I know it should go to bbPress or even WordPress forum, but I am posting this here as I see more chances of being it answered here, although, if mods decide I should post it there, I would.
I am developing with wp 3.5, bp 1.6.4, bbp 2.3 locally. I am using bp-default child theme (for just a few css changes, it’s essentially bp-default) with customized menu (not default buddypress menu, but one created from appearance > menu admin area). I have created a page called “community” and created pages called members, activity, group-forums etc. for buddypress as ‘sub-page’ of this ‘community’ page. This works perfectly.
I am also using bbPress for site-wide and group forums. Thus, to show my forum index, I have created a page called ‘Forums’ and I display forums with bbp-forum-index shortcode on this “Forums” page. This ‘Forums’ page is NOT a subpage of ‘Community’ (or any other) page, but I have put it under ‘community’ menu item – as it’s part of community logically/semantically.
The problem is that, if I go to the forums by clicking the forums link in communty > forums sub-menu Item, it does show the forums correctly, but the community item in the manu is not highlighted as current item, as it does for all the buddypress components. For example, even if I am on http://www.example.com/members/admin/activity/groups/, the ‘community’ menu item is highlighted. but if I am on http://www.example.com/forums/ (forum index), the community tab isn’t highlighted.
What can I do to solve this problem?
Where are you hosted? I suggest starting from scratch. This time, do not use Fantastico but install WordPress 3.5.1 manually, i.e., s/FTP upload.
I tried all plugins without success. Including changing themes. After I reinstalled WordPress Author has add media button Contributor does not. Here is a picture This is the first tome I have used assigned roles. I have been self hosting wp for 3 years.

I’m not aware of a filter for this, but you can definitely over-ride wp_safe_redirect in a manner that doesn’t affect its usage otherwise, ie. check the $location and adjust if applicable.
To over-ride it, you must do so within a plugin. It’s not about actions or filters.

No. And it would be a bad idea even if you could.
xprofile_get_field_data function is provided so that you CAN use it on non-profile pages.
Use http://pastie.org/ or similar to show what you tried.

Avatar image upload is failing intermittently with a 500 Internal Server Error. I’m getting the 500 error more often when the image is 500-1000KB or more. If the image is a more reasonable size (e.g., 100KB or less), I rarely if ever get the 500 error.
Any idea what might be causing this problem?

You have to supply the $member_id
If you’re on a profile page, the $member_id will be provided via bp_displayed_user_id()

Just seen some activity on this… again, really sorry that things have been on a bit of a pause, but luckily I still have all the code and a basic website so I’ll review everything again with the latest version of wordpress and buddypress and see if I can get this thing published at long last!
So ‘friend’ hasn’t actually made an attempt to work this up or if so how far did they get?
This does smack a great deal of treating the forum as a coding service!
It may be an idea to wait for 1.7 to be released then this process will be a whole lot easier.

I am new to buddy press. Currently I am working in a site which consists of Directory Press + S2Member + BuddyPress. My aim is to retrieve the value from buddypress profile fields on profile activation. Everything went fine till try to get the data from the profile field in buddy press
When I searched the documentation says us to use the function `bp_profile_field_data`
The following code works fine in the file profile-loop.php
`bp_member_profile_data( ‘field=Company Name’ )`
But when I use the same code in functions.php it shows blank

Since you’re using a premium theme, we have no way to know if the theme author changed the HTML structure of that page. Back up your theme’s edit.php file and watch out that when you change the PHP tags, you won’t mess up the HTML tags in return.

To ‘do’ shortcodes in different content areas, you will need to filter do_shortcode() into certain functions. See the WordPress codex for documentation on do_shortcode() https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/do_shortcode and add_filter: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_filter
To add it to the activity stream, you’ll want to add
`add_filter(‘bp_get_activity_content_body’, ‘do_shortcode’); // Adds shortcodes to activity content.`
Xprofile is similar:
