In reply to: Hints to debug
letting it unanswered means there is no answer to the question…
nobody can give you any hint on how to debug if you know nothing about coding… if you know about coding, you know how to debug, that’s how it goes.
In reply to: WPMU very slow in locallocally mean random… we have not a single bit of idea how your server is set, so the answer will be “we have no idea”…
give some details, please: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/when-asking-for-support
In reply to: [Poll] Which development tools do you usenone of the above… i’m on a Mac, i use BBEdit… i’m a web developer, i need a tool, not a free alternative.
In reply to: Downgrade WordPress MU to a standard WordPress?Hum, actually Chouf is close to the truth… with the latest 3.0_ bleeding trunks *(testing ground), the MU of wordpress is completely merged, but the officiel 2.9.1 is not yet…
the merge of both projects will be announced soon, but the date of early april would be correct based on the rumors…
In reply to: Update Status without Javascriptfacebook is updating the status via javascript as well… what do you think they do?
we now call it AJAX!
In reply to: links in activity = follow…rofl, yeah, it’s pretty complicated to find a bug they can not fix, they are the ones who code the stuff and generate the bugs on the road, so yes, they are pretty good at fixing what they know by heart…

we call this dedication… and competence!
In reply to: Is everthing encrypted?when a hacker is able to access the entire server, encrypted or not your data is cracked… the password of yuor users is completely useless if the guy downloaded the whole database… he will have access to any data.
the password is not a key to the content, it is a key to the authentication hit to each user… a hacker does not need to authenticate, he goes to the data and use it bare.
btw, do you think your site content worth that much security that all your data have to be encrypted?… then you may need something else than a blog.
In reply to: Downgrade WordPress MU to a standard WordPress?instead of downgrading, i would suggest you wait the next version of wordpress in 2 or 3 months, where both wpmu and wordpress are merged seamlessly… right now, you have no real possibility to make it go independant or you play with the database…
In reply to: GPL Question re upcoming plugin releasei didn’t want to insult you at first, but yeah, stop being lazy… ROFL…
In reply to: GPL Question re upcoming plugin releasehere is the best place for you to choose your license: http://creativecommons.org/choose/
In reply to: BUG founduse OR show html is different… if you enter a html tag into the title, it will show “raw” in the result… that does not mean the html is parsed, it’s the opposite.. the html can not be parsed that way. though, you talk about what engine here?
if you do not edit anything else than the header, you do not need the step 3, you edit the step 2 to make it fit..
you can see here how i did it…
… you just need the CSS file for your child theme, and you add this:
#header {
background: url( style/default_header.jpg) !important;
height: 155px;
} /* i made the height bigger as i wanted to add the logo below search box… */
I use the exact same theme for the whole site, with a dozen of blogs… so how i did it is simple… i edit the header.php and add this just above the </head> as in this demo:
<?php wp_head(); ?>
<?php
global $blog_id;
echo ‘<style type=”text/css”>
@import url( http://smalah.com/wp-content/themes/smalah/style/style_’ . $blog_id . ‘.css );
</style>
‘;
?>
</head>
and the file related to that function contain this:
#header {
background: url(header_1.jpg) !important;
}
… this is overriding the header image… with the !important thing…
but there is a logical problem.. we usually use !important to override a prefered css style, but it is actually used all over the place inside the 1.2 theme, making it illogically used.
In reply to: BuddyPress Classifieds Component 1-beta released !the logic is to not use the blog but the interface… that’s why the blog is supposed to be set to private instead of public.
In reply to: Color Codeshttp://colorpicker.com is your friend.
In reply to: BuddyPress Classifieds Component 1-beta released !bug reports:
in theme/classified/classifieds-loop.php
bp_ajax_querystring() does not exists in your plugin, so it breaks the engine… how did you get it to work without the function (this is a critic, not a question btw)?
“BuddyPress Classifieds – Roles & Capabilities” was with a wrong version and try to update itself all the time…
In reply to: BuddyPress Classifieds Component 1-beta released !i just downloaded this… and i see:
Move the directory buddypress-classifieds/theme/classifieds to wp-content/themes/your_current_theme.
…. problem is that we do not have that directory in the release…
In reply to: Multiblogs using one buddypress database?what you refer to would be a WordPressMU install, which is a multi-users/blogs version of wordpress…
In reply to: vBulletin OR pnflashgames integrationthere is no news on that, did not follow it either.
and you can recognise me from about any site related to vBulletin… but it’s not good to tell everyone that you know me from being active on a pirate site, it means you are a leecher too…

In reply to: Buddypress 1.2 and WPand as a note, when WP and WPMU merge, you will have a merge script to port any existing installation to the new structure, so you loose nothing and you will not be broken… i could say that 95% of the existing addons will still work with WP*mu 3.0!
In reply to: WP MU 2.9.1 to version 2.9.1.1you may have to contact the guys at Buddymatic, because the default installation of Buddypress is working fine with the newest version of wpmu… don’t see why anyother adminbar would have a problem as well, mine works properly.
you may simply have to reinstall your theme or check for an update in the next hours/days
In reply to: Setting Blog IDs back to 1numbers will do nothing on your site, people are not ranking their position on a site based on the id of their blog… google either…
In reply to: Best Event Plugin?with the functions included in the product, you can create a complete page with all these details… i’m building one right now for the site you visited… i’ll show you later today
In reply to: Best Event Plugin?check the result here: http://lesdauphines.com/
first block is the calendar widget of the same tool
second block is the events to come
…
this is not a seperate engine, just custom content for each posts… easy to configure, and any poster can use it… no need to learn a new machine.
In reply to: we should stop whiningi think Erich try to make a mea-culpa… rofl
