ParticipantCould there be an issue using a responsive design with a static front page instead of the WordPress default page?
None that I could imagine.

@mercime
ParticipantYou’d find the basic information about BuddyPress components at https://codex.buddypress.org/user/buddypress-components-and-features/
Limiting the number of groups which can be created by user is plugin territory https://wordpress.org/plugins/limit-groups-per-user/

ParticipantOK I restored the database from the backup but the conversion failed again. It got about as far as “Converting topics 600” then just hung.
I restored from backup again, this time I set the rows limit to 50 and the delay time to 2 seconds. It got to “Converting topics 700” then hung again.
So my question now is why do my attempts to convert the forum keep failing?
I read @johnjamesjacoby’s post here which is similar to the instructions posted above – perhaps he could shed some light?
My set-up is WordPress 3.5.2, BuddyPress 1.8, BBPress 2.3.2

ParticipantThanks for the response!
I did use the shortcode from the bbPress codex, but I did not use the codex instructions for the installs. I used a few videos – one from my theme creator (which ended up being out of date) and some I found on YouTube. I’m a visual person, so I tend to go with video first.
Question:
Could there be an issue using a responsive design with a static front page instead of the WordPress default page?I’ll go over the bbPress codex link above this afternoon, do a clean install and see if that makes a difference.
Appreciate it!

ModeratorGood idea.
You should submit an enhancement ticket on https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/
And if you can submit a patch with the ticket… even better.July 21, 2013 at 6:05 am #168471In reply to: Register Page Blank in Latest Version (1.8)

July 21, 2013 at 5:29 am #168469In reply to: The name of the database for bbPress
@mercime
Participant@doollard just to be clear, BuddyPress is a WordPress plugin, and so BP uses the same database as your WP installation. Therefore:
– You can install BP in your first WP installation where you used DB prefix wp11_
– You can also install BP in your second WP installation where you used prefix bp77_Now if you mean that you want to run one WP/BP installation using two databases, that would be in the world of DB experts/developers. If you’re going to take this on yourself, look at:
– https://codex.wordpress.org/Class_Reference/wpdb

ParticipantHi Mercime,
I deactivated only buddypress plugins and tried to see ‘Activity Streams’ but it still was showing blank page. Actually, I dont have much technical knowledge about wordpress and plugins so i was worried if i will deactivate my all wordpress plugins, it might disturb my website.
I have not changed any core files of buddypress. Though, yesterday, i updated my buddypress to 1.8 version, previous version was 1.7, but after this update, still i am not able to see ‘Activity Streams’ Page.
Here is my website :

ParticipantIt is the default wordpress theme. I added it to the navigation but it removed the other two options. Although it just hit me that I can add the other two pages on the navigation.

ParticipantSorry for late reply, been on vacation.
Thank you for your response @bphelp ! I think this is what I needed.
Only issue is that I am not having luck for the ‘unblocked pages’. I have the newest versions of WordPress and Buddypress. I am also using the 2011 WordPress Theme.
Please let me know what other info you need for troubleshooting. I would love to see this work and I am sure it would help you too.
July 20, 2013 at 6:36 am #168410In reply to: [Resolved] BP default theme deleted?
@mercime
Participant@jloc14 just to be clear, you should have these files https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.8/bp-themes/bp-default inside the bp-default theme folder in your server. If you don’t see all those folders and files, then re-upload BuddyPress manually, i.e., via s/FTP.
If you have child theme of the BP Default theme, then you should activate the child theme, not the BP Default theme.
@mercime
Participant@blastblast see how https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+create+a+development+site+wordpress
Testing/upgrading WP or plugins in a dev (development) site is less stressful than testing/upgrading WP or plugins on production/live site especially when you have a BP site 🙂

ParticipantSo I’ve created the back-up sql files of my wordpress site with my host.
I am not as well versed with computers/site development as I wish I was- Can you tell me what it means to create/install a dev site?
