I activated the default theme and let only the bbpress plugin, Akismet and BuddyPress enabled. still shows the error. I tested with another User and nothing new.
Hi
That’s what I was doing when I found the problem with the WP Visual editor. However now both these issues are fixed – thanks! – still have issue with the other theme which is supposed to be BP compatbile but have taken it up with theme supplier.
No you needed the opening php tag the error occurred as you then started php once again on line ten without having closed out php first. So you could have either have removed opening php tag on line ten or kept it and closed out php after the PHPdocs stuff */ ?>
Got it fixed, thanks for your help guys
Hi.
This is the activity/index.php page http://pastebin.com/PkHZdQ3K I can see there is an extra <?php at the top so I have removed it. and this is what I get http://www.christianinspire.net/activity/
I am guessing the `/** * Template Name: BuddyPress – Activity Directory * * @package BuddyPress * @subpackage Theme */` needs removing but also the css code needs adding to style.css but when i look for
`/ > BuddyPress Component Finishing Styles
it is not in the css file.
Any ideas?
You will need to show a few lines before that line number as the error doesn’t actually occur on that line that is just where php first finds , due to the error, it can’t progress cleanly. You will likely have an additional stray closing php tag.
Thanks, i tried those but still wouldnt work
backticks added for you they are the character that looks like comma but very slanted.
ok so for some reason backticks are not working for me but i added what you said to add in point A and tried the suggestion when it do not work under the code to add.
In the WP admin Settings > Reading do you have it set to a page or latest blogs? Also try changing permalinks under Setting > Permalinks
If it’s tabs added to plugins there isn’t that option yet. I’m going to add that option later.
If you dont want to wait you can add this code:
`$bp->bp_nav = 100;`
if you have say the BP Album+ plugin and want to change it’s position just change ‘put label name here’ to Album. Then choose a number. I have placed labels at 10 increments. So position 1 is 10 2 is 20. You could place the Album tab at 25 and it would be in-between tab 2 and 3
This plugin was great I see the changes but still I can’t order some of the profile menu that I had installed.
The WP version is 3.4.2 / The theme is custom COMMUNITY / Plugins are:
Akismet
bbPress
BP Display Name
BP Labs
BP Show Friends
BuddyMobile
BuddyPress
BuddyPress Activity Plus
BuddyPress Media Component
BuddyShare
WP Maintenance Mode
This error is from the beginning of the installation only with BuddyPress and theme.
thank you
@farandhigh if I’m not mistaken you’ll have to add a form/forum on the screen/template which is provided by BuddyVents. Since that is a premium plugin which the community has no access to unless purchased, you should be asking the plugin author.
== BuddyPress installed OK. ==
Not quite. You see that message under “Add New Page” title in your image “The following active components ….. REPAIR”. Click on Repair and make sure that each component has an associated page first.
@guitaragora for example, /members/index.php file, change
`
`
to
`
`
at this point, the revised title would be somewhere in the structure like so
`<div class="post" id="post-“>

@mercime once again thank you so much! There are still a couple small things I am sure I will figure out over time but everything you told me to do has implemented buddypress flawlessly.
Easiest way is to just read the code. Look from here onwards: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/branches/1.6/bp-groups/bp-groups-classes.php#L1265
Versions of BuddyPress prior to 1.2 had a very similar feature. You could try downloading a 1.1.x version of BuddyPress and investigating its templates. Be warned, all most everything’s changed, so you would need to be confident with code to follow through and see what’s changed.
Request for what? If you’re going to resurrect an 8 month old forum post, at least provide more information as to what your concern is, or better yet, start a new thread.
FWIW, BP 1.6 included a fix to some of the most obvious problems around the WP Cache support, but it still needs a full audit.
Hi, thank you @mercime ,
I dont think the fact that it is this or that plugin could help,
The thing is to create forums with forms only,
but it looks more complicated than I thought as I dont see examples of that … mmhh
Cheers,
Oli
@donsony first deactivate bbPress from Plugins > Installed. Next, check if your bb-config.php is still at the root of your WP installation and if the DB/user information is still correct.
@johnbarrett you need to install/activate BP Template Pack plugin to make your theme compatible with BuddyPress. Following is a list of “template-packed” WP themes including some from elegant themes. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes
Note however that what works in their theme might not work for you, it all depends on the HTML structure of your theme. Initial scan of your theme’s source looks like you need to revise 16 template files for BP compatibility.
@farandhigh you should be posting this at this in forums of buddyvents plugin author. I’ve added Buddyvents to the title of this post just in case someone who uses the plugin could help you.
