ParticipantMy developer is trying to use Nextend Connect, separate plugins each for Facebook, Twitter, Google. Anyone try them? I’m not sure the individual ratings are real, but they’re pretty glowing: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=nextend+connect

ParticipantHow did you install WP via webhost script or manual install e.g. via s/FTP or similar? Have you tried re-uploading WordPress manually?

ParticipantMy WordPress version is 3.5.1 and my Buddypress version is 1.6.4
I loaded the .po and .mo files in french (although the file was for 1.6.3)
When I mean the front end, I’m talking about my profile admin section on the top right hand corner…where you get numbers whenever you get a message…
I have 2 messages right now but when I click them, its says the page dosent exist…
Now I have tested a profile which is not an administrator profile and the messages seem to be working right).
I have disabled all other plugins (I have only one which is Buddypress Courseware)January 29, 2013 at 12:37 am #151946shanebp

ParticipantOk. Do some research on conflicting Java scripts. You may have to take the same code and rewrite it a different way so the codes don’t conflict.. I’m not sure how well you understand java. Also. Go into the config.php in the WordPress and turn on the debugging mode and click the load more button.. You might be able to get an idea of what’s going on if the debugging gives it to you.. Also what’s the site address?

Participant@ubernaut .. Hi Ben,
Thanks for the quick reply. The only Trac ticket I could find that was close is this one.
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4573
It only addresses the issue where in WP Admin, the Activity time is +5 hours ahead of local time. The person who reported the problem may also have been in the EST timezone (-5) which means that the straight up GMT time from the dB would be +5 hours ahead of local time.
However, the Trac ticket was closed by DJPaul 3 months ago. I’m not sure what the protocol is to have it be considered as a possible bug again.
.. and my issue has another angle in that the Activity time that the end user sees in BP is -5 hours behind local time!
So relative to local time, I have buddypress related times that are -5 hours, correct time, and +5 hours off. Yikes! 🙂
Thanks,
Mike.January 28, 2013 at 9:32 pm #151920In reply to: Problem creating Buddypress enabled 2nd site…
@mercime
Participant@ted_myers By default, there is one BuddyPress instance in a multisite installation. So even if you enable multiblog, while you can now have e.g. subdomain.example.com/members in your install, what you can post to and see there is that of BP in the main site.
If you want to have multiple instances of BuddyPress in your Multisite installation, there are two available plugins for that
1. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-multi-network/
and
2. http://buddydev.com/plugins/buddypress-multi-network/January 28, 2013 at 9:29 pm #151917In reply to: Achievements version 3 events for group forums

ParticipantDrat! Another plugin that may not work for group forums. I guess it’s time to plan on converting off group forum. For future reference, is there a list of which plugin topic should be posted on wordpress.org and which should remain in the forums here on buddypress.org?
Thanks @djpaul

KeymasterI think bbPress plugin only, unless — by coincidence — the name of the event is shared (doubtful).

ParticipantFrom WordPress forum:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/does-this-work-with-existing-registered-buddypress-users?replies=8#post-3783207“so i have not encountered any problems with wsl with bp and if there is its pretty much manageable via the settings. but it would be epic if wsl will be officially be compatible with bp.”

ParticipantAfter some more research, it appears this is a known bug that is listed as “WON’T FIX” :
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4525
Not too clear about what they mean in the last comment by: “Closing as wontfix, as theme compat will enable us to fix this easier if it comes up again.”
but it would seem that the core team have no interest in fixing this. Has anyone else found any solutions to offer them?

ParticipantIf BP FriendPress does this
BP FriendPress is a BuddyPress plugin by Shawn38 that makes BuddyPress specific pages private so logged out users cannot view BP pages making more of a private community.
I think (but it hasn’t been updated for long time) https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/private-buddypress/ this could work.
Now I’m using it as it and it’s working for me.

ModeratorI use this: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/stop-spammer-registrations-plugin/
And this: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-registration-options/
The first one catches spam. The second – those that the 1st one overlooked.
From that time – no spam at all.January 26, 2013 at 9:55 am #151774In reply to: Thousands of spam subscribers

Participantjpeg_quality is deprecated since WP 3.5
use wp_editor_set_quality or WP_Image_Editor::set_quality() instead

ParticipantHi,
If i understand well, i only need to add the code below (where 3 is the secondary blog ID) in wp-config.php, right?
`define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 3 );`
But where exactly? Does it make any difference if i place it one line or the other? Where should i put it? Before and after which line?
By the way, i guess i will, but could someone please confirm i can have a different and independent buddypress install for each of the blogs in the wordpress multisite network?

ParticipantI got this site after my predecessor, so I wasn’t involved in the decision process.
Who cares !
Latest stable BP is version 1.6.3 and yes combining slightly different things is not the best practice.
Recommandation is to use it on WP 3.5
Read here in the sidebar:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress/BP 1.5.2 required at least WP 3.3 (déc. 2011)
changelog https://codex.wordpress.org/Version_3.3
changelog https://codex.wordpress.org/Version_3.4
changelog https://codex.wordpress.org/Version_3.5Also what theme do you use and have you deactivated all plugins while debugging ?
Passwword management is done by WPAnyway, you need to fix WP registering first on twenty10, than together with BP on the bp-default theme

ParticipantWhat does it mean to be BuddyPress compatible anyway? Why is it that the best plugins, SocialAuth-WordPress, WordPress Social Login, AddThis Social Sign In aren’t ‘BuddyPress optimized’?
I’m having a developer implement one of these for our site, and I’d be glad to share what we needed to do to ensure that we have a registration form with a few required fields, and existing users can use this service as well.

ParticipantUnfortunately none of these really stand out for a Facebook/Google/Twitter option:
BuddyPress compatible
LoginRadius – External service. Customizing registration page requires $49/mo. option.
WP-FB-AutoConnect – Facebook only. Creates duplicate users?
BuddyPress Facebook Connect+ – Facebook only. $30 (3-months) to $99 (year) to update plugin.
OneAll Social Login – Not customizable. Free up to 2500 users. Not designed to be BuddyPress compatible
SocialAuth-WordPress
WordPress Social Login
AddThis Social Sign In -
