@mercime
Participant@alanchrishughes To create a BuddyPress-compatible theme, either
1. Create a child theme of bp-default theme, OR
2. Create a WP theme which is BP-ready, OR
3. Download and install a WP theme, install/activate BP Template Pack plugin then go through Appearance > BP Compatibility process.April 6, 2012 at 5:27 pm #132556@mercime
Participant== there response was “get help from buddypress.” ==
what service, ouch.@sgodar I need more information. Open up Wikeasi theme’s header.php file, copy code, paste code in pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated pastebin.com URI here. Do the same for Wikeasi’s footer.php, sidebar.php, index.php and page.php

ParticipantI don’t think it is possible without the plugin. I’ve copied all the BP Template template folders over to my theme folder, but it doesn’t work unless I active the plugin.

Participant@indieconnect please clarify. Are you trying to make your WP theme compatible with BP via BP Template pack plugin? What theme are you using?

ParticipantWithout sight of the theme and it’s code most of would be guessing in the dark, unless we had specific experience of this particular theme.
This support forum is really geared to support for BP and it’s default theme, if this child theme has support that ought to be the first place to ask about customising it, if it doesn’t then you will need to provide a bit more info on the theme and / or a link to your site and someone may help you modify it.

ParticipantThis won’t help:
id=’Shoot Up-css’
ID’s are unique thus not only can you not have the same name repeated on a page you can’t have two tokens on the same ID.
That you have and the second being up-css suggests that you left a space in the directory name for your theme – close it up, no spaces allowed. Spaces in paths / file names are a truly evil thing and only Windows lets it happen, in Unix it aint allowed.

@ChrisClayton
Participant@emaarkhan you can (or; are supposed to be able to?) customize the registration page with a registration/register.php template in your theme. Is that not working?

MemberI am using the latest update on the theme. I’d think it must be a change in Buddypress after the recent update, since the theme was properly displaying the menu prior to the BP update. Is the prior version of BP still available for download? The quickest fix is probably for me to re-install that version.

KeymasterIs the user a member of the group where you are trying to create the topic?
What is the privacy level of the group in question?
What versions of WP/BP? What theme? What other plugins? Are you able to reproduce this error with all plugins but BP disabled, using the bp-default theme?

ParticipantThanks for the link. I followed the instructions, but when I clicked on the “Install Site Wide Forums” it said the forum was already installed. From some other posts it looks like the site wide forums is just an install using the bbPress plugin so I went ahead and installed and activated the plugin. I then created a Forums page and inserted the shortcode [bbp-forum-index].
To my disappointment this did not work, but then I switched themes and it was working. It looks like the BuddyPress Default 1.5.5 theme does not work with the bbPress plugin for site wide, but works quite well for group forums. Site wide forums work using bbPress (Twenty Ten) 1.2 theme.
Is there anything I can do to make the the BuddyPress Default 1.5.5 theme or any other theme that does not display bbPress site wide forums to work? I have tried 3 different BuddyPress themes and none of them display site wide forums. They just display the page name.
Thanks for the reply,

Not sure how extensive your modifications were. But if you did not make major HTML restructuring, check out how we made a simple Twenty Eleven child theme compatible with BuddyPress here https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-eleven-bp-1-5/April 5, 2012 at 6:21 am #132472In reply to: Full BP Avatar URL
