I just installed a BuddyPress fully-compatible theme called BuddyBoss. I don’t have it all finally tuned yet with menus and widgets, but I have to say, this is pure fun!
Having a professional theme makes me want to stop screwing around with the style sheet and just enjoy developing a social site. This theme was only $60, and I spent a full week looking at live demonstrations before I made my decision. I focused my search strictly on BuddyPress compatibility and went with appearances after that. BuddyBoss moves the standard admin bar links down to buttons and removes the bar altogether. It really looks clean.
Give it a test run — anyone! I don’t have a site counter and stats tracking, so please don’t worry about that. I just want to share the experience.

On another note — on another site of mine for practice — today I created my first theme. It’s a child theme. So far all I’ve done is hook up the ftp settings in my CoffeeCup html editor and created a new style sheet for Twenty Twelve. I applied a one pixel border to the parameter and added radius corners. I’m going to hit the practicing really hard now. I’m excited and really enjoy WordPress.

Topic: Private Message Not Working
Currently, my users and I cannot send private messages to others members on my site.
I have disabled all plugins, and it is still not working. I have reverted from my buddyboss theme to bp-default theme still the problem persist.
I even deleted the current buddypress plugin to install the buddypress 1.7 plugin beta and it still not working.
I need help with this. Please if you can spare a minute to advise me I will appreciate it.

Am getting this error anythime I try to change my avater. I noticed this only happens when the image is too large. How do I solve this problem. do I need to adjust the size so it can allow any size upload for croping

Thanks in advance.Hi – So the members of my site don’t understand that the first page isn’t where the discussions are. Is there a way to rearrange the tabs in all groups so that the “forum” is the first page they see instead of it automatically defaulting to the “activity/home” page? It is super confusing for users as some comment in the discussion and some comment in the activity stream so no discussions are ever streamlined. they’re all over the place.
I found this old code to do this for “profiles” not forums but wonder if it will still work with the current up-to-date buddypress. http://www.buddyboss.com/making-profile-the-default-landing-page-in-buddypress/ Does anyone know how I’d fix?
Or does anyone know of a plug-in available that fixes it?

Running WordPress MS 3.4.1 and BuddyPress 1.5.6 with a child theme of BuddyBoss, when users access their profile pages they can edit their information and hit save. This is written to the database but doesn’t show on the edit profile page or on the public profile page (the public profile page is totally empty of profile content).
I’ve tried disabling all plugins, reinstalling BuddyPress, loading the members/single folder from the default BuddyPress theme, activating the default BuddyPress theme and am even experiencing the exact same problem on another site on another domain. The only thing that I think it could be (because I haven’t changed it) is my table prefix which is not set to wp_ or bp_ but rather a random sequence of letters and numbers. Obviously this is configured in wp-config accordingly and the rest of the site works just fine, it is simply public profile content that doesn’t display.
Googling this error makes it look like a bug in BuddyPress that has existed for some time. What causes it and how can it be fixed? Will it be fixed in future upgrades?
I’m seeing this on occasion, but not consistently, on both group and member activity streams.
The bp_activity_action() function will output something like “abc wrote on xyz’s wall:” when in fact it wasn’t the user “abc” and it isn’t “xyz’s” wall either. The entry itself seems to be linked to the correct user, and shows up on the correct wall, as the avatar displayed is the correct one etc. It’s just the output of bp_activity_action() that is wrong.

I’m using WordPress 3.3.2, BuddyPress 1.5.5 and BuddyBoss template.
I just installed the ‘Achievements 2.3’ and ‘BuddyPress Member Profile Stats’ (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-member-profile-stats/) plugins today. I faced some challenges in displaying the # of forum topics and posts.
Here are my questions. For Achievements 2.3, under Event -> Forums
The user creates a new group forum topic.
The user deletes a group forum post.
The user deletes a group forum topic.
The user modifies a group forum post.
The user modifies a group forum topic.
The user replies to a group forum topic.Q1. May I know these options are for ‘Site Wide Forums’ or ‘Forums for Groups’?
Q2. I’m using ‘Site Wide Forums’. I wanted an Event where when user creates a new topic, they will be rewarded auto with an ‘Achievement’. Is that possible?
Q3. May I know how can I make the # of forum topics and posts display? Right now, under Dashboard -> BuddyPress -> Pages, I need to leave the ‘Discussion Forums’ to -None- in order for my ‘Site Wide Forums’ to work properly.
Please help. I wanted to launch my social site asap but all these technical issues are causing me headache.

So I updated WP today to 3.2.2, thank god I backed up before.
So it seems my profile fields have disappeared. My Tabs are still there, but I cannot edit the fields because they are gone? When i look in buddypress the fields are present and my tabs are present.

BuddyPressSimple question, most likely a not so simple answer.
1. During Registration someone would choose a radio button, either “Member” or “Company”.
2. I would like to display on the “Members” page only people who picked “Members” during registration.
3. I created a Page and Tab named “Companies”, and I would like to show only people who checked “Company” during registration. The Layout would be the same as the members page.Any help would be great!
