ParticipantHi,
I noticed some warnings under the footer on each page!
Warning: Unknown: open(/tmp/sess_9863c075c922df980890284a6896b5fd, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in Unknown on line 0
Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct () in Unknown on line 0
Anyone know why these have appeared.
I will leave trying to upload new theme untill I get this fixed!
Regards
Mal

ParticipantWith trying buddypress & modifying still i agree that buddypress.org theme is really awesome and almost things work more easy, as people who might have seen for them the cool color and background mix match with blue topic font is what buddypress and if at all it is released people will be more interested to put with out modification.
Even i am looking for the same, although it might be told 2000 times or what ever no of times… Any way if any one can help me how & what to make changes to be like buddypress.org front page.

ParticipantSorry, not sure which thread to post this in now!
So buddypress.org is clearly running a version of the BuddyPress default theme (with blue instead of orange) that has also been ported to bbPress – is that right?
Would it be possible to release that as a bbPress theme?
Or has that perhaps (crossing fingers!) already been done somewhere?
Thanks for any input…

ParticipantFWIW, in this thread Bpfan posts a solution for the problem with BBP 0.9.0.4 where the admin is redirected to the main bbpress page on login (instead of the admin page).

ParticipantI have read that I should follow the “BuddyPress” option under “Site Admin” menu, in order to change the member theme.
That is outdated information. If you are using BuddyPress 1.0 and have the bpmember folder installed in /wp-content/bp-themes/, then what I described is correct.
Log in to WPMU’s backend as site admin, then go to “BuddyPress > General Settings > Select theme to use for BuddyPress generated pages”. After selecting a member theme, make sure you hit the “Save Settings” button.

KeymasterYou currently have the bpskeletontheme member theme enabled and active in your wp-content/themes directory.
Update: I just refreshed it now and it looks like you’re figuring it out slowly but surely. Let us know if you have more questions.

Participant@ Jeff Sayre :
Yes, but the thing is, I have read that I should follow the “BuddyPress” option under “Site Admin” menu, in order to change the member theme.
I am still unable to change the user theme.
How can I change the member theme ?

joelpittet
ParticipantIn your site-wide.css(side wide) or custom.css(home) in your wordpress themes theme.
custom.css (line 83)
#header {
background: none;
padding:0 25px 20px;
position: relative;
}
custom.css (line 87)
#header ul#nav {
float:right;
margin:-63px -5px 0 0;
}
custom.css (line 91)
#header ul#nav li {
float:left;
margin:-20px 0 0 18px;
}
Hope that helps, I had the same problem there is some style inconsistencies between the bphome and bpmembers styles.

ParticipantSuleiman-
The buddybar was displaying fine before I upgraded from my .9 build. Now with 1.0 rc2 I’m experiencing an unusual phenomenon
Currently, it is recommended that you stick with bbPress 1.0-alpha-6. See this thread.
This could be a bug with bbPress 1.0-RC-2. I suggest starting a thread on the bbPress forum for this issue if one is not already started.

Participantwhy it keeps annoying me to put widgets to my blog?
Yes, this is standard operating procedure based on the way the bphome theme is coded. If you decide to design your own custom home theme, look at the home.php file in the bphome theme folder. You’ll see how this is done.
the little alert box for it is going behind my text for the blog (I think this could have to do with the “menu bar full width” code, discussed in another thread).
That is probably the case. You’d have to look at the CSS. You could specify a z-index to correct the issue if it is too bothersome.

Participant“”you can select a theme for use on a blog and then turn it’s access off afterwards. It can still be used by the blog that has it selected but takes it out of the themes list for others.””
Hello Burt Adsit !
You understood my problem. Your advice works perfectly OK.
Thats a great tip.
Was it already somewhere – I could not see as far as I read and searched.
Allowedthemes field in Site Admin (super site admin) > Edit blog does not seem to work.
For example, how to enter multiple allowed themes for that blog, separated by commas? or each in a line?
Anyways, the problem is SOLVED.
THANKS a million, Burt Adsit!

ParticipantPierce2-
Yes, that is true. A bogus url should trigger the 404.php file in your theme directory.
I think jjj is correct in thinking that this has something to do with the subdirectory install.
From the link that you PMed me, it appears that for your production site, you will be doing a root-level, and not a subdirectory WPMU install. If that is the case, this issue will not be relevant and is just taking time away from your development. You should be prototyping using the same directory structure in your dev environment as in your production environment.

KeymasterHey, I’ve just written to and received an email from one of the guys – Noel – who’ve done the P2 theme and he seems willing to look at some additions to better support plugins and widgets that rely on what are otherwise standard filter actions.
The above works as an interim but hopefully at next weekend I can go over it all and check things properly, then feed back to Noel.

KeymasterOk, so this is with the current download-able version of P2 (not a trunk version):
functions.php – in function prologue_new_post():
//Find these two lines at the bottom of the function:
echo $post_id? $post_id : '0';
exit;
//Above them, put this:
if ( $post_id ) do_action( 'edit_post', $post_id, get_post( $post_ID ) );
functions.php – in function prologue_new_post_noajax():
//Find these two lines at the bottom of the function:
wp_redirect( get_bloginfo( 'url' ) . '/' );
exit;
//Above them, put this:
if ( $post_id ) do_action( 'edit_post', $post_id, get_post( $post_ID ) );

KeymasterIt’s actually quite easy to do this. I recommend getting comfortable with the functions that BP introduces to the templates, which can usually be found in buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-templatetags.php. There are some others, but those will be your friends.
Some of them are wrappers for WPMU functions, and others are BP specific. Each plugin also has a *templatetags.php file that includes more functions to component specific output.
Spend some time looking through the bphome and bpmember themes to get an idea of how those functions are used, and you’ll be on your way to making a custom theme in no time.

ParticipantJohn-
From what I can gather from Pierce2, your assessment is correct. He’s done a subdirectory install, just gets blank screens with bogus urls, and is running plain vanilla BP–no other plugins, using default themes.
Pierce2-
What is your site’s URL?
June 1, 2009 at 9:39 pm #46488In reply to: Blog Directory and Member + Groups
John James Jacoby
KeymasterYou’re missing the functions.php file from the home theme that came included inside bphome. There are functions included in that file that will assist your custom theme in routing to the necessary member/directory pages.
