Hi Pinastro! I’m a newbie here but I do know that SimpleScripts installations tend to be junkie and end up with 404 errors. It’s not that hard to install by hand — truly. Just take the instructions to install WordPress-MU, then BuddyPress, then BBPress bit by bit and it’ll be fine.

(Are you on Bluehost? I am and so I did first install with SimpleScripts and got the same errors so backed up, dropped the database tables and started over again.)

    Good luck!

John, i’ve downloaded the rev #2128 and with this i can’t see the buddybar…

    #46748

Arturo, the two days ago trunk of bbPress integrates perfectly. Sam is making some furious edits to the bbPress core to prepare for launch so it’s possible the trunk version may be broken or changed in some way.

Yes, deep integration, then you should just be able to use the existing nonce that is generated by WordPress.

Burt, I’m not seeing bbpress post show up in sitewide activity, although everything else seems to be working fine. Could you point me to where you set the hook to stuff topic and post creation into activity so that I could try to run down the problem? Thanks.

    Whee finally! :D Thank you!

    So let’s get started again.

    1. Which version of WPMU are you running?

    – WPMU 2.7.1

    2. Did you install WPMU as a directory or subdomain install?

    – directory

    3. If a directory install, is it in root or in a subdirectory?

    – root

    4. Did you upgraded from a previous version of WPMU? If so, from which version?

    – no

    5. Was WPMU functioning properly before installing/upgrading BuddyPress?

    – yes

    6. Which version of BuddyPress are you running?

    – 1.0

    7. Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated?

    – no, not yet.

    8. Are you using the standard BuddyPress themes or customized themes?

    – I have my own but also have same problems with default theme (BuddyPress Default Member Theme (1.0))

    9. If running bbPress, which version?

    – Version 1.0-alpha-6

    10. Please provide a list of any errors in your server’s log files

    – at the moment error log seems to be empty…

    And then my current problems:

I solved the #1 “I can’t post a new topic or reply to the forums anymore.” by re-installing everything. Forums work fine now, except:

    1) I still can’t invite friends to the groups (they are my friends and aren’t joined the group). I get a messages: Select Friends No friends to invite and Send Invites -button.

    2) I still can’t leave a group. I noticed some weird problems on that page… This page (leave a group) doesn’t have a wp-admin-bar and footer at all! Other pages have. I only get messages: “Confirm Leave Group” and “Are you sure you want to leave this group?” but there’s no options “Yes, I’d like to leave this group.” and “No, I’ll stay!”.

When logged in and on the Groups Directory/Groups Listing page, it is no problem to leave a group, but when I try to leave a group on group’s own page (e.g. http://domain.com/groups/testgroup ) by clicking the Leave Group -button, I get problem #3 from my 1st post.

I noticed differences when comparing html codes BP generates:

comparing testbp.org’s html source and mine that in header I have different code on line 11:

    Mine is: <link rel='stylesheet' href='http://domain.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-blogs/css/widget-blogs.css?ver=2.7.1' type='text/css' media='' />

    and testbp.org’s is:

    <link rel='stylesheet' href='http://testbp.org/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-activity/css/widget-activity.css?ver=2.7.1' type='text/css' media='' />

Meaning that instead of bp-activity I have bp-blogs… so is this a problem? I’m still wondering why my code is different from testbp.org’s.

When I deleted <?php bp_group_leave_confirm_link() ?> on leave-group-confirm.php file (lines 27 and 28) this way the leave group page displays right but links Yes, I’d like to leave this group and and No, I’ll stay! don’t work (of course they don’t work).

    3) “new” problem is editing profile: when I try to edit profile (Profile > Edit profile) I get a red error message: That group does not exist.

    4) 2nd new problem: When I go to Friends > My friends > Alphabetically again an error or actually info box “Your friends list is currently empty”. I have friends and they are on the lists when I choose “Newest” and “Recently Active”

I’m sorry but my English isn’t that good, so it’s more than possible that I write some weird and confusing words, sentences :P

But I really do appreciate your help :)

    And Peterpan77 – I have to agree with DJPaul, please, don’t shout…

PS: I have to try this one to my problem #3 https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2991

    Just find it :)

    i’ve resolved the problem with wpmu 2.7.1 + bp 1.0 + bbpress 0.9.0.4 + deep integration

i’ve followed the 3d plus i’ve installed THIS plugin, works great and now i can login in bbpress use the wp/bp theme and access in bb-admin.

