@gcortex – Uninstalling the forums component and removing the forums tab from the header are two different things.

If you want to uninstall the forums, login to your WordPress install and navigate to “BuddyPress > Component Setup”. Under “bbPress Forums”, select “Disabled” and then save the settings. Forums should no longer be enabled.

If you want to remove the forums tab from your header, since you’re using the Fishbook theme, you should edit the header of the Fishbook theme.

I know I`m tooting my own horn here ;-) , but my BuddyBuilder theme enables you to allow user access to individual BP components and WP pages/posts depending on logged-in/logged-out status. It also provides an optional Site Lockdown feature with/without a Splashpage on the frontpage, and an optional custom redirect page if Site Lockdown is enabled. See the bottom of the right-hand column on this page for all the Privacy features available: http://buddylite.com/buddybuilder-options/

I thought it might be something in my theme files, but I deleted all the theme files and the problem didn’t go away. Same when I went to default theme.

    Ideas anyone?

No, it’s a single site install. Version 3.1.2, now all other plugins and themes are disabled. Still no sign of BuddyPress.

== Eveyrytime I create a new site (I’m running multisites on WordPress) Buddypress creates a tab named Community. ==

This is not default behavior. Causes for this may be
    – you’re using a theme that generates a community tab – change to bp-default theme to see difference, or
    – you installed WP/BP in subdirectory of site named community, or
    – you have WP multisite and defined BP in subsite named community.

    == “Sorry, Not Found, Error 404 ==

== Can anyone tell me how to fix this? ==

Change theme to bp-default and deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and see if your site is working like default installation like http://testbp.org

Plus you can look over sites at http://www.bpinspire.com/ or you can check out the fishbook theme https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/fishbook-buddypress-buddypack

Deactivate all plugins including BuddyPress and change to twentyten theme, check if permalinks are working with the menu.

If pretty permalinks are working, then check with webhost if mod_rewrite is enabled in your server. If permalinks are working, re-upload BuddyPress plugin manually via FTP or cpanel, etc.

I agree that the default theme needs a designers touch, but it has all the nuts and bolts to make everything work. If for some reason your new theme breaks, the default will at least be there to back you up. Plus its always helpful to be able to simply turn off your theme to see if its a BP issue or a issue in something you did.. If it works in default then it will work in your theme.

What your talking about with the stream I agree changes should be made, but thats a personal preference so you have to write that function into whatever you are doing and go from there..

I’ve already answered your other post about the missing adminbar and deleting the wp_footer will lose it. There’s nothing in the fishbook theme — a bp-default child theme with CSS revisions only — which would affect losing the adminbar. Re-upload the fishbook theme and while you’re at it, reupload the BuddyPress plugin. Are you sure you didn’t select “Disable adminbar for logged out users” in your BuddyPress settings in the backend?

I’ve seen this problem in the forums and it’s because some BP themes have not been updated. In this case, I see that you’re using the “Version: 1.1 RC1” of CosmicBuddy. The theme has been updated in “Version 1.2 RC2 Update 1” http://buddydev.com/themes/cosmic-buddy/

You shouldn’t need to add the buttons manually again. If you changed themes, make sure you go through the template pack instruction steps again. If they still don’t show up, I would contact theme support to see if it’s buddypress compatible.

I looked elsewhere for this type of error and read it could be the result of a space before a php marker. So for example ” <?php" instead of "<?php"

I couldn’t find that space so I replaced my current functions.php in my custom theme folder with the functions.php in the bp-default template folder.

    Seems to work now.

I’d build it as a custom post type

I was using a child theme file for my entry.php I deleted this to revert back to using the default entry.php in the standard location and it seemed to work. Now I just have to go about styling it all over again.

It looks like its a theme error. I have a feeling this is going to be a nightmare to track down. Which file is responsible within the theme for posting replies? Entry.php?
