Participant@misterbdon same theme but do check if there were any changes to the page.php source code posted by einn1 two months ago. If there were no changes, then follow the instructions I posted in previous page. If there were changes, post code of page.php in pastebin.com, click “submit” and post the generated URL here.

MemberMercime, I have the same (InStyle) theme and I have been trying to install buddypress with no luck yet.
Can you guide me a little on what I am missing? Thanks!October 10, 2011 at 9:30 pm #122000In reply to: Forums redirecting to homepage

ParticipantI managed to resolve some of my problems by editing the “Forum” page and adding the [bbp-forum-index] shortcode. See https://buddypress.org/community/groups/miscellaneous/forum/topic/buddypress-theme-with-bbpress-templates/

I’m sure this is a theme problem, but they are not much help. Any clues how to do this would be appreciated.

ParticipantRe Activity Stream – I see activity streams as records of each action and reaction within the site. If I wanted the facebook-like wall feature, I’d use BP Wire by @sbrajesh. But that’s just me.
Re BuddyPress Template Pack plugin – boonebgorges and r-a-y have added a second method in the 1.2 version which makes it much easier to set up (depends on the WP theme you have) and future-proof. Upgrading the plugin later on won’t require any updates in template files.
Examples of 2nd method:

ParticipantHave you tried using the features that google chrome has. You can right click any item and it will show you everything that makes a particular item. You can then copy those css rules and then paste them into your child theme stylesheet and adjust them.

ParticipantThank you for your efforts. You were correct about the cause of the problem but the error was mine typographically. I left a ‘d’ out of the header-buddypress.php file name so presumably the original header.php file content from the twentyeleven theme was still being used – causing the same result as you described. I must connect a decent monitor to my netbook for this work I think, that and get better sleep.
From my perspective this has determined me to spend the time to gain a better understanding.Once again thanks for your guidance.

Member@r-a-y did you ever post the plugin code on github or pastebin? I have recently forked a plugin to enable users to upload a profile image, as per Facebook timeline, but at the moment this only works for the member header – not groups.
I chose not to provide a range of default images – but this is easily done by hacking the header function that comes with the Twenty Eleven theme.
I will get around to sharing my modified plugin when I’ve finished tidying it up. It is also BP 1.5 compatible.

ParticipantNot quite the same. In this case, it seems like you’re missing the opening div tag that was supposed to be added in header-buddypress.php hence closing the container prematurely. This should be in header-buddypress.php http://pastebin.com/kr1jK5PW

ParticipantThanks again –
Yes both BuddyPress and Buddy Press Template Pack plugins are activated.
Here is a screenshot of the Members Directory page –
https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/LLpt3eGzxlUSY1kPNJq45LGj7ar25XRPe7l625Mbz28?feat=directlink
(in case you cant see it: it is very similar to your shot of misalignment after step 3 except the BP element component widths are ok)
ALL BP pages are affected in the same way.I also have an “Activate’ page that asks for an activation key, although it doesnt appear on the navigation menu, and which has the same misalignment of the sidebar items..

ParticipantLeave a comment on the site re update schedule. @sbrajesh has been updating his premium and free plugins for BP 1.5 but I don’t know his schedule. There is another method but also needs to be updated for 1.5 – using sitewide activity as wire/wall http://buddydev.com/buddypress/using-activity-as-wire-in-buddypress-1-2-themes/ where again, post a comment there to check schedule if you’re interested.

@mercime
ParticipantThat theme has not been updated since 2009. If you’re adventurous, you could install the Theme Check plugin and the Log Deprecated Notices plugin and bring it up to current WP standards.
== I have moved the six folders as indicated and created a new bp-default under my wp-content/themes and transfered the folders into there. ==
You should have the WP theme of choice activated before you activate and run BP Template Pack compatibility. If you intend to use a child theme of e.g. Hybrid, then you must have that child theme activated before you activate and run BP Template pack.October 9, 2011 at 10:09 pm #122562In reply to: Where’s my WPTheme and How to Get it Back?

Memberoh it may seem that the buddy press is not compatible at all with That Music Theme. so now I need to figure out how to reskin the buddypress default theme seeing as it would appear I am now stuck with that or faced with restarting my entire website from scratch again.

Membermy word press theme is in there, yes. I have moved the six folders as indicated and created a new bp-default under my wp-content/themes and transfered the folders into there. In step two I do not see my chosen theme but still the buddy press default theme. Thus I am unable to align and tweak.

@mercime
ParticipantYour WP theme files would still be in wp-content/themes/yourthemefolder
You need to install and activate the BP Template Pack plugin and go to Appearance > BP Compatibility Process.

MemberOK! It tries with another user(subscriber) and it worked very well. It just don’t work when I try with the admin user.
I think I did the remove part with another theme and now I’m back to the default theme it doesn’t work. Could it be a theme compatibility? Where does this number save? And I checked I couldn’t find any table for favorites, where are they?
Thanks a lot
October 9, 2011 at 4:03 pm #123209@mercime
ParticipantDefault layout of BP components is a two column layout. That’s why I’ve used the 2nd method to make 2011 compatible with BP. If you want a one column layout for all BP templates OR a mix of one column layout and two column layout, you’d have to use the 1st method for BP compatibility, i.e. changing 14 template files transferred to your BP 2011 child theme folder.
== misalignment of sidebar elements remains on the BP pages ==
BuddyPress and BP Template Pack plugin are activated, right? Do you have a screenshot of that misalignment? ALL the BP pages or a few? If so, which pages?.October 9, 2011 at 11:26 am #123053pawriter
ParticipantI have made the suggested changes to style.css in the BP Twenty eleven child theme but the misalignment of sidebar elements remains on the BP pages – it has always been fine on the theme blog page.
October 9, 2011 at 9:41 am #123044pawriter
ParticipantThank you I will proceed with the re-alignment step then Finish.
Do I have to have the sidebar on all the BP pages – I do want it on the blog page but it is superfluous elsewhere?
October 9, 2011 at 7:34 am #123007@mercime
ParticipantInstruction was to paste `` at the TOP of the file so sidebar-buddypress.php should be like this http://pastebin.com/aLkf4uaS
