ModeratoriOS 6 allows media uploads. So BP Album+ works. Avatar cropping won’t work until WP 3.5.

Participant@modemlooper …. now that ios6 is coming …. any chance buddypress will put this fix into the core? i think we can finally get off photobucket as our way of sharing photos yes? and this is a tiny bit off topic but what plugin do you recommend for allowing members to share / upload photos? thanks!

ParticipantI paid @r-a-y to fix this for my community. I haven’t tested it on 1.6, but it was broken for me in 1.5.7 before he made some changes. I imagine he may have forgotten to push this update to the repo, or he didn’t want to add another plugin to his support plate. If it works for you great. If it doesn’t, a little cash goes a lot further than “it would be cool if…” with people contributing their gift for writing this stuff and sharing it out with the world.

@mercime
Participant@twc01 Based on source of your page, you’re now using the Risen theme which is quite different from the Paradise theme we set up above.
Start a new topic and along with the code for the page.php file, post also the code for header-page.php, header.php, sidebar-primary.php and footer.php

ParticipantWhat version of Buddypress are you running? Since 1.6 the “Buddybar” has been replaced in exchange for the WordPress Admin Bar. When you initially upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6 it asks you which bar you want. Here’s a forum post on how to get it back that might be helpful.

Participant@theone85ca what theme are you using? First time I’ve heard that the adminbar was removed by the BP template pack plugin. Site URI?
September 19, 2012 at 2:05 am #142053@mercime
ParticipantIn addition to what mrjarbenne said above, for your reference there are “template-packed” WordPress themes at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes

ParticipantJust to re-iterate what @karmatosed is asking: you need to assign a wordpress page to the forums: http://screencast.com/t/ssfUP6jqLRWl
If that’s done, and you have FTP access to your site, you could check to see if the bb-config.php file has been created: it should be sitting at the root of your site (not inside a folder like wp-content). There is a link in this forum post to the bb-config file if you need to manually add it:

ParticipantAs an initial step, you need to activate this plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/ to create the folders necessary to make BP play nice with your theme. I will say that it is still clunky at that point, and may need some massaging. If you aren’t comfortable tweaking CSS, you may be better served choosing a Buddypress Theme, rather than trying to get a WordPress theme to work.
The Devs are aware of this and are currently building Theme Compatibility right into the plugin: you can read more about that here: http://wpmu.org/coming-in-buddypress-1-7-compatibility-for-all-wordpress-themes/ You may want to wait for this if you are integrating into an established site and you don’t want to change themes.

September 19, 2012 at 1:37 am #142048In reply to: How do I browse Plugins? I’m confused
bandtobuy
ParticipantI see the same thing. I don’t know why it’s there, but what I would reccomend is going into your site’s dashboard, going to plugins, type in whatever plugin you want, and just make sure you add “buddypress” at the beginning.

@mercime
Participant@crazyalcayne I assume you installed and activated the BP Template Pack if you’re using a WP theme. So which theme are you using? We have a list of “template-packed” themes @ https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes

ParticipantSounds very promising.
Pity it seems to be dead https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-members-avatar-map/
Even developer’s website seems dead http://web-world.co.il/
@hnla Could you possibly consider taking over this plugin and updating it for BP 1.6.1?

Participant@modemlooper Hello and thank you again for your help. What I wanted was fully achieved with the code you provided. This is fine and working very nicely however now I wish to keep a few member profiles out of this restriction. Basically Admins and moderators, I want to allow only these members’ profiles accessible by subscribers (In addition to their own, which is already working).
The setup at the moment is as follows:
1. Subscribers can only see and maintain their own profiles.
2. s2members level 1 and Admins can see others profiles too.What I want now is:
Subscribes can see a few selected members’ profiles too (May we define them either by role or by their id to exclude from the restriction?).
Any ideas on this?
Thank you very much.
