I remember it being a table used to build actual stuff from a template of stuff. New user roles may have been only one item in the mix.

I remember discussing something like this with jjj once. The wp_options table is some kind of special wp role template thing used when creating new users. You notice that it doesn’t have the blog id in there like wp_1_options.

I don’t remember what the context of the problem was though or why we stumbled on this table name. Well that wasn’t much help was it?

Yeah weird thing huh? my database includes wpmu and bbpress and the table does exist :(

I can see your database is db62393_fabricadesuenos_comunidad. Is this the same database where both WPMU and BBPress have been installed? The error message says the wp_options table doesn’t exist.

Either installation of WPMU has not been done properly and the table doesn’t exist, or it is looking in the wrong database.

The best place to get an answer about CSS issues with bbPress theming is on the bbpress Forums. Please try there!

Never mind. I just named it bb-force-login.php and put it in the bb-plugins directory. Works like a charm!

Bumping this because I’m curious about the same thing DJPaul mentioned. The need to create a random account for bbPress is fine, but it’s pointless having it listed with the BuddyPress members when it’s not really one.

    Any suggestions?

Forum topics are only created through BuddyPress and not directly in bbPress so they should show up. They show fine in the actual groups but not on sitewide activity. I am going to go check the error logs now.

    #43879

If removing those lines fixes the problem for you, I would say remove those lines.

Those are settings that need to be modified to correctly for your particular install. WordPress and bbPress will often times suggest those settings for you, but it may not have gotten them correct.

I think I understand what you’re saying, and honestly it doesn’t resonate in my mind how this could happen unless your cookie settings are mucked up. WordPress and BuddyPress use the same login and logout functions, they are performing the exact same tasks.

Try deleting all of the cookies for your particular site, and try logging in/out again.

Have you attempted to integrate bbPress or have you modified your cookie settings in any way?

“New topic posts do not show up in the site wide activity widget.” is this related to posts created in bbPress? Not through bp’s group forums right? That’s normal. bp only records activity created through bp.

Not sure what is going on with your wire posts. Do you have any errors in your apache/php error logs?

    #43862

    Ghost in the machine?

No WordPress/BuddyPress/bbPress install can push out an update, only pull.

That means you have to request the files yourself.

BuddyPress offers no additional permissions or restrictions settings at the moment. Everything you need can be found within WPMU itself, or bbPress Admin itself.

    At the moment…

Thanks Erich (assuming I am the Matt you were referring to!)

I think you are talking about threaded responses.

As far as I know, bbpress does not do those. Also, (as far as I know) it does not alert you when someone has replied to your post.

I have seen these features mentioned in bbpress wishlists before. Hopefully someday they will get added.

I am completely new to bbpress so I am not sure of their future feature plans.

Ah, thanks Andy – I forgot to activate buddyPress-enable, and I didn’t have the very latest version of PHP.

Installing bbPress is, by far, the trickiest part of assembling a BuddyPress site.

This is a bug in the libxml2 library on your installation.

    http://josephscott.org/archives/2008/12/problems-with-libxml2-for-wordpress-xml-rpc-users/

You can upgrade this on your server – but – make sure you have enabled the “BuddyPress enable” plugin on the bbPress side, as this is a temporary fix for the problem.

    #43726

Currently only using what is called “deep integration” which is documented pretty extensively over on the bbpress.org forums. (Beware, they will advise against this.)

Nicola Greco from bp-dev.org is working on a way to do this using XMLRPC, but I haven’t seen that code yet.

TYVM Flynn! You totally made my day. Maybe this will be in the new release and we can avoid the dents in our foreheads next time.

You are a friggin’ genius! Single sign-on has been giving me trouble for a while now, but 5 min with your directions and we’re golden.

There were steps in here I’ve never heard of (probably why it didn’t work before [cough]) thanks for making it so clear!

You should get a Nobel prize for this!

(In related news, why the hell is it this complex?! You should think that the guys at WP or BBP would have figured something out by now…)

You’re welcome, Mekudos. =D Thanks for checking it out.

The forums aren’t really meant to be seen by users. It’s simply what’s used to make group posting work. If you create a new group and give it some posts & replies, then head to the forums, you’ll see how the 2 parts of the installation work together.

If you want your members to actually log into and post via forums (rather than groups) then you’ll need to put a link on your template that would direct them there.

Interesting. I don’t think I’ve noticed that on the other bbPress sites, but maybe I’ve never paid attention.

I just look at it as a little nudge to get more involved. ;)

    LOL!

    Thanks for the terrific instructions!

My only question is after WPMU 2.7.1, BuddyPress RC-2 and BBpress Alpha 6 is installed and functional, is how to include the Forum button on the home and member templates or did not follow the instructions properly?

    Thanks Again

    Speaking to this issue:

why does my username in the forums say i am ‘inactive’

It is a known bug in bbPress. Everyone sees their own status as “Inactive” and everyone else’s as “Member” or “Moderator”.

I just look at it as a little nudge to get more involved. ;)

Thanks to both of you for replying. JJJ, I’ll be sure and put those on there tomorrow. I meant to and actually thought I had. Oooops. LOL

    Thanks again =D

Actually, it’s that page itself because I can’t change emails from their either. Something with the Settings page with BuddyPress. I can change these items just fine through either bbPress’s admin or WP admin. And nothing else in the profile seems broken. The Settings page loads fine, but clicking Save Changes leads to a 404 (so /general doesn’t seem to exist, I guess?)

Anyhoo, running 1.0 RC 2 and bbPress is 1.0 alpha.
