KeymasterMercime’s pretty much right. There might be ways to use a custom post type with user meta, but revising the structure of the profile fields database tables isn’t a current priority.

Participant@tomelk31 ok, I see that you’ve added the styles now and I see that the additions have fixed the layout for all BP pages.

Participant== why buddypress doesn’t use user_metadata and have a proprietary xprofile table. ==
I believe one reason would be that WP doesn’t have an API for BuddyPress’ more sophisticated profile fields/groups, or something of that nature. At least that’s what I recall a core dev answering the last time that question was asked

Participantok, I have revised the code above to right sidebar only. Delete old header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php and add code posted above.
Note that in the revised instruction, you do not create a blank sidebar-buddypress.php file but copy the sidebar.php file and Save As > sidebar-buddypress.php then follow instructions above.

MemberOK, I’ve just tested BP 1.6.1 on WP 3.4.2 (BP Default theme) in my dev site.
Yes, the same issue is still persistent!
Also, I found an interesting post and I wonder if AJAX change is related with this issue…
AJAX changes in BuddyPress 1.6September 8, 2012 at 2:22 am #141251In reply to: How can I customise the “createBlogForm”
@mercime
ParticipantThe Salutation theme has its own BP template files if I am not mistaken. If so, you will then have to make the change/s in theme’s salutation/blogs/create.php file. Back up the original create.php file just in case something goes awry.

MemberThanks for a quick reply!
Yes, my theme is actually BP-Default & my own child theme.
The child theme has custom CSS (only changed the color scheme but the same layout) and a couple minor custom templates for pages.
Anyone knows which template file is for the Groups Directory page??Thank you so much!!!

ParticipantThanks for the reply,
I am using a theme called “Salutation”
I have not created a child theme (Should I do this??) and I did not need to add the template pack as its already set up for BuddyPress.
Should I still copy this file over ??
Cheers
James

Marking this as resolved. As for bbPress not showing up, BP compatibility didn’t change the original page.php which bbPress theme compat uses. Please start a new topic in this forum or in bbPress.org if you need further assistance on this matter.

Participant@fitnessblogger if you have child theme of bp-default theme or are using the BP template pack plugin and moved BP template folders/files, then copy over this file https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.6.1/bp-themes/bp-default/blogs/create.php following the directory structure and make the change.

MemberHey Roger! Thank you for responding. So, the email link comes from Buddypress and it is supposed to link back to the conversation. For example, this is one http://shenow.org/activity/p/2332/
But, when it is clicked on, it takes you to: http://shenow.org/featured-women/member-directory/members-2/k8e0/activity/2332
So, somewhere behind the scenes it is getting redirected.
The theme is the clear line theme, and it has been working for over a year…..this seems to be a new issue that arose after I was trying to make new pages. I can’t figure out what happened… or how to put it back……or how to change the redirection.
I’d love your input …. Thank you!

Participant@jaymeselman Note: If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your backstreet theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete those 6 BP folders transferred to your theme folder in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /members, /groups, /register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.

Participant@tomelk31 It should rein in BP content to the left to lift up the sidebar. Where did you add the style to `#content .padder` and the styles I mentioned for you to copy from the Twenty Ten modifications? I’m looking at your blacklight/style.css file in server and the styles have not been added at all.
