@mercime
Participant== I thought all of that was supposed to be under /wordpress/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/members ==
That would be the folder where template files of bp-default theme is located.
If you installed WordPress in /wordpress folder and activated BP in main site then yes, the default url for members directory would look like …/wordpress/membersMarch 5, 2011 at 10:51 pm #106927In reply to: WP Multi Network for WordPress 3.1?

KeymasterI haven’t tested this myself, but the bp-default theme in BP 1.2 does not add theme support for post-thumbnails.
This would have to added to your child theme’s functions.php:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_theme_support#Post_ThumbnailsAlso read the note here:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_the_post_thumbnail#NotesGive that a shot and report back.

KeymasterDid you change the timezone to the correct setting?
https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_General_SubPanelSome have experienced remedying the problem by selecting the UTC offset instead of the country / city.
You might also need to set the server’s timezone correctly. Contact your network admin for help on this.

KeymasterThere’s a codex article for that!
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/You’ll need to setup WordPress as a network first:

ParticipantThere are bunch of ways to make this happen but here is what I use.
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-registration-options/
Oddly enough imo the plugin authors don’t really showcase the privacy feautre which I think is one of the plugins best quallities.
Here a creen shot of the privacy settings page is it appers on my install.

very bassic but it really does the trick if you are trying to limit access to member profile pages.
Hope this helps!

ParticipantI’m looking for the same, I have a table or a list with firstname, lastname and email. Now I want to import this list to WordPress/BuddyPress and WP/BP sends every one of these new users a welcome email with their random generated password… Is that possible? I have tried a couple user import plugin… but none of them worked really well.

@mercime
Participant@StevieG adding footer.php from bp-default to your child theme shouldn’t mess with your install.
So going back to “If I try to access the files in my child theme I get the error message ‘Sorry, that file cannot be edited’.” is this in relation to editing the child theme files via Network Admin > Appearance > Editor panel? If not, what files are you trying to edit and where?
EDIT- just found out you posted same topic in WP Forums and the problem as posted there was clearer

MemberHello,
I am leaving this here in case anybody else is at wits end with this problem. I installed the following plugin:https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/si-captcha-for-wordpress/
It is a capcha for subscriber sign up. Our buddypress has not been released yet, and we were getting upwards of a dozen spam sign ups a day. I installed this plugin a week ago. So far, no spam signups. I hope this helps.

MemberI have been fighting this issue for awhile. Last week, I found this plug in:

I’ve gone from dozens of spam subscribers a day to nothing over the last week. I hope this helps.

KeymasterLooks like you’re still running an older version of WordPress; try upgrading WordPress to the latest version, then you’ll need to do the same thing with BuddyPress.
Read the following articles for help:

ParticipantNope. Still doesn;t work. I made the php code work but looks like even though the code works now the page still doesn’t seem to recognize me as being logged in.

ParticipantI think I see the problem. Looks like the new wordpress is commenting out the php codes, even though I have php-exec. Hmmm….

ParticipantJust to clarify, I have echoed the following on the front page:
bp_adminbar_notifications_menu
bp_loggedin_user_avatar
bp_loggedinuser_link
bp_loggedin_user_domain… And nothing is showing up, when it used to.

ParticipantThis could be an approach: http://cleverness.org/2010/08/08/add-user-types-to-wordpress-and-buddypress/ (works with 3.1 multisite). It does not add pages but gives you the possibility to show profile-field-groups depending on the chosen user-role.

ParticipantOK, so like everyone else through forum after forum I also had the problem of new users not getting a confirmation email. My problem was Bluehost. WordPress apparently sends those emails from an email address called “wordpress@yourdomain.com”. Bluehost has a problem with this as might other hosts. The solution is a plug-in https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mail-from/ install it and allow it to make your email “noreply@yourdomain.com”. It worked and was easy.

MemberI am using wordpress 3.0. I have enabled the user to register by using superadmin=> options=> Registration Settings=>
Allow new registrations=> User accounts may be registered. But still I could not get the functionality of buddypress. I have used directory structure for multisite. Is this prevent the activity of buddypress? Is there any other configuration setting? -
