Participantthx @rogercoathup
@Modemlooper thank you, but I’m confused, as your plugin page says “no longer supported”. I’m taking it that it’s actually supported, then, since you’re referring to it? again, thx

Participantnot so sure bout Invite Anyone, because it DOES keep a log of exactly who a user has invited and the status of his invite as in ACCEPTED with the date etc…. so in essence it COULD form the basis of something bigger… I have tried all above and quite like Invite Anyone… which i could post an image here to show you

ParticipantCAn you not spam the forum with multiple posts to the same page on your site. It is noted that:
– The content is not available unless you either join your site at a price or share the link to the page on ones social networks
– The content is not yours but taken from elsewhere but without due attribution (please feel free to correct that if not true)
I’m removing the posts as they appear to simply be an attempt at SEO gaming using this support forum.
If you have a problem with that decision please feel free to contact one of the core developers.

Tammie Lister
ModeratorWhen you installed did you save the settings on the BuddyPress page – so that you link pages to sections in BuddyPress?
In the case of a blank page if the above isn’t true you would be best checking your hosting logs as a white page can mean an error that would show up in those. Another method you can try is removing plugins and going to the default BuddyPress theme (keep BuddyPress as a plugin though). This way you can get things working with BuddyPress then add to that once it’s up and running.

Moderator@rogercoathup: Yes I am aware but there are things could be done with menus in BuddyPress. If you recall from the dev chats, we’re re-examining the entire menu area so anything should / can be considered.
September 18, 2012 at 11:32 am #142005Roger Coathup
Participant@karmatosed – dynamic menu links is a generic WP issue, not something specific to BP
September 18, 2012 at 9:59 am #141999Tammie Lister
Moderator@modemlooper: Perhaps this can be raised while we’re reviewing menus? Or at least used as a test case when we have done that.

ParticipantYup, would be good if BP developers pick one of these and merge it into the core.
Photos can’t be an afterthought. Media is a part of even the WP core.

MemberShane,
yes and yes, but it’s just a basic install, I haven;t changed anything.
I would have thought that buddypress would actually work with a default install.

Participant== Any recommended hosts that offer scalability like them but in the $150/month range? ==
@htperkins Nice budget. A fraction of that could get you VPS or higher. Haven’t used RackSpace Cloud for a while, thought they supported wildcard DNS before, hmmm …
In any case, some hosts with VPS or better with panels or so within your budget coming to mind

MemberAfter talking with RackSpace, it’s an issue with their Cloud Sites service – Doesn’t support wildcard DNS.
At least, I think that’s the problem… Any recommended hosts that offer scalability like them but in the $150/month range?

September 17, 2012 at 11:14 pm #141973In reply to: Need for hierarchical groups
SK
ParticipantCommunity = Social network
BuddyPress is a social networking script. The tagline of BuddyPress is “Social networking in a box”.
`If hierarchy is going to be pursued within one community, might as well tackle “across” multiple communities.`
Doesn’t make any sense. It’s akin to saying that if WordPress allows hierarchical pages on one site, might as well find a way to be able to add pages to CNN or ESPN. -
