Hum. I’m sorry to bother you again @mercime but it’s really weird : I had a major bug today (I don’t know why, I was updating my website and then, boom, white screen of death…). I had to re-install WP, BP, and everything else… Fortunately I backed it up yesterday so I didn’t lose anything.
Anyway, I re-uploaded every exact same file, but then, I’ve got a difference in BP : some square (ul / li) are now there…. I don’t get why. Also, the BP integration is but abnormal (a small part on the right side is being hidden now…).

The screenshot showing those little weird square thing… : http://tinypic.com/r/elbfvb/6
The pastebin of the member page shown above : http://pastebin.com/18rd2kq1

The weird thing is, they also appeared on my sidebar (for no apparent reason) : http://tinypic.com/r/2d26bmw/6

Do you have any idea of what is going on ?

    Thank you !

I am having the same problem and it started after upgrading to BP 1.6.1. I am using the theme BuddyCorporate and the latest full release of WP. It is set up as a multi-user site but all was working fine until the upgrade! Also, I am getting a blank page on selecting a group forum, although the site wide forums are working fine.

    – Pagelines theme with BP -> if I recall well, Pagelines has a premium plugin to make Pagelines theme compatible with BuddyPress

    – You can find examples of BP multisite installs at https://buddypress.org/showcase/

    – Create a Network – https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

    – Before Installing BuddyPress – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/
    – Installing BP – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/setting-up-a-new-installation/

@primetimejas need more info. What theme are you using? What plugins do you have installed? If you change to BP default theme and deactivate all plugins except BP, are the issues resolved?

@koki_xiong glad you have it resolved. I suggest that before you install plugins or themes, double-check to make sure that these are compatible with the latest WP/BP versions.

if you use a buddypress compatible theme, you need to edit

    mytheme/members/single/home.php
    and
    mytheme/members/single/profile.php

home.php is global template of member page , it include the profile part.

    – if you use the buddypress default, theme, you find it
    plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/

    Hi @mercime,

Thank you for the reply. I have to admit that I didn’t, I just dived in and started trying to match the file layout in my theme! I should have had a better look, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

The theme is wp clear and there is a link for it. The forum post is for a slightly older version, but I’m sure it can’t be that different so I will have a go at making those changes to get it working.

Thanks for your help, I will let you know how I get on.

    Cheers,
    Rob

Upgrade your WP install and always check the docs to see what versions work with what or require a specific version.

wp_get_theme() ( Since: 3.4.0 ) is a recent function and the BP version you are trying to run uses it thus is not a suitable version for older WP versions.

Rule of thumb always try and run the latest WP version so that your are current with security fixes more than anything but also to get new features/improvements but check first that BP is also updated and ok to run with latest WP first.

The default theme with BuddyPress doesn’t have a log in widget. If you’re not using a different theme and you’re referring to the sidebar area, that’s hardcoded into the template. In this case, some extra text with a register link will appear as long as user registrations are enabled on your site.

yes i have and they seem to say its not the theme or plugin when i know its the issues. This what i got from one of the main helpers
“The updates are posted with ajax, without reloading the page. So it appear doubled by javascript. When reload the page, the CSS is rendered again and the second post is hided” WHere would i go in the template to try to fix this?

@robreg what theme are you using? Did you check at bottom of the page you looked at where we have “template-packed” a number of WP themes https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes

If your WP theme is not listed there, open up your theme’s header.php file, copy all, paste in pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated URL here. Do the same for your theme’s page.php, index.php, sidebar.php and footer.php file. I need to see the whole picture.

@charlietech you have posted about this same issue in a previous post. If I recall well, the issue is either with Suffusion or the Suffusion BP template pack. Did you not contact the theme/plugin author about this issue?

@raphadko aas r-a-y mentioned above, it would require custom development.

Simplest way to add a notice is to create a function where you can add/revise the announcement/s and hook it into `do_action( ‘bp_before_group_forum_content’ );`
    OR
copy over https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.6.1/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/single/forum.php into your theme folder wp-content/themes/yourthemefolder/groups/single/forum.php and add/style announcement on line 2 or line 4 of that file. It will show up in all group forums but won’t show up in Forums Directory list of topics.

@modemlooper lol i do objective-c but no php, yet ;) i know how long it takes for objective-c and its long. I heard that php was easier. Apparently not LOL. I have a couple things I would like to ask you. 1. Can you make it so they can add friends because there is no button to do it from the friend area and i dont want them to be sent to another page, also create and join/search for a group, make it so all the activity streams have the option to be viewed all at once, and i removed the top bar at the top that send them to the home page and the link to view desktop version. How can i remove the margins that are left behind i cant find it. Again i am taking hits and misses here trying to figure it out. I know it will take you a while to do the above but i would greatly appreciate if you could do it and send it to me when u can, my boss isn’t very nice and i cant figure out how to work php, but i am in the middle of integrating your plugin with push notifications. If you can do this asap tht would be great feel free to send me a beta version to test out i would be more than happy to do so. Feel free to email @ brandongelfand@yahoo.com oh and btw it was the them i was using i switched to the standard buddypress theme and now the activity button is fine.

@cspinillo looks like you don’t have BuddyPress activated anymore.

As to your issue, read how to make your Chameleon theme compatible with BP https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/buddypress-compatibility-and-chameleon-theme-elegant-themes/

the error is printed when you try to post in a group or in your profil ?

the error is that $activity_id returend from ajax query is empty.

check your ajax.php and try to debug bp_dtheme_post_update() function.

Thanks Ben – I’m beginning to figure this out. I looked at the bbpress site and their forum “home” page” is pretty much what I am looking to do. It looks like formatting/layout within my theme (salutation) will be the main challenge. Thanks again for your input.

Buddypress is already mobile friendly as the default theme is responsive. It all depends on what you want – just a theme or extra functionality for mobile? You don’t need a mobile plugin for any WordPress or BuddyPress site to work on mobile. BuddyPress mobile is not just about working on mobile though that’s exploring mobile functionality too.

I deactivated all the plugin and activated them one by one. it was the suffusion bp pack that made them dupicate. I got this from one of there guys

When I look at your site, the javascript throw 2 errors: “XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://www.mysite.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php. Origin http://mysite.com is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.” It is like buddypress from your site tried to access something on another site (or like buddypress don’t see that your site is really yours). Maybe some redirections on your site break the things, or some settings on your server block the cross server javascripts. You can try to add in your .htaccess file the line:

So they’re saying that its not the theme or bp plugin, bp plugin did caused the duplicating post when i did the plugins one by one. I cant post text but with bp activity plus, i cant post images and links. Im so confused.

Could be a theme issue. Have you tried changing to bp-default theme and posting update?

When you deactivated suffusion, did you also deactivate suffusion/buddypress pack plugin?

Re “Duplicate Posts” while using bp-default theme — are you referring to Status Updates in activity stream? If so, deactivate any plugin you’ve added which posts media or other info in activity stream
