ParticipantBP Codex is your friend
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/Per info given in above links, open up /activity/index.php and at the top of the file replace:
``with
`<div id="page-” >`Then at the bottom of the file, replace
``
with
``
Save file. Proceed to change HTML of remaining 12 files posted in links above. There might be a need to include div entry plus closing div. But check out first how this turns out. Good luck.

ParticipantI’ve been trying to get a theme BP 1.5 ready for a while now and can’t seem to get it. The template pack worked great for 1.2.9 and I’ve tried the same instructions with some patchwork for 1.5 (such as grabbing the template files from the svn instead of the plugin folder). Things show fine (mostly) but replies, posts and other ajax tasks aren’t completing. Using firebug and posting a group update (what’s new) shows the response from wp-load.php to be totally blank.
This is it theme working with BP 1.2.9 on staging: http://dev.archonic.com/carleton/dhc/
This is it it not working with BP 1.5 rev 5086 on development: http://archonic.pwnz.org/carleton/dhc/groups
You can log in with “student”, “student” on both sites to see what I mean. I’m assuming all issues (can’t post update, can’t post new topic, can’t delete, comment or reply, etc) with 1.5 are due to the same big fumble. Switching to the default theme doesn’t make it work either!

ModeratorDid you change the settings on when it should show or is it not showing for all users? If that is the case it is probably something to do with a scripting error however if you can a link to see your site would help in diagnosis.
First port of call would be to turn off all other plugins try with default theme also if still getting issue. What extent you can do that would depend on your set up but does sound like a clash if the setting is to show it and you’re the right role you’ve set (if you set one to see it).

ParticipantYes, I’m using it now and it’s all good. Except BP Columns theme cannot be used any more to generate the left sidebar. I really need this. Does anybody have a solution how to make a left sidebar?

ParticipantHave you tried changing back to the default buddypress theme? A number of those errors sound like they could be created by a theme that isn’t rendering properly? You could re-create a theme very similar to what you are currently using with a child theme of the default buddypress theme: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/

Participant@gregfielding my bad, that code above was for BP 1.5 beta 3 and this only prevents the adminbar.css from being enqueued via wp_head. So you can definitely use your own adminbar.css by @import in style.css of child theme or enqueueing it, whichever you prefer.
August 30, 2011 at 9:01 pm #119293gregfielding
ParticipantThe first option removed the buddybar. The second resulted in an error message:
Warning: call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, ‘bp_core_load_buddybar_css’ was given in /home/housings/public_html/townswell.com/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 405
To clarify, I don’t want to remove it, I just want to be able to restyle it with my own child theme css.

Participant@ribena_wrath re sidebar below content: Looks like you closed a div too soon. If you require assistance, open up your theme’s page.php, copy the code, paste on pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated url here.

@mercime
ParticipantI suggest you post this issue at theme dev’s forums at http://themekraft.com/groups/custom-community/forum where the theme devs @svenl77 and @konradS will be able to assist you. Do add which version of BP and Costum Community Theme you using as well when you post there.

ParticipantLines 89-95 from bp-default theme’s header.php https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.2.9/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php contains the search.
August 30, 2011 at 8:17 pm #119283@mercime
Participant@gregfielding disregard previous post … to disable BP’s Admin Bar aka buddybar, just add this to functions.php
`remove_action( ‘bp_init’, ‘bp_core_load_buddybar_css’ );`
August 30, 2011 at 6:07 pm #119275@mercime
ParticipantYou can deregister adminbar.css and adminbar-rtl.css by adding this to functions.php
`//Deregister enqueued admin styles
function greg_deregister_admin_styles() {
wp_deregister_style( ‘bp-admin-bar’ );
wp_deregister_style( ‘bp-admin-bar-rtl’ );
}
add_action( ‘wp_print_styles’, ‘greg_deregister_admin_styles’, 20 );`August 30, 2011 at 6:04 pm #119274In reply to: BuddyPress theme with bbPress templates

ModeratorThe beta 3 should be ok to run on a live site. Always back up though before installing beta BuddyPress. You will get native drop downs and many other fixes/enhancements

ParticipantThanks mercime. Was there a solution in there for the adminbar css? I read through it all and it looks like that part is still up in the air…
This is going to be a nightmare when I go to upgrade my main existing community…

ParticipantOne more thing with this theme. http://testbp.org/discussion/ has drop down menus. Is it using a plugin for that? I read from some forum that drop down is soon integrated into BuddyPress default theme, but it was 9 months ago. Isn’t it still integrated?

KeymasterOn the plus side, I am one of the admins on testbp. It’s probably because bbPress 2.0 tries to use “forums”, and BuddyPress also tries to use “forums”. BuddyPress must be winning.
Try going to wp-admin > Settings > Forums, and set the “Forums base” and “Topics base”. There’s also a page called “discussion”. I’ve not used bbPress 2.0, so I’m not really sure. @johnjamesjacoby will know!

ParticipantI’m going crazy here. Where can I get instructions how to create a forum page like this: http://testbp.org/discussion/ ? I have searched everywhere. I have asked from the admins in testbp, but no answer. It is not possible that there is no help how to set up this kind of forum.
Does anybody know who has set up this forum? How is this done? Are they using bbPress WordPress plugin or is it a standalone bbPress forum installation that is integrated into WP and BB?
Any help is appreciated! -
