Participant@Mercime; you wrote: “Install and activate Frisco theme, that’s it…..”
Have done that but it also changes the whole site. My site has 2 parts: a business- and a network section. The business section uses it’s own theme now and the network section the default Buddypress theme. I would like to replace this default BP-theme with Frisco; the business theme remains unaffected.
Do I need to copy files from Frisco to BP-default? Which files need to be copied / transferred and to where?March 14, 2012 at 7:29 am #131342In reply to: A few, maybe obvious, issues I am having with BP
@mercime
ParticipantChange to bp-default theme and deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress. Either it’s the Huddle theme which might need updating and/or the s2Member plugin etc. that’s causing the issue, not BuddyPress. If so, please contact respective devs for theme and/or plugins.

Participant@indyowls I would need pastebin of some other files as well. But if you’re using the ifeatures free theme here https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ifeature then you won’t need to add any more pastes.

@mercime
Participant@videogamerznet Arras is no longer hosted at WP Theme Repo.
Which Arras theme version did you download from Google code home http://code.google.com/p/arras-theme/downloads/list ? You might want to install the a) Theme Check plugin and b) Log Deprecated Notices plugin to check if the Arras theme version you have has been updated for WordPress 3.3 at the very least before thinking of making it compatible with BuddyPress.March 14, 2012 at 6:28 am #131336In reply to: BP alignment: Colorway

March 14, 2012 at 6:17 am #131333In reply to: Theme background problems
@mercime
Participant@annie_whitt_wen If you delete class .custom-backgroun from body then your custom background image will be in all site pages including that of BP Pages.
So change
`body.custom-background {
background-image: url(“http://www.teachertime123.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/chlkbrd_bkgrnd4.jpg”);
//etc. etc.
}`
to
`body {
background-image: url(“http://www.teachertime123.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/chlkbrd_bkgrnd4.jpg”);
// etc. etc.
}`March 14, 2012 at 5:20 am #131331In reply to: Account delete

@mercime
ParticipantB. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
`
`
with the following (except for registration/register.php):
`
`with the following for registration/register.php:
`
jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});
`Save files.
C. Upload the 6 BP folders containing the 16 files you revised up to your server wp-content/themes/minimatica/
D. You might also want to check out the style modifications made in BP Twenty Ten for reference especially with removing the bullets and bringing in the extended width of the BP elements. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/

@mercime
Participant@pfelberg I know you wanted the second option. But based on the HTML structure of your theme, you’d need to use the first option, i.e., change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your Minimatica theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
``with
`<article id="post-” >` March 14, 2012 at 1:55 am #131324@mercime
ParticipantInstall and activate Frisco theme, that’s it.
Do not use BP Template Pack on Frisco theme because it’s already compatible with BuddyPress.
If you already used the BP Template Pack plugin on Frisco theme, then
1. deactivate the plugin and
2. delete Frisco theme (to delete the BP template folders transferred), then
3. download and re-install Frisco theme again.March 13, 2012 at 11:18 pm #131322In reply to: Check out my work-in-progress BuddyPress site

Participant@Ekine I’m using the built-in WordPress gallery for posts, along with this plugin for the lightbox overlays: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-jquery-lightbox/
@mnasir79 Yeah, I just threw the code for the Facebook Platform’s page on it until I get my own up, heh.
I’m still cleaning up some sections of the theme. When all that’s done, I’ll start focusing on publishing some content and trying to build up a community. I’m still not entirely happy with how some of it looks (notably the activity and member profile pages), so if anyone has any suggestions or criticisms, I’d love to hear their thoughts.

I really need help to replace my current Buddypress theme with the Frisco theme.
Upgraded my site from a non-buddypress wordpress site to a Buddypress site, and I now I want to replace the default BP theme with the Frisco theme.

MemberThanks for the reply! I am really trying to understand BP but and explaination of what each file does would be really helpful. For instance, what is the header.php file, why is it important, and what does it do? I ask this because I would like to use a different theme.
About the menus then, the activity page displays all activity across the site, where the member profile activity page just displays the activity for the member. Does that sound correct?

Participantok – if the members page (tab) was just a page, I know I could add a shortcode to it to present the members list plugin results, but the members page is not an editable page in wordpress, so I can’t.
Am I best to remove the members tab (by hacking out ??????) , then create a new page for members, ,where I can add the shortcode simply?

ParticipantAwesome. Thanks @yadigit !
This is exactly what I’m looking for! While it would be nice to add an @tag to the Wire, I’m not savy enough to know how to do that. So this should suffice.
Now to figure out how to rename Wire to “Member Comments”. I’ve seen in the readme.txt :
`Changing label for wire, either use language file or use the following code in bp-custom.php
define(“BP_WIRE_LABEL,”Your wire label”);`That doesn’t seem to work for me. Might be due to my RocketTheme theme. Tried changing the language file but that was a no-go as well.

When you go to the member’s profile page. (e.g http://www.site.com/members/USERNAME)
That is the person’s profile..
it has a tab of their profile activity, (blog, profile info, groups, ect..) it only shows what that user has posted or replyed in.. Nothing more, nothing less.If you decided to use a different theme instead of the bp-default theme you might run into some problems with the header.php.. ( some themes will already add in a link for activity, groups, ect ect..) but if you are using the bp-default then you shouldn’t run into these problems.
My suggestion, add a few users on your site. Post activitys, make groups and put some content on your site.. Learn how buddypress works and what you can and can’t do with it. Click things and see what they do.
Best of luck with BP.March 13, 2012 at 8:51 am #131294March 13, 2012 at 8:46 am #131291yadigit

March 13, 2012 at 7:33 am #131288not1_name
Membershanebp. Thanks very much for that. Now I know that it CAN be done, I will have a go with aurimga up again. Their app had the most seemless connection.
modemlooper, aurigma up does upload to your own server, but I don’t know if it goes to theirs as well. I think a native BP app would be very useful! I would love to try it. I assume you haven’t submitted it to the store yet? The app would really need to be free on the store for users of the social network to use, but you could charge a license fee for the webmasters of the sites. The app doesn’t need to be branded to the individual sites, but only a simple no frills UI to get round the mobile safari problem. Aren’t you the dev behind the mobile plugin? Incorporate it all under a premium theme! I’d buy it. Spent too much time already trying to work this all out…

ParticipantAre you using the default WP theme or a custom theme?
I had the same issue (https://buddypress.org/community/groups/requests-feedback/forum/topic/feature-requset-global-rename-abilty-for-the-word-group/) and I was given a number of solutions. A few replies down, Paul Gibbs showed how to change/make a new language file. That should work.
My problem was that I was using a custom theme and the theme files had to be edited. Hopefully you’ll find what you need at the link I posted. Good luck!
