ParticipantWith the “Oh and it’s a subsite of a second network in that installation and I did add the multisite define to wp-config.php.” I mean the following:
I have famire.nl as the main site (main network). I am using the ‘Networks for WordPress’ plugin by David Dean to be able to add multiple networks in my installation. My site onexa.nl is one of the networks.
Inside that network I have a subsite called clients.onexa.nl (which I want to use as an extranet) and inside that site I have BuddyPress enabled.I understand differences between sitewide & group forums are btw (can’t remember mentioning the sitewide forums though). What I’m not sure of is what the “use excisting installation” & “install group forums” differences are.
And just in case I need to have more added to wp-config.php, this is the BP related define I have in there: `define(‘BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG’, true);`

ParticipantA. Installing Forums for Groups only
Step 1. Go to admin dashboard > Settings > BuddyPress > Forums. Click on “Install Group Forums”
Step 2. New bbPress Installation. You’ve decided to set a new bbPress for forum management in BuddyPress. This is very simple and is usually just a one click process. When you’re ready, hit the link below. Click on “Complete Installation”
Here is the problem in step number three sugar you add this in the last config file bb-config.php
Did not work
Step 3. All done! Configuration settings have been saved to the file bb-config.php in the root of your WordPress install.October 2, 2012 at 7:06 am #142831In reply to: No friend request

@mercime
ParticipantDefine memory limit first before activating BuddyPress. If that fails, contact webhost re memory limit issue/s. Re syntax error -> https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/fatal-error-14/

– Have you tried re-uploading BuddyPress manually via FTP/cpanel/etc?
– Did you install WP via webhost script or did you install it manually?
– Have you deactivated all plugins except BuddyPress to see if it is a plugin conflict?October 2, 2012 at 1:37 am #142818In reply to: [Request] adding BP API ..

@mercime
Participant@marks99 the BP Default theme is responsive and best to test if everything’s is in working order throughout the site. After which, feel free to build a child theme off bp-default theme which could look like the modernize theme

ParticipantSo now I deleted everything, mysql database, wp, bp. I just started all over again.
I installed WP
What do I do next? define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’); added to the bottom of config.php (or if any other location, please tell me), or do I install buddypress first then the define memory limit thing?

ParticipantHi Paul,
I got this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/manhuntt/public_html/wp-config.php on line 3
I tried both examples, all separate attempts, (not at the same time):
define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’);
define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’96M’);Both failed.
This is my first attempt to install buddypress (I have installed countless themes/plugins, bp is giving me issue. It is a huge plugin

ParticipantAs you can see, the style is wrong. When you enter your details upon registration you can’t see all of your writing. Also, it won’t go full width it has just removed the sidebar.

ParticipantI don’t see the style mods from Twenty Ten in your stylesheet http://lad-mag.com/wp-content/themes/sportsmag-single-pro/style.css
Also, do change code in Members directory to that with sidebar so I can correct code for full-width as needed.

ParticipantOh, I figured this out. Oddly, if you deactivate “Private Messaging” in BuddyPress it seems (at least for me) that the notifications information and content up until “Send a notification by email when:” stays. I was able to just comment out the Settings tab using CSS and move the update Password & Email fields to my Edit Profile section.
Thanks!
