KeymasterThere’s a WordPress theme called P2:
http://p2theme.com/It’s not compatible with BuddyPress though, however there is a fork of P2 (called P2 Reloaded) that reportedly supports BuddyPress:
http://p2reloaded.com/2011/07/3-0-beta-release/I haven’t tested it myself.

KeymasterIt’s not recommended to override /_inc/ajax.php, is there a specific reason why you’d want to do that? There are hooks in /_inc/ajax.php that you can use to add functionality.
If you need to override both ajax.php and the JS, you might as well create your own parent theme instead of creating a child theme of bp-default.

ParticipantMr Brainz, i have just tested it. It works! Thanks again.
Do you happen to know how to override bp-default/_inc/ajax.php in child theme?

ParticipantEr, um. I haven’t done anything deliberate in either direction — just upgraded BP (and the template pack, because I wasn’t sure at all how that fit into things). So, since I don’t have an _inc folder in my theme, I’m assuming it’s coming from BP 1.5.x….?
Is there a quick reference anywhere for wrangling BP’s js stuff? I must admit after all this time and code, there is still a lot that is very much opaque to me with BP.
Edit: Back at my dev machine, and I’m definitely loading global.js from the updated BP1.5 default theme.

ParticipantAm still trying to find out how to do this. I’ve had a look at various themes and not found one that has it.
Can anyone at least tell if it’s possible to do this with Buddypress?

KeymasterOh, and it also fails if I use the BP Default theme, not just my custom theme.

ParticipantI use it with buddypress…. Since bp 1.5 the main buddypress pages show up with the plugin default settings and you can add extra pages on the settings page…
There might be a better plugin (or even theme…) to handle buddypress sitemap.xml files out there though….

The theme developer has responded and does need more assistance because the navigation and website header are missing.

The them developer has applied the changes you suggested. If you go back to the test website http://buddypress.centennialchristianchurch.com/
and view the only navigation menu pages, the website header and navigation bar are removed.February 9, 2012 at 11:05 am #129530In reply to: override ajax and js files in bp-default theme
Mr Brainz
MemberThe way I did it was to re-register the JS in the child functions.php file
`wp_deregister_script( ‘dtheme-ajax-js’);
wp_enqueue_script( ‘dtheme-ajax-js’, get_bloginfo(‘stylesheet_directory’) . ‘/_inc/global.js’, array( ‘jquery’ ), $version );`February 9, 2012 at 9:51 am #129529In reply to: Simple mobile theme that also covers forum?

ParticipantCurrently I am customizing bp-default theme to be used for my project. Is the theme buddypress-mobile compatible with bp-default? If it does,it saves me a lot of time. Thanks.

@mercime
Participant@askwpcoach looks like you’re using a custom theme which might need to be updated. Change to bp-default theme and check if issue is resolved.
@mepierce53 could entirely be a different issue. Could be the image plugin or a custom theme, etc.

ParticipantSo is content with right sidebar the layout you want? http://www.powerofone.org/powerofone/integrated-action/
1. Go to dashboard menu Appearance > BP Compatibility and click on Save/Finish.
2. Have to see what method you need to use for Step 3 of the BP compatibility process.
– Open up theme’s header.php, copy content, post on pastebin.com, click submit, and post the generated URI here.
– Do the same for footer.php, index.php, page.php and sidebar.phpFebruary 9, 2012 at 2:53 am #129514In reply to: buddypress searchable?

ParticipantThanks @mercime . I was missing the search loop – it was mentioned in the functions, but I didn’t see a note to add the associated file to my child theme.

ParticipantI’m not sure I understand you, but you may need to copy index.php file from /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/index.php to your child theme, ie: /wp-content/themes/default-child/index.php and edit it there.

ParticipantYou shouldn’t have two files named style.css however you could rename the old style.css to old.css and import it into the buddypress child of bp default theme.
To create a child of bp-default theme, create a new directory in your themes subfolder ie: /wp-content/themes/shinshan/ and in it put a simple text file named style.css
At the very top of style.css put something like the following:
`/*
Theme Name: shinshan
Theme URI: http://example.org/themes/shinshan/
Description: shinshan theme for BuddyPress.
Version: 1.0
Author: shinshan
Author URI: http://example.org/
Template: bp-default
Tags: buddypress, two-column, grey, dark
*/`
You could copy and paste the css (without the Theme head section) from your old theme immediately below that header or use the following line:@import url( old.css );
(presuming the above file is renamed and in the current folder). Then preview or activate your new bp-default child theme.
I suspect that importing the css might cause more problems than it solves – but it depends on what you have in it….
To find out what needs to be changed, webpages can be examined with firebug (download) in firefox, or developer tools in internet exlorer 8/9 and Chrome (press f12 on windows)…

Participant== i just want to know if buddypress has a easy way to change the colours ==
You mean you want to create a child theme of bp-default theme and make it look like Motion theme? Change colors via child theme’s stylesheet.
If that’s not what you meant .. the theme used in the BP Template Pack walkthrough is a WP theme which you can download https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/motion That example was done some time ago, so if you find different divs in the new version of Motion theme, feel free to ask for assistance here.
