Participant== yes we are using default theme, and yes we are aware of the other minor issues which we can sort out quickly. ==
It’s all connected. If all BP pages were set properly, then the default URL of your Register page should be http://socialtimes.angloway.com/register/
Instead, when I hover over the “create an account’ link, I see http://socialtimes.angloway.com/register.php which is incorrect, and when you click on that link it goes to `http://socialtimes.angloway.com/?bp_pc_redir_to=%2Fregister`

Membersorry queenieb didn’t see your posts, thanks for responding

I have looked for a ‘Privacy Setting’ with the details you have written and I don;t have that under any privacy options – all mine says is check or uncheck for search engines. Am I missing something?June 20, 2012 at 5:47 pm #136108i25sa
Memberyes we are using default theme, and yes we are aware of the other minor issues which we can sort out quickly. We haven’t continued with the building of it until we can sort out the registration issue. yes we aslo went through the installation wizard as well – the rest of the issues we understand but we have to sort out the main problem which is how people register.
Do you have an alternate suggestions for people to register ?
Thanks

ParticipantIf you’re using the BP Default theme, you won’t see a link to “create a new account” if Registration is turned off.
@i25sa looks like you have more urgent issues than registration, see http://socialtimes.angloway.com/members/ Did you go through the Installation Wizard after you activated BuddyPress?

Member@i25sa I found a fix that worked for me. It was a simple setting that got turned off when I added a plugin (and later deleted it). Go to settings, privacy and ensure that Registration is checked under Exclude from BuddyPress protection. Hope this helps. Q!

Participanti have checked you site and i see the issue is not like i advised, sorry for the bother.

ParticipantThis usually occur when a user is logged in already and someone else wants to register. Log out all current users and retry signing up a new user. If this is not the issue, then it may be something else. Hope you get help.

MemberI have gone through Buddy Press installation wizard. But do i need to create the folders and pages under the path the links showing when i hover my mouse on to the BPress dash board ? For example when i hover mouse onto “MyAccount” the URL is showing like “http://www.chinnadev.arn/dcomm/members/admin/”…. it is resulting to “Not Found” page… basically there is no folder like “members” and “admin” under the directory structure.. what to do ?
Thanks,

Participantthank you! I’ve just taken a quick look and it seems the testbp install also has customizations, starting with the registration page but I guess I have to create a new account to get in and see it from inside

@mercime
Participant== However I can’t find how to open the forums, register, or activate pages at the top of my website to make a test account.==
You’re getting quite off-topic here. This is not related to Easel theme in any way. Did you go through the Installation Wizard after you activated BuddyPress?
== I’ve tried http://fifaadvocate.com/register/ but this directs me back to the home screen. ==
That usually happens when you’re logged in and then go to register page. You need to log out first. to register. Also, you could always create a test user account via wp-admin Users > Add New

@mercime
Participant== please create an account to test a couple things ==
@finallyanime Do provide a test username and password which you can delete later.
1. if you’re referring to blog posts, then you’d need to install a subscription plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe2/ or via feedburner etc.
2. What’s wrong about the blogs section specifically? You need to have a multisite installation for that
== Doesn’t look like “create new topic or group” is possible ==
3. Did you see the link to create a group beside title of the Groups Directory page? Or go to http://mysite.com/groups/create directly ? Create a new topic for Group Forums or Sitewide Forums?

MemberThey are not there own sites, I used wordpress network to create all the subsites, are you saying I need to create separate wordpress and buddypress installs for all the subsites, then use multi-network to join them all? I’m happy for them all to be separate, I just need the user databases to merge so people can login to them all without logging out and having different accounts to login with?

ParticipantWith Gravity Forms disabled, register a new account with only BP profile fields you created. Then check if you can edit profile with default BP profile fields.

Participant@idowu My apologies that was a little misleading as I could have sworn there was a button on the members account screen for ‘Sites’ what I was thinking of is the buddybar where you have a set of links, under ‘blogs’ there is a ‘create’ link in addition to the large button on the main BP blogs dir page. I would spend a little while having a good rummage around all the links and screens in BP so you’re familiar with what is where.

ParticipantUpdate: I just created a completely fresh install of WordPress Multi Site, with no plugins or thems and registered a new user. The user account is not added to the site and, of course, does not have any permissions. Yet the user has access to the site as a member.
Kinda weird. It’s like there is some hidden permissions granted.

ParticipantPlease I have asked that you stick to the original thread you really don’t help matters trying to re-ask the same question in new threads – I have explained your options for this sidebar requirement, if you are saying that there is a ‘members’ widget region created by this plugin then adding a simple text widget to that sidebar region in the widgets page should display when you visit the members directory list – not however a members account screens, but I’m guessing at that as how that ‘members’ region displays is governed in the code wrapping the sidebar call in sidebar.php.
I would suggest that you pop back to the original thread and paste up the code for your sidebar so people can see what conditional code is being used and whether the sidebar is being called correctly.

Participant1/ Do you want a piece of content that is seen only by logged in users: yes / no
2/ Is this piece of content intended to be seen only on specific BP screens i.e when we are looking at a members profile /account: yes / no
You can add content to sidebars that checks whether a user is logged in or not you can see that as an example if you look in the standard BP sidebar and at the ‘sidebar me’ section towards the top.
You can also add content to that sidebar that only displays if you are viewing specific pages, an example of that can also be seen looking further down at the forum tag cloud block.
If you have need to add content via a widget for a specific screen then you may need to create a new sidebar region in a child functions.php file along with a function call in the sidebar to output that new sidebar if on a specific page, then you have a new widget region you can add your text widget to.
That’s not the only approach you could also create a new sidebar file that is only called on a members view and in that simply add a a sidebar region to use from the widgets dashboard page.

MemberThank you Paul, I decided to keep the account activation since the email problem got solved with the host change, and yes, disabling it seems a little risky.
And thanks a lot for the second link, I had been adding code to my functions.php and have been wanting to remove the links created in the profiles for a while.
Regards.

MemberHmm, I think my problem is a little different. I made a couple of accounts to test out the functionality, and when logged in as one of these users I have access to – not only the dashboard of my main site – but also the dashboard of the other new user that I created.
There has to be something that I’ve missed since this is not what anybody would want or need.//Claus
