i don’t think you understood what i was trying to say, bbpress is the forum software which integrates most tightly with buddypress.
Whatsapp is native and doesn’t need to deal with browser inconsistencies so you can’t really compare it to BuddyPress
I’ll create a plugin to make the crop work on mobile and have an upload image only in browsers that jcrop won’t work on

Also low end smartphones cannot handle this thereby, given the user no ability to change their avatar on mobile phone.work great on PC, but as we all know these days users uses their mobile phone to access internet more than PC. It would have been great if buddypress was coded specifically to allow croping on mobile phone media library before uploading to the web just like the way whatsapp does. In whatapp user must first crop the image in media library before uploading.This is the reason why I will like disable avatar croping in buddypress avatar upload.
Same here, my user clicks “Request Membership” button on a private group and gets page that says “This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?”

I found your thread and thought you guys may have a similar issue as I’m having as it relates to buddypress and registration. Was wondering if you are encountering this:
bbPress (2.5.3) seems to completely ignore what the user had originally set as their password on my registration page from the very beginning of registration.
More detailed explanation:
On the registration page, the user chooses their own password, and then once approved, the user is then sent an automated registration message which then assigns the user a new random password. The user then has to log in using this random password and reset the password.
Have you encountered this? Any solutions?

After upgrading to Buddypress 1.9.1, the way the number of member pages is display has switched from horizontal to vertical. Was this change intentional or is this a display error? I’ve installed Buddypress using the plug-in but it doesn’t seem to have a forum attached. Does it have one or should I just use mybb or something. Wasted hours on this and need some help pls?
This is a good question. I took a look at the code. As far as I can tell, you can safely use this column as a “when did the user join the group” value for most cases. It’s set when:
* A user joins a group
* A user accepts or declines an invite to join a group
* When a user creates a group
Promoting/demoting a user to moderator/administrator/regular member doesn’t change the value.
Note that this column isn’t indexed. This is only a consideration if for whatever reason you need to write your own SQL queries, which you shouldn’t need to. If you can’t find a core function that gets the data you need, it would be great if you can let me know here or on https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ and we can add one.

@koolfunny This is more of finding a WordPress theme per your example as nearly all WP themes are compatible with BuddyPress. There are some in the WP themes repository. Start off with https://wordpress.org/themes/search.php?q=pinterest and customize the theme or search further in the repo to find what you want.

Neither of these loops output anything, even though they are the same as that found in groups/single/admin.php

Does anyone know what file controls activity comment visibility?
Still trying to find a solution for this problem. Buddypress.org shows comments to users who are not logged. Is there a setting somewhere that controls this?
Are older versions of Buddypress available? If there is no solution I would like to rollback to an older version.

Hi, I am a newbie to BuddyPress… When I try to create a group, the error message “There was an error saving group details, please try again.” Something very similar happens when I try to comment… “There was a problem posting your update, please try again.” Any clue about whats happening?
I already read http://buddypress.org/support/topic/there-was-an-error-saving-group-details-please-try-again-2/ but still have no clue about how to solve it. I tried to deactivate all plugins and still doesn’t work.

I’m thinking about releasing a theme and was wondering what the best practices are to follow?
My theme doesn’t support any of the ajax functionality that ships with BuddyPress but it does include all of the other functionality.
I’ve themed, groups, members, activity, sites, register and activate and thrown in some other support for a login page and WordPress posts and pages.
It’s pretty much in its infancy where only the basics of all the above mentioned are covered but my plan is to build it out and refine over time.
It’s not entirely cross browser compatible either, but I figure just get it how I want it to look first of all and working in Chrome and then figure the rest out.
I’ve also removed support for all the hooks that plugins would use throughout the theme which is a bit of a downer. That said, I plan to build on the functionality of the theme over time.
So how would I go about releasing this theme and giving a suitable demo to folks?

I do admire the work you guys are doing by updating this BuddyPress but for the love of God, can you guys solve this issue in the next update?? It’s so annoying to ask each of the members to join a group for posting. Can anyone please help??
@bp-help, I just installed the plugin on my site and it works pretty well! I would have done it sooner but we completely rebuilt our site and BP wasn’t working with the theme we’ve been using. I have a quick question for you though. Is it possible to reverse the plugin to leave all pages open and then enter only the pages that I want to block? Our site is an ecommerce site so I want to leave everything open and accessible except for the BuddyPress pages.
@gerardbeekmans the workaround for some themes with proprietary frameworks which can lock your content to that theme is by creating a new file named buddypress.php then pasting the code from the theme’s page.php file into buddypress.php. What’s needed in buddypress.php is the WP loop and within that you need the_title and the_content template tags to replace whatever code the theme author used. After you’ve added the necessary loop and template tags, you’d need to upload buddypress.php into the root of your theme’s folder in server.
