Participantok so ive started playing with the css file that has control over the admin bar for facelook, so far ive tried copying the admin bar code out of the default buddypress theme(where it looks fine) and replaced the admin bar code in facelook with it.
that equals blue text and a vertical menu off the to the far right, not in the right position or the right look. ideas anyone? thanks.

MemberNever mind. Just adding the css code to the main stylesheet for the theme and it all comes up correctly now. Apparently was not reading default.css for some reason. But all fine now.

ParticipantWhat you’ve described (create and assign custom capabilities per subscription type/level) is one of the basic features of a very powerful plugin called s2member. It can seem overwhelming at first (it’s huge!), but once you start playing with it and experimenting, you’ll see just how flexible it can be.

MemberActually, I tried switching to the default BP theme to see if it was a theme-specific issue, but the issue didn’t go away, which leads me to believe it is a Buddypress issue.

ParticipantSo I figured it out. If anyone else wants to display a default status, only to the logged-in user on their profile if they have no current activity update, put this code in your member-header.php in your child theme.
`
<?php if ( !bp_get_activity_latest_update($user_id = false) && bp_is_my_profile() )
echo “Oops, you have no current status! Update your status below.”;
else echo “” ?>

Participant== I’m experiencing this same thing. ==
Could very well have been caused by theme which needs to be updated to delete old template tags and/or add new ones.

ParticipantNot necessarily an easy fix with so little info to go on. Default is to show the adminbar all the time so setting ‘yes’ to hide it for logged out users isn’t going to change things for logged in users.
Usual questions must be asked now: Are you running a custom theme? If so then can you revert to bp-default and see how that performs.

KeymasterTo get your site back, rename /wp-admin/plugins/, visit wp-admin/plugins.php in your browser, and then rename /wp-admin/plugins back to what it was originally. Refresh your browser, reactivate the plugins and then try activating them again. This could be a conflict with your theme but worth checking plugins first.

ParticipantCreate a Page Template and add the code below
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.2.8/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php#L87 to line 97
Then publish and style to taste.May 15, 2011 at 7:45 pm #112335In reply to: Update are not shown

ParticipantWP/BP versions? Are you using the bp-default theme, custom BP theme or WP theme with BP Template Pack? Have you deactivated all plugins except BP and changed to bp-default theme to eliminate possible plugin/theme conflicts?
May 15, 2011 at 7:43 pm #112334@mercime
Participant@radovic you can see the template tag added now.
@vcantrell, good of you to share your solution. Please remember to surround your code with backticks.
May 15, 2011 at 7:31 pm #112333In reply to: Does Artisteer work with Buddypress themes?
@mercime
Participant@thewomaninus
== I have Artisteer and started working on a theme and since I just installed buddypress am now wondering “Will it even work with it?” ==It could work with BP Template Pack, BUT
1. personally, I’d recommend against using Artisteer to generate your theme. Better to download theme closest to design you want from https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ then adjust accordingly.
2. code generated could most possibly make it harder for your to integrate BuddyPress template files
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/
3. don’t know whether any javascript generated from creating that theme with Artisteer would have conflict with BuddyPress or BP plugins.
4. etc.== Can anyone explain to me how to have the front page of my site not as a blog or buddypress? Then to have a blog of different Categories on different tabs? Then a place to click to go into where buddypress would be? Does that make sense? ==
Yes, I know what you mean. That is basically a WordPress template question. Create a Page Template, put in code for that template, publish the page with custom Page Template and set it as front page of your site.

fladnag
MemberIt is default theme with same css changes. At the begining everything was ok, but after installation some plugins, activity stream loader doesn’t work. E. g. when I click on “Load more” or I want change tab (All members, My friends…) I see loader, but it does not refresh the page…
Probably you are right and it is JS conflict, but I do not know what to do. Unfortunately, I need all those plugins…May 15, 2011 at 10:23 am #112311Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterIf you don’t want to use those components, go to your site’s Wp-admin -> BuddyPress -> Components, and disable the ones you don’t want.

ParticipantThe Buddypress.org theme isn’t too far down the line from the buddypress default theme. Some heavy CSS measures might be required however.
