    Try SEO for BuddyPress:

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/seo-for-buddypress/

    Make sure you remove your <title> tag in your BuddyPress theme otherwise you’ll have double <title> tags.

    Not sure about the plugin’s compatibility with BP 1.1-RC1.

    Also just some friendly words of wisdom… try not to bump your post less than 24 hours after you have posted.

    yes, they are both there. “Buddypress themes in theme folder only and the bp default enabled and activated.”

    Make sure you have bp-sn-parent in the theme directory.

    wp-admin? Why do you need to access it from BuddyPress? BuddyPress is designed and developed, so users won’t have to go to standard wp backend to configure and use the site, unless they have their own blog.

    Anyway, all upgrade should be done manually (by FTP or SSH?). If you think your install is buggy, try reinstalling.

    btw, have you set correctly so that new theme architecture to work?

    This is the case with many of the premium themes. Woo themes, for instance, use a custom framework to bootstrap everything. Fairly straightforward to edit the calls in functions.php, to point to the correct paths; but that’d have to be done each time the theme is updated. Not sure how frequently that happens in practice, though.

    Detective’s way looks interesting, but it’s worth noting, perhaps, that it’s still a matter of hacking one thing or another–either the WP theme or the BP parent theme.

    Nice work, though, Detective. I’m eager to see some really creative applications of BP, that break out of the default. With any luck, I’ll be able to do so myself.

    I am having the same problem.

    First when I installed wordpessmu ( Yahoo server)

    I selected subdomain( the first option)

    http://www.yourblog.yoursite.com

    Everything installed, I was given temp password

    But was unable to login

    Re-created database, tested again. Same problem.

    The only way to fix this problem was to install with

    sub directory ( second option)

    http://www.yoursite.com/blog

    So using option two, I was able to login.

    Next I installed buddypress.

    But a the same thing thats going on with others, happens to me.

    members, groups, etc. all those pages are empty and I get page not found error.

    Whats up with that?

    Can someone help soon.

    This is a site for a paying client.

    no other plugins installed.

    no fancy themes.

    I have yet to get that far ( lol)

    site is http://yotroutreach.com

    I am familiar with buddy press, and have it installed on other domains, but they are on dreamhost, and not yahoo. :(

    I love dream host.

    Thanks in advance, Aisha

    p.s.

    I tried fresh installs, new databases, in addition to delete httacess, and wp-config , and re-doing everything.

    that does not work for me either :(

    I have my CSS working by adding it to custom.css but it is only working for Home and Blog… I thought v1.1 was going to allow me to use only one theme for home/member/forums.

    Here is where the location of CSS for thsee two areas:

    Home: /wp-content/themes/bp-default-SPSv10/style.css

    Member: /wp-content/bp-themes/bp-sn-parent/style.css

    What am I doing wrong?

    _UPDATE_

    What I did wrong was to not delete (or rename) the wp-content/bp-themes/ folder. Now using same custom CSS for both.

    My bad, I forgot to activate the Buddypress plugin.

    It would be nice if instead of generating a fatal error, there was some code in header.php on line 9 that would check for the existence of the function and print a nice error message like “Did you forget to activate the BuddyPress plugin?”

    Here is the proposed improvement code (this goes in the very top of themes/bp-sn-parent/header.php:

    <?php
    if ( !function_exists('bp_page_title') ) {
    die('Did you forget to activate the BuddyPress plugin?');
    }
    ?>

    looks like you got the buddypress skeleton theme enabled. Or you havent uploaded the child theme if youre using buddypress 1.1. Cuz that’s what it looks like to me, as im trying to study the new theme structure as well

    hey,seems you are using the skeleton member theme ,which is a bare bone theme.and I think,That’s why the page is looking so.

    Either you need to put your own css or activate b-member theme(not the sekelton)

    Hope,It should help.

    @socialpreneur

    Do you have the template file “plugin-template.php” in your current theme.

    try copying this from the bp-sn framework and your settings page should work.

    I need feedback/help from folks trying out new themes.

    I’m implementing buddypress into arthemina theme. I’ve so far managed to make all the buddypress pages work fine, except settings which it returns 404.

    For other buddypress pages, it was just a matter of copying, for example copy profile folder from bp-sn-parent to arthemina theme to make it work. But there’s no theme for settings, so I now have no idea how I’m going to solve this 404 thing.

    Please post your ideas/solution to this post.

    Upgraded to 1.1RC, but settings page still returns 404.

    I need to get feedback from other bp users who are using a standard wp theme to run buddypress.

    I have my buddypress installed correctly, but not using default bp theme, and settings page return 404. This sounds like buddypress doesn’t run on any other theme but default.

    I moved all the required files from bp-sn-parent to wp theme. Everything is working fine but settings (which is very much important…)

    My site under development.

    http://socialoop.com/members/socialpreneur/

    Maybe bp-core-settings.php is calling bp-sn-parent, which causes error? I’ve gotta check again..

    UBD Block Ad Plugin works just fine, if you want to put ads in your theme. Its a free plugin from unique blog designs

    Finally starting diving into 1.1 on my dev site and encountered a strange issue.

    wpmu 2.8.4a, bbPress 1.0

    just using plain default theme for now. forums work great. saved all my old posts. all seems ok BUT

    on back end no option panel for profile fields. on front end all profile data is gone but name and website. Under My Profile it just has Public (no edit profile or change avatar)

    Is this just a butchered install or something else?

    okay first.. I think some of us missed this…

    “6. Which version of BuddyPress (BP) are you running?

    version 1.0.3″

    I set permission on bp-theme 755 and everything under it. Nothing.

    I deleted the folder and uploaded bbmembers again. Nothing

    Uploaded a new member theme and activated it. Nothing

    I deleted buddypress and deactivated all plugins (welcome pack & achivements). Nothing.

    I uploaded everything back and nothing.

    All the settings are fine. it’s not pulling the css file.

    Great. It is a simultaneous hacking and learning process for buddypress themes.

    #53000

    @grosbouff, since that bit of AJAX exists in the theme, you’re welcome to modify it to fit what you need it to do. I’d recommend grabbing the RC now also since some of the AJAX has changed since beta.

    #52999

    @wordpressfan, yes go ahead and copy the files over from the parent theme into your child theme, and modify from there. Anything in your child theme will override the files from the parent.

    Simple just add to your functions.php in your main theme:

    add_action( 'wp_print_scripts', 'my_deregister_javascript', 100 );

    function my_deregister_javascript() {
    wp_deregister_script( 'jquery' );
    }

    No more jquery!
