@mercime
ParticipantThe fix is scheduled for release in BP 1.6 version.
You have the option to make the edit manually in your BP 1.5.4’s buddypress/bp-blogs/bp-blogs-functions.php file as seen here https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/5562 if you know how to make that change. You’d have to make the change again if BP comes out with another version update before BP 1.6

ParticipantCopy over header.php from bp-default theme to your child theme folder and delete lines 29 thru 39
If you still want to go the CSS route, use `#header #search-form { display: none; }`

MemberNot sure if the ideal place to post, but here goes:
Have done a brand spanking new install of WP 3.3.1 and BP 1.5.4; and have no other plug-ins installed. I have attempted to create site-wide forums following the above tutorial to the letter, but cannot get my forum to display for love nor money.
When i click in forums on my site menu – it says the ‘forums component hasn’t been setup yet’ – http://county2county.co.uk/forum/ and retruns me to the site index.
If I click on the ‘view page’ when creating a forum then I just get a blank page – http://county2county.co.uk/forums/forum/general-discussion/
If anyone would be able to help out with what I am doing wrong; then I would be eternally grateful.
VMT!

Participant@cyrille13 Your advice solved the problem. Thank you so much!
So…dev teams, do you think this is a bug?

@mercime
Participant== I want to replace the buddypress search box from top header ==
If you have a bp-default child theme, copy over header.php from bp-default theme https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php
Then delete lines 25-44 from header.php per link I gave and move those lines over where you want it.== Is there a buddypress 1.5 compatible plugin that manages banneradds? ==
You could create widget areas then just add the sidebar areas where you want them to show up in theme, see how to http://justintadlock.com/archives/2010/11/08/sidebars-in-wordpress
February 17, 2012 at 2:21 am #129954@mercime
Participant== I’d need to show the login form to all the users that get to the BP site. Only on that one. ==
Copy code from bp-default’s sidebar.php to your bp-default child theme or custom BP theme. https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-themes/bp-default/sidebar.php

@mercime
ParticipantYou know the problem is that BP 1.2.5.2 was set to be compatible with WP 3.0. You have upgraded your installation to latest WP 3.3.1 but did not upgrade your BuddyPress which is now version 1.5.4

MemberHello,
I think i have the same issue. With Wp 3.3.1, BuddyPress 1.5.4 and bbPress 2.0.2, when a user try to edit his profile, the nickname is deleted. I try to deactivate all my plugins and change to bp-default theme and no difference. I have no proble with the wp-admin.

ParticipantCan someone please help me with this?
The admin’s username is “admin” however, in Buddy Press, the profile shows:
Police Records Management
@Police Records ManagementThe “ @Police Records Management” is creating a lot of problems with the links in BuddyPress because of the spaces. Any ideas how I can change it to either “ @admin” or “@PoliceRecordsManagement”?

ParticipantI’ve downgraded WordPress 3.3.1 to 3.2.1 with BuddyPress 1.5.1. Unfortunately the problem still happens the same way when I upgraded WordPress and BuddyPress to the latest versions.
I don’t know what else is causing the problem, but if I solve I’ll post again.

ParticipantAs I’ve been saying, I can’t edit the name field of extend profile since I upgraded WordPress and BuddyPress. And results are as above. I suggest dev teams respond to the bug report I mentioned in the first post, too. My problem is the same as he/she reported.
I’ll let you know after I check with older ver. of WordPress.

MemberThanks for your response,
I have WP 3.3.1/BP 1.5.4
I’m logging in from a mac, so I believe it’s OS X? I’m using Safari. Does that answer your question appropriately?
I have the default BP theme
I have installed s2member, akismet, bbpress, bp, bp pending activations, invite anyone, jetpack, mail from, page tagger, skt nurcaptcha, wiziapp, and wp show id’s
For permalinks, it’s set to post name. When I tried it as default, it gives a 404 error message when someone tries to get on the site.I installed the plugin ‘redirect to profile’ but that one didn’t seem to work. However, I found one called ‘profile as homepage’ and it seems to work when someone has left my site without logging out and then goes back to the site. But it still doesn’t do the trick when a person logs in. I still get the same ‘page not found’ message.

ParticipantWhat have you done with it?
It is in the bp-default header.php: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php#L25

ParticipantCould this be a MU issue? I just upgraded the site to BP 1.5.4 (it was at 1.5.3).

WordPress 3.3.1Adds Comments Navigation, Quote, Reply and Report buttons at the beginning or end of each comment. Also, I need to add emoticons to comment.
Excuse me for my English, I hope you will understand what I meant to say.

KeymasterAs John asked, are you attempting to edit a user’s profile, or a specific field in the XProfile component in wp-admin?
February 15, 2012 at 7:18 am #129841Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterIs this still happening on BP 1.5.4? Can anyone figure out how to reliably recreate it?
February 15, 2012 at 1:10 am #129822takuya
ParticipantFYI, I downgraded BP versions and results are followings (WP 3.3.1)
BP 1.5.3.1 – not working, same error remains
BP 1.5.2 – not working, same error remains
BP 1.5.1 – not working, same error remainsBut my previous version was 1.5.1 and was fully working, so I’m thinking this was caused by WordPress core itself, not BuddyPress. I’m going to test by downgrading WordPress core.

KeymasterOdd. All of that happens outside of BuddyPress’s control, and more involves WordPress, your server, and WordPress.org plugin repository that serves you the zip file of the updated package. During that time, BuddyPress does not run any update scripts or routines at all.

ParticipantI too have the same issue. I have Buddypress 1.5.3, WP 3.3.1 and BP Social 1.2.4. When we reply in the activity stream it gives me error 404.
Anyone tried to update BP to 2.5.4 to see if it resolves the issue? Is it theme related? How can I fix this? It’s crippling my user’s willingness to use the site: we rely on replies and comments to build common knowledge on projects !!!

ParticipantI will be happy to try to replicate when we have a development space set up. In the meantime, I am working on a production prototype (requiring login).
I can say, though that I had clicked on the “Install Upgrade Now”, and the interface had changed to the “Update Plugin” screen. The status text updated …
Removing the old version of the plugin…
Plugin updated successfully.
Reactivating the plugin…… up to “Reactivating the plugin” and it was there that action halted.
Again, I’ll try the upgrade again in our upcoming development environment and will report.

KeymasterYour response still doesn’t help clarify the issue. I need to know if you are attempting to edit a user’s profile, or a specific field in the XProfile component in wp-admin.

KeymasterAt the risk of having your site be down again, are you able to duplicate this? Can you detail exactly at what step your site went down?
