ParticipantSemi-resolved: I still don’t know why it was happening, but I’ve duplicated and modified the stream event delegation functions (for favoriting) (global.js line 166 or so) and targetted them to the posts container div on the front page instead, and the ajax is firing now.
Followup question: if I have _inc/global.js in my theme, it’ll override the one in bp-default, like everything else would, yes? And thus be safe from BP upgrade overwriting?

aces
ParticipantIt shouldn’t be too hard to adapt your own theme using the buddypress template pack and the codex guide
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/ and https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-eleven-bp-1-5/ might be useful, particularly if your theme is based on either…
An Alternative to that, and if you aren’t happy with any of the buddypress themes, is to build a child of bp-default. A good place to start is: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/

MemberI’m having the same issue. I built a custom WP theme and I’m now wanting to integrate BP into my theme. Or should I take an existing free BP theme and start from scratch?
February 12, 2012 at 8:39 pm #129679In reply to: New install, nothing works!
@mercime
ParticipantThis is not a BuddyPress issue then, but a theme issue. If you change to bp-default theme, I gather that the issue will be corrected.
In all probabilty, your theme would need to be updated to be compatible with latest BP/WP versions. You should contact theme author for the free support which should come together with the purchase of a premium theme.

MemberThanks for the suggestion – but unfortunately I still have no buddypress pages found after installing and activating the templates pack plugin and going through the compatibility steps.
I’m using the Salutation theme from ThemeForest which is apparantly already compatible with BuddyPress as well as WordPress anyway. Very confused, as i’ve installed BuddyPress in the past and had no problems – even without installing additional templates. Confused!

Any other suggestions?

ParticipantSo you created a child theme of Thematic and then you installed & activated BP Template Pack plugin and have gone through Appearance > BP Compatibility?
Open up child theme’s header.php file, copy all code, paste in pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated URI here. Do the same for your theme’s footer.php, sidebar.php, index.php and page.php files. If you do not have such file/s in your child theme, copy the same file from parent theme Thematic.

ParticipantDownload permalink.php file from server wp-content/themes/themeveriteuniverselle/members/single/activity/permalink.php to your computer and make the following change:
Open up permalink.php and at the bottom of the file, add “ immediately before “ so bottom of file would liook something like this:
``
Save file.
Upload permalink.php back to server wp-content/themes/themeveriteuniverselle/members/single/activity/
February 12, 2012 at 3:52 pm #129664@mercime
ParticipantYou need to go through Step 3 of the BP Compatibility process to superimpose your theme’s HTML structure onto the BP template files . I helped someone with the graphene theme a while back. Check if this is still applicable with the current Graphene version https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/where-are-my-sub-menus/

KeymasterI’ve seen this before when a theme or another plugin is using the ‘wp_title’ filter in a way that causes it to break in BuddyPress. If you can do a find-in-files, let me know what themes or plugins you have which contain the phrase ‘wp_title’, otherwise let us know which theme and all the plugins you are using.

MemberI’ve run into the issue myself. It seems to have something to do with the activity-loop.php function. When enabling the external JS/AJAX I get some compatibility on my custom theme. For whatever reason If i want to comment on a post it will redirect me to “activity/reply/” with 404 error. Could it be a permalink function or does the custom theme need some JS/Ajax to make it work?

MemberThanks for the reply Aces.
Yes that is the theme and I have installed the buddypress template pack and modified the templates indicated by the plugin. I have had success in getting the various pages (i.e. registration, member directory, etc) to now display but have had no luck in removing the above warnings from my blog posts yet.
I will go through the details on the links you provided because they appear to indicate some additional templates. Will let you know how I fare.Thanks again.
February 11, 2012 at 9:55 pm #129645aces
ParticipantIs http://themes.truethemes.net/Karma/ the theme you are referring to?
It doesn’t seem to be buddypress compatible out of the box.
Have you installed the buddypress template pack and gone through the process of making it compatible? ie: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/

ParticipantB. Copy sidebar.php and Save As sidebar-buddypress.php
Open up sidebar-buddypress.php and at the top, above all code contained within, add this
`
`Then at the bottom, below all other code, add this:
`jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});`
[ @erica34 – updated code above to add script required]Save file.
C. Upload header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to your theme folder in server wp-content/themes/evolution/ at the same directory where your regular header.php and sidebar.php are in
Final note: Copy over the stylesheet modifications to contain some BP elements to your theme’s stylesheet https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ then adjust as needed.
February 11, 2012 at 9:16 pm #129643@mercime
ParticipantTo make your theme compatible with BuddyPress, you only need to create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php
If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your evolution theme folder during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your evolution theme folder in server – activity, blogs, forums, members, groups, register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
A. Copy header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the bottom of the file, below other code contained within, add this:

Upload header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to your tpsunrise folder in server wp-content/themes/tpsunrise/
February 11, 2012 at 2:17 am #129621In reply to: Configuring own theme – TP Sunrise theme
@mercime
ParticipantFor http://www.campertrailerseniors.net using TP Sunrise theme found at WP Repository https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/tpsunrise
If you’ve touched/revised any of the BP Template files transferred to your tpsunrise folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP Template folders from your tpsunrise theme folder. After that, run Appearance > BP Compatibility process again so you’ll get clean new BP template files transferred to your folder.
You only need to create two new files and upload both to your WP theme’s folder in your server wp-content/themes/tpsunrise/
A. Copy tpsunrise theme’s header.php file and save as header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the very bottom of the file, below all code add this:
``Save file.

February 10, 2012 at 1:52 pm #129596In reply to: override ajax and js files in bp-default theme
tifire
Participanthi ray, thanks for the post. I tried to use hooks in /_inc/ajax.php, but it didn’t seem to work in my case. Here is what I would like to achieve:
When an activity post is DELETED, an image will be automatically updated right below the group admin avatar.I added some code in /_inc/ajax.php, pass on the new image url by json. In /_inc/global.js, when the “delete_activity” action is fired, the new image url is returned as response. Then show the new image. The code at /_inc/global.js is like: jq(‘#myimage’).attr(“src”, new_image_url);
If it is not recommended to override /_inc/ajax.php, is there a better way to do so? Thanks again.

ParticipantThe difference is that the pasted source content of your page.php you posted above in http://pastebin.com/BPGP9w3u where I based the HTML structure didn’t contain “ which was in source content of your index.php post above inhttp://pastebin.com/11HsjUrw
You would need to add that missing line right under get_header in 16 files of BP Templates like so …
