InactiveJust post it on my website http://www.snaplist.net23.net You can’t post screenshots here. You also can’t post complete code. It won’t allow PHP tags. I suppose it is a security issue to allow it on here.

InactiveSend me the screenshot. Most likely it is just a simple CSS tweak.

MemberHi Shawn
I have the issue on IE9 – instead of a horizontal menu I get a vertical menu, with the button text at the left, and the button extending all the way to the right of the header image.
When I upload a custom header, the image is repeated – one below the other. I can attach a screenshot if you can tell me how I do that on this forum.
I haven’t changed anything, in fact I had developed a whole website with groups etc and when a friend checked it in IE, he reported the issue. So I tried a whole new install and had the same problem…
Thanks for your time!March 20, 2012 at 7:56 pm #131694In reply to: Internet Exploreer issue and Create Account issue

InactiveI am not sure I am understanding you correctly. Can you elaborate further? I have checked your site on Firefox 11.0, Chrome 17.0, and IE 8 and the menu alignment and header looks fine to me. Did you make any changes and then change it back? Try Ctrl + F5 and see if that helps it may be just the cache stored on you local machine because to me it looks like a standard WP/BP install to me.

MemberThanks Shawn!
Issue with the menu occurs only on IE – FF & Chrome are OK – site is islandstitcheryguild.org. Any help would be appreciated…March 20, 2012 at 5:49 pm #131681In reply to: Internet Exploreer issue and Create Account issue

InactiveI am only addressing the issue of creation on new user accounts. I would have to see the site to address the other issue. For the issue of new user accounts go to Dashboard/Settings/General and beside membership check the box beside “Anyone can register” that should take care of it!
Good luck!March 20, 2012 at 5:44 pm #131680In reply to: Internet Exploreer issue and Create Account issue

MemberOK – I fixed the create account issue – didn’t realize I should check the “allow anyone to register” in the “settings-general” menu. Sigh.

ParticipantYou seem to be approaching things from to different angles first post you suggest you are working in sidebar.php adding conditional blocks, my approach above would work to create a block that would only appear in sidebar.php if you were on /in a user account set of screens in that block you could set a new widget region if you wanted to add widgets from dashboard.
I’m not sure what your approach above is in using those include statements – they’re not really the preferred method in WP, if you want to simply have a different sidebar for account screens why not simply create new file and replace the get_sidebar call with a named one get_sidebar(‘account’) in /members/single/home.php

KeymasterWhat about if you disable account registration, and manually create accounts for your students? That way only they will have access and it saves fiddling about with code, which doesn’t sound like the right solution for this.

KeymasterAre you testing with an admin user? Does a regular user account behave differently?

ParticipantUpdate!
I figured out it that it was because the username doesn’t allow spaces but it doesn’t say that on the form and it doesn’t point out the error if tried. Is that normal?February 26, 2012 at 4:22 pm #130483In reply to: Avatar Cropping Help Please!

MemberThe tool shows up and is usable but I can’t get it to select the whole image. I haven’t noticed a difference between the file size or file type when trying to do this. I’ve actually tried to save the file between two different types and still get the same result. I can upload two images to my site, one that will show the whole image when trying to crop and another that won’t if that would be helpful. I can also give you the website for you to create an account on to see if you can get it to work.

ParticipantAs aces says we have covered email issues many times here so a search may throw up further info, this is seldom actually an issue with WP/BP but a server one an tied into your whole domain config setup

ParticipantSome times the email gets stuck in spam or junk filters.
To get email working, some web hosts require an extra wordpress plugin, such as:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mail-from/
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/configure-smtp/wp-mail-smtp and configure-smtp can send a test email which displays, often useful, debug information!
This is a frequently discussed issue here and people have found all three different plugins useful – there may be others.
Please check your host’s knowledge base or faq for further information….

ParticipantIt works where plugin authors have bothered to provide some form of overloading of files, in general WP plugins don’t have need for screens whereas BP plugins will often need to create a component , creating new dir pages or user account screens and the approach Paul mentions above is catered for so you should in theory always be able to copy template files to your theme and modify them.

MemberAces,
I tried the Mail From plugin. That did not work.
I did finally have success (thanks to your post links and some tests).
Here is what worked:
1. Created a brand new email address at my host called noreply@mydomainname.com.
2. Installed the WP Mail SMTP plugin.
3. Entered the new noreply email account info into WP Mail SMTP and used it as the SMTP for the site outgoing mail. Then I tested it. I entered a new test member. I received the Confirmation / Activation Email. I clicked and was activated.
It’s not perfect, but it works.
Thank you for your persistent help.

I think a plugin would be a great addition to bp..I would believe more users would like to be able to create different registration profile fields for different users (dating sites, networking sites, job sites etc.,..that’s a good question..maybe something simple in the bp admin like the buddypress user account type plugin…or maybe is it possible to create the plugin as add on to the main Extended Profile Fields menu?I wish I could be more of a help..

ParticipantI would guess it probably could be done but I don’t know what skill level would be required. I don’t know of any plugins and I haven’t looked into it myself.
Either way, it is a different topic.
