ParticipantAs part asked you do need to provide as much relevant info on your install/setup as possible if you want help.
Are you running a custom theme? suffusion?
If running a custom theme please disable it and revert back to BP-default theme and then check for the group creation button.

ParticipantI’ve tried this every which way but sideways, but can’t get it working either in functions.php. Too bad, it would have made a sweet addition to the theme options.
As for reporting it; I don’t think it can be qualified as a bug. At most, an oversight. Maybe the utility of such a function hasn’t been brought to light until now?

ParticipantI had this working before, but it’s stopped and I can’t get it to work again. Have they made a change to the filter again?
I’ve tried adding this to the functions.php file in my theme to no avail. I also created a bp-custom.php file, which also didn’t work.
remove_filter( ‘bp_get_the_profile_field_value’, ‘xprofile_filter_link_profile_data’, 50 );
Does anyone have any idea why it’s not working? Is there somewhere specific to place it in the file?
Thanks,

Participantyes @mercime i understand that, but the point is not that it didn’t work with me at first, the point is why it is a feature here on the budypress site and not easily available on the core package/theme, so here they think its a good feature, but on all the other budypress sites its not, or if you want it, you have to hack it in to have something similar, doesn’t make sense… basically the budypress.org site is not a clear representation of a budypress site

@mercime
Participant@cybersnac, that’s the way it should be done. See https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/
Also, BP Template Pack has not been updated since Feb. 2010. See following thread for @hotforwords‘ BP Template Pack update https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/buddypress-template-pack-and-buddypress-1-2-6-things-break-but-i-have-a-solution

ParticipantHi eredepe, this bug doesn’t make sense for me. Please activate a different theme, and then reactivate the custom community theme.
If the error still occurs, I will need to check it, and try to reproduce it.

ParticipantNever been able to get this working in anything other than wp-config or bp-custom in functions.php it appears to be too late to be acknowledged – not useful in one wants portability via functions.php for a theme

KeymasterYes. Have a test install of BuddyPress and look at the “Profile Field Setup” menu item underneath the main “BuddyPress” menu in wp-admin to see what you can do with the profile fields.
Per my previous post, the registration form is at /bp-default/registration/register.php. Copy that into your (child?) theme, preserving directory structure.

Participant-Tested Hnla’s solution, or rechecking in group settings. No-success
-Tested re-installing forums- No success
-Tested going to default theme- No success.Maybe @hnla can assist me. This man is having problems with forums (error when creating topic), but your solution is not working for him.
He is graciously letting me go in as admin to do some tests, but they all come up negative!
By the way… as I am doing tests, I get a alot of Internal Server Errors…

ParticipantTake a close look at the nested divs: you’ve got a #content with a #container inside, then another #content inside that. That’s likely gonna throw stuff off.
Also, check if the closing `` at the top of your file is an oversight, or if it’s required in your theme.
January 12, 2011 at 10:26 pm #102681In reply to: Issue with BuddyPress pages and alignment
@mercime
ParticipantThe thing is, the alignment is in all probability controlled by the styling set forth in your active theme’s style.css file. And, instead of posting the content of your style.css here, it would be easier for all concerned if you just post the URL of the affected webpage.

ParticipantI think there are probably a number of things that would cause that message but I doubt it’s permissions.
When you installed BuddyPress, did you get the forums working *before* any customizing (plugins/themes)? I’d recommend always doing this when installing or upgrading because it will help you to discover issues before you make customizations of your own.
I’m not sure what to advise, but you might try installing a completely vanilla (untouched) WordPress install in another subdirectory on your domain/server, and then install BuddyPress and and activate the forums on that test install.
If it works on the test install, something you customized along the way is causing the issue and you should begin removing/adding those customizations one by one to pinpoint the problem.
January 12, 2011 at 7:53 pm #102661In reply to: Fatal error: Class ’Bp_Activity_Tags_Widget’
David Carson
ParticipantIt looks like you are trying to use this plugin – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-activity-tags/ – because `Bp_Activity_Tags_Widget` is not in BuddyPress itself.
Try deactivating the plugin or, if you’re unable to log in to the admin, remove `bp-activity-tags` folder from the `wp-content/plugins` directory.
And maybe remove the short-code or widget corresponding to this plugin from your theme as well.

Is there a way we can stretch the content of the page so there are no gaps on the sides?
It seems like wasted space.Thank you

Participantthanks for response, but have to conclude that your method does not work for me. `$sharetrans = __(‘Share’, ‘bpsi’);` is something completely new for me, so I tried to add .po/.mo files to language folder, to main folder, tried to rename language folder to languages, tried to change your compatir in bpsi-es_ES, nothing helps, still word “Share”.
what is the method./idea to get it done? maybe you could show me example of load_textdomain/_e/__ for one string and I will change remaining manually?another issue is that my theme body is 90% and now I see that share container in groups is not fully displayed = it ends on the middle of button “email”…is it known issue?
thanks a lot!

ParticipantHiya teach!
Definitely going to have to rethink Bp-WP-Navbar for the next update. For now though, I’m concentrating on learning some more basics to get my BP theme framework finished. You can see the support site built with it here: http://buddylite.com/
January 12, 2011 at 8:24 am #102627In reply to: Question about updating themes for BP1.3 & WP pages
Hugo Ashmore
ParticipantYes there is a single inclusion of wp_nav_menu() in header.php for 1.3, this has a callback or fallback_cb to wp_menu_pages() run from a function in functions.php; if wp_nav_menu() not initialised from the dashboard bp will use the wp_menu_pages instead
Occurred to me when I first played around with it to configure dropdowns for bp-default that it might well necessitate a re-think of add-all-nav… plugin.
Also – and I am still fuming over this – but it was brought to my attention that wp_nav_menus do indeed do nested children but you have to visually arrange them (bad!) so I thank the WP forums and other places where I tried to elicit help on that and other wp_nav_menu issues for the lack of responses.