**NOTE**: i’ve used the 0.9.0.4 to have a bbpress forum like this site and NOT to use it for groups etc or with the component bp-forums.

Just trying again for something that I’m sure has a simple answer.

I’m not asking for help to troubleshoot the cookie integration – I really just want to know how to create a link to the WPMU logout page from bbPress.

In fact, exactly like the BuddyPress.org forum. The link on the above right on this page calls the WPMU logout function, but is doing so from the bbPress template. Is this link manually assembled? I imagine not, because it includes the nonce value.

I have searched for this info on this forum, the bbPress forum, the WPMU forum, and the Internet.

This has now been tested with WPMU 2.7.1, bbPress 1.0 RC1 and Buddypress 1.0. At the time of this post it actually works with all SVN versions of the softwares, but working with releases is preferred.

    Thanks,

    Trent

Ah, right. Thanks for the answer, Jeff!

I was just thinking that it would give a framework that could be adapted to the BuddyPress default theme, so that you could offer a ‘BuddyPress default’ theme for bbPress. After all, a lot of people are going to use the BuddyPress default theme with minimal alteration, because it’s neat, clean and tidy.

If no-one else has got the time, I’d be happy to have a go at adapting Andy’s BP.org bbPress theme to match the default theme – but I’ve not themed for bbPress before, so it would feel like a bit of an extra mountain to climb to have to start from the bottom.

It just seems that with the work Andy’s done already to port BP.org to bbPress, you’re very close to having a bbPress ready BuddyPress default theme – for which I’m sure a lot of people would be very grateful…:-)

As I say, I’d be happy to lend a hand if it’s not a high priority for anyone else.

Sorry, not sure which thread to post this in now!

So buddypress.org is clearly running a version of the BuddyPress default theme (with blue instead of orange) that has also been ported to bbPress – is that right?

Would it be possible to release that as a bbPress theme?

Or has that perhaps (crossing fingers!) already been done somewhere?

    Thanks for any input…:-)

FWIW, in this thread Bpfan posts a solution for the problem with BBP 0.9.0.4 where the admin is redirected to the main bbpress page on login (instead of the admin page).

The buddybar was displaying fine before I upgraded from my .9 build. Now with 1.0 rc2 I’m experiencing an unusual phenomenon

Currently, it is recommended that you stick with bbPress 1.0-alpha-6. See this thread.

This could be a bug with bbPress 1.0-RC-2. I suggest starting a thread on the bbPress forum for this issue if one is not already started.

But to get the forums to look as though they’re part of your BuddyPress, do you need to do something with the forums theme locally?

If I put a link into the navigation bar at the moment, it takes me to the bbPress installation which looks completely different to the BuddyPress installation.

This site (buddypress.org, I mean) seems either to have integrated the call to the forums or made the forums look like the BuddyPress theme.

Anyone able to give me some pointers?!

Thanks in advance for any clues…;-)

I too am experiencing this problem. The buddybar was displaying fine before I upgraded from my .9 build. Now with 1.0 rc2 I’m experiencing an unusual phenomenon where my search and login/logout fields are all displaying fine, but the actual buddybar itself is not displaying.

I think this is a glitch with the RC2 release.

    thanks for the reply JohnJJ,

i’ve the “deep integration” indeed i’ve the search and login bar, i’ve wp_head in head and wp_footer in footer i’ve writed here (#8 post in this 3d), but the buddybar doesn’t show…

    any idea?

another information, i’ve installed 0.9.0.4 and the buddybar with the same theme is ok, but i can’t access to bb-admin, so i’ve upgraded to rc-2 (trunk version) all works but not buddybar… thanks for help!

    #46422

In order to have the buddybar appear, you need to do what is called “deep integration” between the platforms. It means including WordPress and BuddyPress, inside your bbPress process.

    See this post.

At that point, the wp_footer() will load the BuddyBar, but you will need to pull off some styling tweaks to make it all play nicely together.
