    This is still not working for me?

    I have left the standard admin-bar.css in place.

    in bp-custom.php i have

    /* Admin Bar CSS */

    function my_admin_bar_css() {

    echo ‘<link href=”<?php bloginfo(‘template_url’); ?>/css/admin_bar.css” rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” media=”screen,projection” />’;

    }

    remove_action(‘wp_head’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar_css’, 1);

    add_action(‘wp_head’, ‘my_admin_bar_css’, 1);

    I have place my edited version of admin-bar.css into

    wp-content/bp-themes/mytheme_member/css/admin-bar.css

    this does not have any effect?

    All am doing is changing the menu colours.

    cheers

    Okay, still no luck! Can anyone help us get the buddybar added to the forums page? I am currently using the search/login bar, but really need the buddybar to be included.

    Based on the help posted, here’s what I’ve done:

    1. Added this code to the beginning of the bb-config.php file (I have WPMU installed at the root):

    require_once( $_SERVER[‘DOCUMENT_ROOT’] . ‘/wp-blog-header.php’ );

    2. Added this code to the bbPress footer (before the closing /html tag):

    <?php wp_footer() ?>

    3. Added this code to the bbPress header (before the /head tag):

    <?php wp_head() ?>

    4. Added this code to my bbPress header theme:

    <div id=”search-login-bar”>

    <?php bp_search_form() ?>

    <?php bp_login_bar() ?>

    <div class=”clear”></div>

    </div>

    The result: I am getting a white space above the bbPress header where the bar should be and the login bar is showing up in that space. But there is no CSS flowing (I changed the buddybar color) and I don’t see any of the buddybar menu items.

    Hope this helps those who are newly joining the conversation.

    My forums are posted at: http://the-suitespot.com/forums

    Thanks! :)

    Well, I’m using a theme that works for it. Yet, on Old School theme, my preferred theme, it doesn’t work as well.

    if you’d want members’ blogs to have that same look as the main news blog (if i’m understanding correctly), you’d have to create a third theme for your members’ blogs…. but you could def reuse lots of elements from the bp home theme to create it. so you have 3 themes: 1) bp home, 2) bp members, 3) bp members default blog — and you would probably have to rename that theme “default” since each members’ blog uses that theme upon setup. again, hopefully i understood your question correctly.

    bigfunblogs-

    Please try this:

    Choose your member theme once again by going to “BuddyPress > General Settings > Select theme to use for BuddyPress generated pages” in WPMU’s backend.

    With a default BP install you should only see two theme choices: BuddyPress Default Member Theme (1.0.1)–this is the one you want–and, Skeleton BuddyPress Member Theme (1.2).

    Choose the Default Member Theme and save your selection. Try visiting your site once again.

    Hi,

    yes everything is public in the current version of BuddyPress. In order to view these new fields all that you have to do is to fill them.

    I not sure if I misunderstand what your problem is, so I apologize if this is something you already know.

    So, after you finished adding new fields in admin section, go to your Buddypress profile page, hit Edit profile. On the first page you will see fields from the Base group. If you are using Buddypress default theme, look at the gray bar just under SocialNetwork title. On this bar you will see something like:

    [ME] [MY PROFILE] [Base] [and here should be your new groups]

    Just click on your group, enter some text in those fields and they will be shown on your profile page.

    Hempsworth-

    Well, that is good news!

    Sometimes FTPing WPMU can cause permission issues. That is why some recommend that you upload the WPMU zip package and unzip it on your server.

    The issue is that files are owned by the FTP user which is not an issue for most people as that user is the same as your domain server user–your hosting account admin user. If you authenticate when using FTP and it is the same username and password that you use when authenticating your hosting account, then it should not be an issue. If you’ve set up a separate FTP user, then that could be the issue. With WPMU unzipped, each file that gets FTPed will have the wrong user/group name.

    Anyway, If you feel that your issue is resolved, then please set the light to green on top.

    Okay so here is a perfect example…

    Notice how there blog looks there.

    http://wannanetwork.com/news/

    Thats the main website blog. Now how do you get other blogs on the website to look like that, you know with the side bar and all look of buddypress

    #47534

    I’m afraid I don’t totally understand the question, and I don’t want to throw guesses at you.

    Can you clarify?

    Yes Jeff, the home themes were showing up in the BuddyPress > General Settings dropdown.

    However, I’m not sure how good I’m going to be in the ensuing conversation as I’ve just done a fresh install of WPMU 2.7.1 and BP 1.0.1 and everything is working fine. Nothing on the server side has changed, and all permissions are the same as before. I’m putting this down to a mishap in the FTP upload last night.

    @honewatson Have you tried doing the same? Installing WPMU 2.7.1 and BP 1.0.1 from fresh? It may sort your problem as well.

    @Hempsworth

    Did you see my question here In this post?

    Are you saying that instead of those two themes showing up in the "BuddyPress > General Settings" menu area that you have the home themes you've listed above?

    Since there is now an assumption that you are having the same issue as honewatson has described, we need an answer. Until then, we should not assume that the two issues are related.

    @honewatson

    As Burt has requested, we would like to see if there are any commonalities between your issue and Hempsworth’s issue. Web server (Apache, Lighty, Nginx), version of PHP, and WPMU install method (subdirectory or subdomain) would help us narrow this down a bit.

    @Windhamdavid

    Actually Hempsworth must have mod_rewrite installed and loaded as his Lighty config file is properly rewriting his WPMU URLs. WPMU is functioning for him and since doing a clean reinstall of BuddyPress, he was able to activate it.

    But now he has a different issue–a strange missing-theme files issue.

    @jacoby – I experienced similar cookie issues with brain broken and the trunk – got it working by deleting cookiepath and hash and deleting existing cookies- https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/cookie-integration-problem-wp28-bb-10-rc-2 but since this is about lighttpd I’m sure that hempworth’s problem is the lack of mod_rewrite and this may help – https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic/1961

    #47510

    Usually the current stable is probably best? I tried for a few hours to integrate bbPress 1.0 trunk last night and something appeared broken in it (could be my brain that’s broken too.)

    The issues you describe are pretty strange, and new ones compared to most. When re-installing, do me a favor and delete your cookies for your site also; lets make this as clean of an installation as possible.

    FYI my PHP version is 5.2.6-1, it’s a fresh VPS so I’m installing the latest stable of everything.

    I might try backing my current config up and starting from scratch again… It might work, but if theres a solution I’d rather not do all of that again!

    Should I go from the current stable versions for each of the installs? WPMU 2.7.1, BP 1.0.1 and bbPress 1.0 RC2? I’ve always used trunk for each but I’ll do stable this time?

    #47506

    mikem1986, you will want to modify the header.php in your bbPress themes directory to get rid of the logo, and the header.php file in your wp-content/themes/bphome directory if you are using the included BuddyPress Home Theme.

    @honewatson, I’m glad that you have things up and running to that point. I was trying to determine if you and hempsworth have any configuration or host properties in common. What I was looking for is:

    Web server

    PHP version

    Subdirectory or subdomain for wpmu

    I’ve just reinstalled Mu 2.7.1 and Buddypress 1.01 again and this time I can select the bpmember theme from within Mu Admin under Buddypress settings. However, I cannot post from any buddypress field. Every buddypress post action seems to be undefined as wp_explain_nonce is being called.

    I can still perform any post action with WordPress Mu.
