http://freebpthemes.com.
The list at https://buddypress.org/extend/themes/ should have more on it in the next couple weeks. Once updated that list will include https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/tags/buddypress.

Participantfrom which version of buddypress you are trying to upgrade ? if 1.0.x ,then you need to update your theme. btw nothing is overwritten(at least the themes) unless you do it manually.
